Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant is ramping up to his next project. The veteran indie filmmaker is poised to write and direct the teen skateboarding drama Paranoid Park, based on Blake Nelson's young adult novel. After conducting a series of auditions throughout high schools in the Pacific northwest, the auteur has cast newbie Gabe Nevins to topline the project about a skater boy whose life spirals into confusion and guilt after he accidentally kills a man. Jake Miller, Taylor Momsen, Lauren McKinney and Daniel Lui round out the cast. David Cress and Neil Kopp produce the film, which is being offered at AFM by MK2.
