Jag Bains won his third comp and third Veto of “Big Brother 25” this week — and it wasn’t just any old Veto. It was Otev. And with it, he joins the esteemed list of Otev champs. But will he defy the Otev curse and become only the second Otev winner after Cody Calafiore to go on to win the game?
Before Cody, no one had ever won both in the same season. Since Otev made its debut in Season 7 in 2006, it’s been in every installment except Season 10. Here are all the Otev champs:
Season 7: Janelle Pierzina
Season 8: Eric Stein
Season 9: Ryan Quicksall
Season 11: Jeff Schroeder
Season 12: Enzo Palumbo
Season 13: Adam Poch
Season 14: Dan Gheesling
Season 15: Elissa Slater
Season 16: Zach Rance
Season 17: Liz Nolan
Season 18: Michelle Meyer

U.S. producers shooting TV series like Riverdale, Yellowjackets and The Flash in and around Vancouver have made that city among North America’s top production hubs for Hollywood.
But a study from the Union of British Columbia Performers, representing local actors, and The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, has found American film and TV productions shot locally have, in recent years, significantly underrepresented or misrepresented women, people of color and other marginalized groups. The study examines the representation of gender, race/ethnicity, disability, age and sexual orientation among characters “based on prominence, billing, story role and traits” in films, TV shows and TV movies shot in 2018, 2019 and 2021, skipping 2020 due to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the report, the groups argue that authentically representing wider society on media screens can encourage greater diversity and inclusion and reduce racial and sexual caricatures and stereotypes.

Michael Bruner picked up his fifth comp win and fourth Veto this week on “Big Brother 24” when he won Otev. Sure, he was also aided by Terrance Higgins throwing it to him in a misbegotten attempt to save Daniel Durston, but still, a win is a win. That also means that his festie bestie Brittany Hoopes is in the “Bb” annals as a co-winner of Otev even though she was the first one to be eliminated from the comp. As a superfan, Michael is no doubt aware of the Otev curse and the fact that Cody Calafiore broke it in 2020 when he became the first Otev champ to win the whole game in the same season. That didn’t kick off a new trend, though, since Alyssa Lopez was evicted in seventh place last season. Can Michael or Brittany become the second?

Alyssa Lopez won Otev this week on “Big Brother 23” — or technically, she was thrown it by Kyland Young, who wanted her to win so he could get the second Veto since he bet on her in Veto Derby. No matter, she’s still in the “Bb” record books now as an Otev champ. The good news for her is that the Otev curse has been broken, by Cody Calafiore last year, but the bad news is that she’s unlikely to pull a Cody and win the whole shebang.
Until Cody last season, nobody had won the iconic Veto comp and gone on to win the season. Otev was introduced in Season 7, the first all-stars installment, in 2006 and has been played every year except Season 10. Here are all the Otev champs:
Season 7: Janelle Pierzina
Season 8: Eric Stein
Season 9: Ryan Quicksall

Summer is here, which means it's time for Big Brother fans to rejoice!
As the June 22 season premiere approaches, CBS has revealed the new batch of houseguests. But a season of Big Brother wouldn't be a season of Big Brother without some twists.
Twelve houseguests have been revealed so far, but fans of the reality competition know that there are usually at least 14 (if not more) contestants each season. In the past, the unrevealed houseguests have been either returning players or people who have interesting connections to the already revealed contestants.
No clues to this seasons' twists have been revealed yet,...

During AMC’s ongoing marathon rebroadcast of the Breaking Bad series, I caught the episode “Salud” and found myself wondering something strange: Walter White has cancer — but does he also have Huntington’s Disease?
Toward the end of the episode (while recovering from an impromptu beating at the hands of Jesse), Walt tells Walt Jr. that his father suffered from that very condition, rapidly declining in the hospital until his death. It’s clear that Walt’s childhood memory of his father’s body slowly disintegrating still haunts him. He admits that he can still hear the man’s labored breathing,...

The 20th anniversary DVD for the movie Nail Gun Massacre is pretty darn entertaining. It’s nice to see that a distribution company recognizes its fan-base. These guys have given us a “kill menu” and a “sex scene” menu without batting an eye. Just look at the way the marketing gurus have used nails to spell the word “nail gun” in the cover art. The film itself may be short on quality, but what it lacks in cinematography it makes up for in out and out 80′s nookie scenes. It Came From 1980 X brings you the joint DVD/VHS for a classic slasher, camp sleaze fest. We can all agree that it’s a bad movie, but that’s just the way we like ‘em. When you search the web for this movie you find it on everyone’s bad list, and it absolutely belongs there, but there’s plenty...
