Paramount’s Tony & Ziva NCIS spinoff is untitled no more. The two stars of the Europe-set series, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, got on Zoom to unveil the moniker of the offshoot Tuesday.
After referencing a couple of titles that had been floated, NCIS: Europe and NCIS: Trust No One, the duo announced that the official title of their new show will be NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
“It makes it really easy because the fans will know exactly what the show is. It’s about Tony and Ziva in Europe,” de Pablo said.
The action-packed spinoff, which has a 10-episode order, will follow Tony (Weatherly) and Ziva (de Pablo) as they find themselves on the run across the old continent.
Filming on the series — the second extension of the NCIS franchise beyond the U.S. after NCIS: Sydney — is slated to begin this summer in Budapest. John McNamara is the writer/showrunner.

The new series was given a straight-to-series order on February 28. “We’ve been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready,” said Weatherly and de Pablo at the time. “The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter. There’s really no stopping the NCIS franchise. CBS Studios is developing yet another NCIS spinoff series, but this one will bring back two fan-favourite characters from the original series. Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are set to reprise their roles of Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David for a 10-episode series destined for the Paramount+ streaming service.
Cote de Pablo departed NCIS in 2013, with Michael Weatherly leaving two years later. After Ziva supposedly died, Tony left the service to raise their daughter, but when Ziva was found to be alive, the pair reunited in Paris after completing a final mission. That’s where the new show will pick up. Per the show’s logline, “When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they...

The NCIS franchise is expanding again — with a pair of very familiar faces from its past.
Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly are set to star in an untitled, Paris-set spinoff of the series, reprising their roles as, respectively, Ziva David and Tony Dinozzo. The series order comes on the heels of Weatherly returning to the flagship CBS series last week as NCIS paid tribute to the late David McCallum.
De Pablo left NCIS in 2013, and Weatherly departed two years later. In the show’s story, Tony left the service to raise his and Ziva’s daughter after her supposed death. When she was discovered to be still alive years later (de Pablo made several guest appearances in season 17), she completed a final mission and was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris.
The new series will pick up from there. Per the show’s logline, “When Tony’s security company is attacked,...

Despite how the title card for "Fargo" confidently states that "This is a true story," the Coen brothers' classic crime thriller is, in fact, a work of fiction. That's common knowledge at this point, but the Coens were inspired by actual real-world events when constructing the story. Instead of an exact retelling of a true crime story, the screenplay is a bit of a hodgepodge of elements taken from several news events with a good dose of the Coens' own original input. Strangely enough, the notoriously grisly woodchipper scene, which seems like the most fabricated part of the whole tale, is actually the part of the film that is closest to reality.
One inspiration, according to an interview with The Huffington Post, was John McNamara, who defrauded $6 billion from General Motors. Another possible influence was the case of St. Paul attorney T. Eugene Thompson, who put a hit out on...

Apple TV Plus released a trailer for its upcoming dark comedy “Physical” starring Rose Byrne.
The 10-episode series, which premieres globally on June 18, follows Byrne’s character Sheila as she transitions from being a housewife to a radical female lifestyle guru after getting hooked on aerobics.
“After just one class you can feel it happening. You becoming you again,” Byrne narrates in the trailer. “Don’t underestimate me.”
At the start of the trailer, Sheila has a highly-regimented life, from eating only “clean, healthy foods” to focusing on her daughter’s schedule. But anyone wound so tightly is bound to break — or at least be harboring some secrets — and Sheila soon enough proves to be no different.
But when her husband’s job is in jeopardy she realizes she can’t trust “this ding-dong with [her] life” and luckily finds a new outlet in the favorite new exercise of the 1980s.

If you were hoping to see Quentin Coldwater one last time before The Magicians wrapped up its run this past Wednesday, then you were, sadly, out of luck.

But co-showrunner John McNamara tells TVLine there was no talk of bringing back Q during the farewell run, “because death has to be real, even on a fantasy show.

The Magicians cast its final spell during Wednesday’s series finale, and it was a doozy: Using the world seed, Alice, Margo, Josh and Fen were able to create Fillory 2.0 (complete with a field of bacon!). But there was a complication: The quartet were unwillingly transported to the new land, with no way of returning, leaving their friends back home confused by their mysterious vanishing. As one of the longer-running shows on Syfy, The Magicians has delivered plenty of entertainment with its humor, its universal themes, and its spellbinding goddamn magic. Hurry, hurry, hurry! The Brakebills gang just wants to be sedated.
The Magicians airs its annual musical episode this Wednesday (10/9c, Syfy), and TVLine’s got an exclusive sneak peek at one of the big numbers. In the above video, Eliot and Alice break out into a cover of the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” during a musical heist, with their pals quickly joining in on the performance. (Kady’s delivery of the classic ’70s tune is particularly impressive.)

Syfy fantasy series “The Magicians,” about a group of college students who travel through time and worlds to battle wildly imaginative creatures, draws to a close April 1 after five seasons, having taken viewers on a Harry Potter-meets-video-game thrill ride. Knowing that this is the end of the run gives MastersFX founder and president Todd Masters and his team one last chance to showcase the program’s most popular characters — using their own magic to deliver the makeup effects.
Series creators Sera Gamble and John McNamara had specific ideas about what they wanted in the show’s seven so-called questing creatures, which, when discovered, must grant the magician a wish that helps fulfill a quest. For instance, Sir Effingham (played by Sean Maguire) is half man, half pig, and he looks a bit like Benjamin Franklin.

Fans of The Magicians were surprised by the cancellation of this SyFy series recently. It was announced last week that the series will wrap on April 1 with the end of the current season, and those behind the series knew the end was near when the season began.
In an interview with TV Insider, Sera Gamble said the following about how she felt about the future of the season at the start of season five of the series:
“We had the sense going into this season that Syfy, in particular as our first platform, was kind of hitting the point of 'The cup is full and there's no more room.'”
Those involved did try to find a new network for the series, but that search failed. John McNamara spoke about that search:

A magical era of television has come to a close as Syfy has decided that The Magicians season 5, which is currently in progress, will mark the end of the series. Although the show commanded the network’s largest audience for years, it recently fell in the ratings in a season that was missing the story’s main character, Quentin Coldwater.
That controversial decision may not be solely to blame for the cancelation, and five years is a respectable run for any show. However, fans will most certainly wonder if Jason Ralph’s departure played a key role in the series’ demise. The Magicians season 5 has enjoyed stellar reviews here at Den of Geek, and there are high hopes that the season will be able to wrap up the story in a satisfying way.
“The Magicians has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons,” Syfy shared in a statement to THR.

The Magicians is officially coming to an end. On Tuesday, Syfy announced that the show's current fifth season will be its last. "The Magicians has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons," Syfy said in a statement to Deadline. "As we near the end of this journey, we want to thank John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lev Grossman, and our entire brilliant cast, crew, writers and directors for their beautiful creation. But most of all, we thank the fans for their tremendous support and passion. Because of you, magic will be in our hearts forever."
The show's last episode will air on Wednesday, April 1. Thankfully, Deadline reports that the show's creators actually wrote the season five finale "so it could also work as a series finale," so hopefully any loose ends will be tied up by the end of the season. The fantasy drama...
