The 8th annual Sydney Underground Film Festival is a power-packed event featuring outrageous cult films, provocative documentaries and wild short films that will run September 4-7 at its usual haunt, The Factory Theater.
Opening Night: The fest opens with Housebound, a New Zealand horror comedy by Gerard Johnstone about a woman in trouble with the law who comes to believe that her family home is haunted. The film will be preceded by a performance by Renny Kodgers and a free pizza party; and followed by an after party.

Rue Morgue fans, the wait is almost over. Written and directed by the Morgue's Rodrigo Gudino, The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh has a premiere screening date.
The Cannes Film Festival 2012 will be the place for the screening, with one show on May 19 and another on May 23. Set in 1983, following the first implementation of 'Automated Teller Machines', "High Life" is a new Canadian feature, lensed in Winnipeg, written/directed by Gary Yates, starring Timothy Olyphant, Rossif Sutherland, Joe Anderson and Stephen McIntyre.
In "High Life", following a visit from his former cellmate 'Bug' (McIntyre), 'Dick' (Olyphant) gets fired from his job as a hospital janitor.
Unemployed and in need of fast cash, Dick gets the idea to rob a brand new Atm machine. Enter 'Donnie' (Anderson) and 'Billy' (Sutherland) to help put the pieces into place.
But things don't go quite according to plan...
"...Alternately tragic and hysterical, the 'High Life’ perfect plan ends up anything but when one of the bank’s employees double-crosses them all. Toronto -- Jill Hennessy, Peter Stormare and Aaron Poole will topline the indie Canadian feature "Small Town Murder Scenes" by director Ed Gass-Donnelly.
The film, from 3 Legged Dog Films and Resolute Films and Entertainment, stars Stormare ("Fargo," "Prison Break") as an aging police officer who hides a violent past, Hennessy as his ex-wife and Poole as his partner on the beat.
The aging cop's newly reformed life unravels when he is thrust into a murder investigation in an Ontario Mennonite town and discovers that the prime suspect is his ex-wife's new beau, played by Stephen McIntyre.
The crime thriller, the follow-up to Gass-Donnelly's debut feature, "This Beautiful City," is to shoot in and around Listowel, Ontario.
Kinosmith will release the film in Canada.
