It’s a land of make-believe, but police weren’t enchanted with a recent call to Disneyland about an active shooter that turned out to be a hoax.
Dozens of Anaheim Police officers with guns drawn responded to the Disneyland Hotel upon reports of an active shooter.
The Anaheim Police Department responded with what was called a “significant police response” at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, according to Anaheim Police spokesperson Sgt. Jon McClintock.
There was no evidence of a shooting or anyone armed at the Disneyland Hotel, according to police.
The Fantasy Tower of the Disneyland Hotel was evacuated, according to Disneyland officials.
“There is currently no threat to the Disneyland resort or the surrounding area,” according to the Anaheim Police Instagram account. “There will be an increased police presence at the Disneyland resort and surrounding area throughout the evening.”...

Three people were hurt by a lamppost that likely fell down due to a strong gust of wind at Disneyland this morning. One person was taken to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries and two others were treated at the scene and released.
The light pole fell down just before 8:30 a.m. on Main Street in the Anaheim theme park, according to Santa Ana police Sgt. Jon McClintock. The Orange County Register reported that the post was located in the flowerbed around the Disneyland flagpole right near the main entrance to the park
It appears the heavy winds Monday morning brought the pole down, McClintock said.
In fact, at about the same time this morning, a gust of wind flipped a taxiing single-engine plane at John Wayne Airport. The pilot avoided injury.
