- Canadian actor who was long resident in the UK. He worked as a recreational therapist in a mental hospital in his native country, and claimed he gained more knowledge about acting in that role than he would do later. He arrived in England in 1949 and studied at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After working in radio and theatre, he was given a seven year contract with ABC Television (the British company) after appearing in the prison drama The Last Mile in 1957.
