Late NBA great and consummate Deadhead Bill Walton received a special tribute during Dead and Company’s performance at the Sphere in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 30.
The moment came during Dead and Co’s rendition of “Fire on the Mountain,” during which the Sphere’s immersive screen was already displaying a virtual scrapbook filled with archival Grateful Dead memories. The crowd then erupted in cheers when a photo of Walton in a tie-dye Dead shirt appeared on the screen.

Since the character’s inception on the big screen, Bond girls were a staple in most James Bond adaptations, until Casino Royale, as Daniel Craig refrained from using this term. But before Craig took the 007 gig and became the definitive modern James Bond, we had Pierce Brosnan as the charming British spy.
But unlike most Bond girls during the ’60s and ’70s, who were limited to being eye candy with ridiculous names, in Brosnan’s films, they defied those stereotypes. This was apparent in the character of Jinx Johnson, played by Halle Berry, who was even considered for her own spin-off film.

John Mayer just misses his friend Bob Saget. On Friday, on what would’ve been the late comedian‘s 68th birthday, Mayer shared a sweet post remembering Saget.
“I miss you the most when I’m exhausted and I just want to talk to my friend,” Mayer wrote, captioning a selfie of the pair. “I missed you when this magician was performing at this party I was at, and he was just okay, and I knew you’d have interjected with insanely funny one-liners, even if I couldn’t imagine what you would have said.

The long, strange trip just got a lot trippier.
Dead & Company opened their much-anticipated Sphere residency in Las Vegas on Thursday night, making good on the potential of the world’s most high-tech concert venue and delivering what has to be the most dazzling visual show in Grateful Dead history.
The group took the stage just past 7:30 p.m., opening with modest visuals — by Sphere standards, at least — for “Feel Like a Stranger,” as large live shots of Bob Weir and John Mayer were projected above the stage. It...

It’s no surprise that this week’s The Hollywood Reporter cover story on Andy Cohen would garner some attention — in it, the Watch What Happens Live host and Bravo producer spoke candidly with Co-Editor in Chief Maer Roshan about the accusations that had been swirling around the Real Housewives franchise, from on-set sexism to racism to alcohol and drug abuse, breaking his long silence about the controversy.
But the part of the interview that would garner the most attention had nothing to do with any of these claims: instead, it was a rather tangential query regarding the longtime friendship between the openly gay Cohen and straight rock star John Mayer, a relationship that has spurred reams of coy stories in both tabloids and the mainstream press.
“Your friendship with Mayer has been the subject of intense speculation,” Roshan noted. “People seem dubious that a straight rock star can have a close,...

World War II was still raging in May 1944. The allied invasion of Normandy — aka D-Day — was just around the corner on June 6th. Americans kept the home fires burning and escaped from the global conflict by going to the movies. Two of the biggest films of the year, Leo McCarey’s “Going My Way” and George Cukor’s “Gaslight,” recently celebrated their 80th anniversaries.
Actually, “Going My Way” had a special “Fighting Front” premiere on April 27th: 65 prints were shipped to battle fronts and shown “from Alaska to Italy, and from England to the jungles of Burma.” The sentimental comedy-drama-musical arrived in New York on May 3rd.
And it was just the uplifting film audiences needed. Bing Crosby starred as Father O’Malley, a laid-back young priest who arrives at a debt-ridden New York City church that is run by the older, set-in-his ways Father Fitzgibbon (Barry Fitzgerald). The elder...

Sammy Hagar was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday (April 30th), joined by a number of his famous friends for the ceremony.
Celebrity chef (and Hagar look-alike) Guy Fieri had the honor of being the emcee of the festivities, while John Mayer and Hagar’s longtime manager Tom Consolo also spoke at the event. In attendance were the Red Rocker’s Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony and Chickenfoot bandmate Chad Smith.

Mayer spoke of the pure joy that Hagar has for life, exclaiming, “Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, Sammy Hagar is having way more fun than you!”
Hagar, meanwhile, got emotional during his time at the podium, explaining that he “started out with nothing.” The rock legend continued, “We never owned a home, we barely owned a car. Alcoholic father [who was] abusive. My mother raised four kids without an education.

“More stars than there are in heaven” was once the slogan for Hollywood’s largest studio. Larger-than-life celebrities like Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Fred Astaire, Katharine Hepburn, Jean Harlow and Gene Kelly were common fixtures at MGM. Today, MGM is an IP outpost purchased by Amazon for $8.5 billion in 2022, but in its day, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer had the biggest lot in Hollywood and produced some of the most extravagant films. Located in Culver City, MGM’s famously sprawling lot began as it grew from the 40 acres owned by Samuel Goldwyn. The legendary MGM property was 3 miles long and housed more than 45 buildings and 14 stages, in addition to numerous outdoor sets that would be built over the years.
MGM was home to countless classic films, and in 1939 alone, the studio backed the timeless fantasy The Wizard of Oz and distributed the Oscar-winning Gone With the Wind, the Ernst Lubitsch/Greta Garbo comedy Ninotchka,...

John Mayer has legendary status among watch lovers. A major collector for years — renowned not only for his connoisseurship of luxury timepieces but also his knowledge of what makes some of the most complicated examples tick — he’s now joined the ranks of the few celebrities (LeBron James, Travis Scott) who have designed a watch in collaboration with Audemars Piguet.
Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak “John Mayer” Limited Edition
The new Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition is a grail-worthy watch specimen. In addition to its perpetual calendar complication — one of the most technically precise functions to pull off, in that it can accurately track and show the correct date of the month, no matter the length of the month or whether it’s a leap year — the new timepiece features a gorgeous deep-blue dial meant to evoke a starry, crystalline sky. The watch face also boasts a moon phase with glittery aventurine.

These include Meekah and the feature-length special Big Dino Adventure, while Blippi – an educational human with a distinctive bow tie who has various cartoon friends – will feature in numerous interstitials.
Nicolas Eglau, who runs Emea, Apac and global distribution for Moonbug, said the channel was inspired by the huge success of slightly older-skewing versions of CoComelon that have performed well on Netflix recently.

On Sunday night, for the 96th time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hand out Academy Award statuettes, which many have referred to since the early 1930s, and the Academy itself has described since 1939, as “Oscars.”
The Academy has long asserted that these shiny gold figurines — which are now the world’s most iconic prizes, even more recognizable than the Nobel or Pulitzer variety — depict a knight standing erect and holding, right hand over left, a crusader’s sword (in order to defend the film industry), which pierces beneath him a reel of film with five spokes (representing the original branches of the organization, producers, actors, directors, writers and technicians).
The nickname “Oscar,” meanwhile, has been variously attributed, without convincing evidence, to the Academy’s early executive director Margaret Herrick (who supposedly said it reminded her of an uncle named Oscar), actress Bette Davis (who claimed it...

“It Happened One Night,” which premiered at Radio City Music Hall on Feb. 22, 1934, helped usher in the screwball romantic comedy, changed the careers of stars Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, director Frank Capra and screenwriter Robert Riskin and transformed the Poverty Row Columbia Pictures into a major player. And let’s not forget, “It Happened One Night” also made Oscar history winning five major Oscars: picture, director, adapted screenplay and both actor and actress. It would be 41 years before “One Flew of the Cuckoo’s Nest” would accomplish the same feat at the Academy Awards.
Based on the short story “Night Bus,” the smart, endearing road movie focuses on spoiled rotten Ellie Andrews (Colbert) who has gone against her wealthy father’s (Walter Connelly) wishes by marrying the gold-digging King Westley (Jameson Thomas). New Year’s Eve broadcasts are usually their best when things start to go wrong, and lucky for us, CNN‘s New Year’s Eve Times Square with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen got delightfully unhinged when John Mayer randomly turned up to say hi from a cat cafe in Tokyo.

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper were allowed to drink again, but the highlight of CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast actually came courtesy of John Mayer, who appeared remotely from Cats in the Box, a cat bar in Tokyo.
Cooper could hardly contain his laughter as Mayer found himself surrounded by cats (and cats’ buttholes). At one point, the Dead & Company member even fed the cats with paste on his finger — all while keeping a straight face.
Mayer is currently amid a lengthy solo tour that runs through early spring (get tickets here). However, during the broadcast Cohen asked whether he has any further plans with Dead & Company (seemingly in reference to a report that the band would reunite for shows at Las Vegas’ Sphere). “I’m not at liberty to say… just yet,” Mayer responded. “But have hope, is what I’ll say.”

Anderson Cooper had an uncontrollable laughing fit during CNN‘s New Year’s Live special on Sunday night (December 31) when multi-time Grammy winner John Mayer called in from an unexpected location. During the annual broadcast, Cooper and his long-time co-host Andy Cohen linked up with Mayer via video call, with Cohen noting that the singer-songwriter is currently on tour performing in Japan. The video then popped up on the screen, showing Mayer at a car bar in Tokyo. The giggling started almost immediately as Cooper saw the parade of cats sauntering on the bar behind Mayer. “John, this doesn’t look sanitary,” Cohen said as a pair of felines licked each other in the background. “You know, I believe it passes all health codes, so I think it’s just fine,” Mayer replied. “But, yes, we are at a cat bar, it’s called Cats in the Box, in Tokyo,...

This John Mayer interview at a Cat Cafe in Tokyo is totally unhinged.

As My So-Called Life nears its 30th anniversary, Executive Producer Ed Zwick took a walk down memory lane Saturday to remind folks about working on the before-its-time drama that starred Claire Danes.
In a long X thread, Zwick shared an “origin story” about how he was first drawn to the work of Winnie Holzman before he would end up co-EPing her script with longtime producing partner Marshall Herskovitz. Zwick chronicles his work on My So-Called Life, as well as thirtysomething, The Last Samurai and Glory in his upcoming book “Hits, Flops and Other Illusions,” out in February.
“Kristy McNichol played ‘Buddy,’ an adolescent girl on ABC-tv’s Family,” Zwick began. “I’d write surly teenage dialogue and get network notes on my scripts with the initials N.O.B. meaning “not our Buddy.” I vowed someday I’d get to portray real adolescence.”

Superhero movies had entered something of a transitional period in 2007. Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" run had reached an unplanned end with the tepidly received "Spider-Man 3," leaving Sony facing the daunting prospect of rebooting a franchise that still had plenty of box office juice (the third installment racked up the webslinger's highest worldwide gross to date). Bryan Singer whiffed badly on the hugely expensive "Superman Returns," forcing Warner Bros. to pin its DC Comics hopes almost exclusively on Christopher Nolan's forthcoming sequel to "Batman Begins" (which was a modest commercial success). 20th Century Fox's "Fantastic Four" grossed just enough to merit a sequel, while the future of the "X-Men" franchise rested solely on the yoked shoulders of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
And then there was Marvel Studios, which, after watching their most popular characters make billions for other companies, yearned to control the narrative destinies of the characters they hadn't sold off.

Former Disney executive and Candle Media co-ceo Kevin Mayer says ensuring that ESPN is well positioned for the future is Bob Iger’s “first priority.”
“He has ideas to fix it and to strengthen it and to change its business model over time,” Mayer said during Yahoo Finance’s Invest conference on Tuesday.
In July, Iger told CNBC that he was searching for strategic partners who could help with content or distribution for an eventual launch of a fully direct-to-consumer version of the network. Potential partners that have reportedly been floated include tech and telecommunications giants like Amazon, Apple or Verizon as well as sports leagues themselves such as the NFL, NBA or MLB.
“We want to have content partners who can really strengthen our hand and allow us to create multiple tiers of offerings,” Mayer said. “And we want to have distribution partners, so you think digital, you think telcos,...

In the photo, Simpson sits on the couch in a pink tracksuit, lost in thought as a sunbeam illuminates her face.

On Thursday, she shared the picture again via her story, and wrote: “6 years ago.”

Simpson explained that her reliance on alcohol made her exhausted, her “mind and heart circling in the same direction.

Reigning chaos agent John Mayer has finally fulfilled an internet prophesy spawned nearly ten full years ago: he transitioned from Grateful Dead‘s “Dark Star” into “Your Body Is a Wonderland.” In 2015, the musician stepped into the Jerry Garcia role as Grateful Dead offshoot Dead and Company’s touring guitarist, and in the process inadvertently birthed the ultimate “What If” about the collision of their catalogs.

In the early 1940s, a young Lena Horne began an engagement at an intimate L.A. club called Little Troc, where her silken voice — with her perfect enunciation and her sophisticated interpretation of the lyrics — dazzled the likes of Marlene Dietrich, Cole Porter, Lana Turner and Greta Garbo. Among the many eyes that observed her during her run were those of the astute, sensitive Roger Edens, who was an integral member of the Freed Unit at MGM Studios. Led by innovative producer Arthur Freed, the unit consisted of musical artists who created many of MGM’s great musicals from the golden age: It had recently produced Babes in Arms (1939) and would strike gold with An American in Paris (1951), Singin’ in the Rain (1952) and Gigi (1958).
Within the Freed Unit, Edens stood out as a highly respected composer, arranger and associate producer who eventually won three Academy Awards. After seeing Lena perform,...

After arriving on the digital media scene in 2021, Candle Media made a splash by spending billions to acquire big-name media properties. That shopping spree has allowed Candle to assemble a strong portfolio, but the company’s bottom line may not meet expectations in 2023. According to a report from Bloomberg, Candle could miss earnings targets by 50% thanks to unforeseen slowdowns that have affected the company’s biggest subsidiaries.
The report indicated that Candle’s yearly profit will end up somewhere between $140 million and $170 million. That would be short of previous predictions, including a $330 million estimate and a more conservative figure supplied by Blackstone. The banking firm has supplied Candle with a ten-digit investment to support its acquisitions.
Candle’s two biggest properties are largely responsible for its financial shortcomings, according to Bloomberg. One of the company’s first acquisitions, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, is projected to deliver just 10% of its expected yearly earnings.

Earnings at Candle Media, the Blackstone-backed company founded by former Disney executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs, could come in about 50% below what its acquired companies had forecasted for 2023, according to Bloomberg.
The outlet, which cited sources familiar with the matter, said the shortfall stems from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and “Cocomelon” owner Moonbug Entertainment. Mayer and Staggs reportedly blamed a decline in advertising at YouTube, the Hollywood strikes and a spending pullback in the entertainment industry.
According to Bloomberg, Candle is expected to post a profit of around $140 million to $170 million, with Hello Sunshine expected to account for just 10% of projected earnings and Moonbug expected to account for about 30%. That’s below an earlier estimate of $330 million. Moonbug is reportedly expected to generate about $150 million in profit this year, while Hello Sunshine is on track for less than $10 million.

On "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," Kiernan Shipka's titular character spent a lot of her time torn between two love interests, but we're sorry to say that the actor never dated either of those costars Irl. However, even though she doesn't count Gavin Leatherwood and Ross Lynch among her exes (or current love interests), Shipka has been romantically linked to a few other guys over the years. She may have told Seventeen during a November 2018 interview that she was too busy with work to date, but she's definitely made time for some romance along the way.
In 2019, Shipka was linked to Christian Coppola, a member of the legendary Coppola family, and the pair appeared to be going strong in 2022. However, she was spotted out with John Mayer in both February and November 2022, and both appearances sparked dating rumors - though the pair haven't been seen together since and never addressed the rumors.

In the 1960s, Priscilla Presley gave Elvis Presley a gift that occupied many of his waking hours. She didn’t intend for this to happen. The present, while thoughtful, was a relatively simple one. Within several weeks, though, he built an entire room for it. According to Priscilla, this was typical of the musician. When he liked something, he could rarely consume it in moderation.

negAs much as John Mayer is known for being one of the music industry's most talented musicians, he's also garnered quite the reputation as a playboy. After all, the "Gravity" singer's long list of flings, hook-ups, and on-and-off relationships includes some of Hollywood's most high-profile female stars.
While Mayer dated a large number of women in the early 2000s, he actually hasn't officially dated anyone in the public eye since his relationship with Katy Perry fizzled out in the mid-2010s. He's also tried to correct some of the more negative perceptions about him a number of times since then. "I think a lot of people's last impression of me is outdated," he told The New York Times in a 2017 interview. "I've inherited a younger man's reputation. You can even break 'bad boy' into good bad boy and bad bad boy - I somehow managed to become a bad version of a bad boy.

Swedish-born Greta Garbo became a star with a string of hit films throughout the 1920s and 1930s before disappearing from screens in 1941 at the age of 36. Though she appeared in only a handful of titles, enough have remained classics to give her a special place in history. Let’s take a look back at 10 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1905, Garbo got her start in the silent era, acting in her native Sweden before coming to Hollywood at the behest of MGM studio chief Louis B. Mayer. She soon became a popular presence on the silver screen as a romantic leading lady. Her performance in “Flesh and the Devil” (1926) as a seductress who tears two friends apart proved she was a woman to die for.
Since English was not her first language, Mayer was rightfully nervous that the emergence of sound would destroy one of his biggest stars.
