- Although it is often confused, the credits in The Prince and the Pauper (1937) read that Billy played the role of Tom Canty, the pauper, and Bobby as Prince Edward. Historically, Prince Edward (1537-1553) was the son of Henry VIII and third wife Jane Seymour, who died just after giving him birth. The young Prince of Wales became Edward VI after the death of his father in January of 1547. The boy was very frail and sickly, however, and died just before reaching his 16th birthday.
- Throughout their brief, young careers, the boys would mischievously traded roles on the set of movies in which they appeared together. Their own mother couldn't tell them apart unless Billy was wearing his glasses or the twins were writing (Bobby was right-handed and Billy was left-handed).
- His identical twin Billy later followed his brother and quit acting to become a sound editor. He died in 2006, a year before Bobby.
- Served in the Army Air Forces during WWII and was stationed in the Phillippines at one point.
- Their last name rhymes with "walk.".
