New York -- An aspiring New York City actress has finally faced down the suspect she helped police capture in connection with her father's 1986 slaying.
Joselyn Martinez watched in court as Justo Santos pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment on murder and weapons possession charges. She said after the court appearance she felt "satisfaction."
Santos was arrested this month in Miami. He had been named a suspect soon after November 1986 killing of Jose Martinez in Manhattan but had fled to the Dominican Republic.
Joselyn Martinez says since 2008 she had been paying for online background search programs to look up Santos' name. One of her searches turned up a phone number and a Miami address. She handed her information over to police, leading to Santos' arrest.

When Joselyn Martinez was just nine years old, her father Jose Martinez was shot and killed outside his restaurant in New York City in 1986. Allegedly, one of the customers, Justo Santos, produced a gun and shot Jose.
The NYPD received information that Santos fled to the Dominican Republican and was put in prison there, so the police closed the case, NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne tells CNN.
But a year later, Santos was released from jail while the NYPD case remained closed.
"They should not have closed the case," says Commissioner Ray Kelly. "[It] should have been looked at to see if there was additional information as to whether or not he was out of jail."
Years later, Joselyn studied law and learned there is no statute of limitations on a homicide, which means a suspect can be brought to justice no matter how many years have passed since the crime occurred.

Imagine being stuck on the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland for 40 minutes. Worse, think about being a quadriplegic trapped on the attraction, unable to move as the other patrons are being evacuated, the music is blaring and an employee at the Anaheim amusement park is insisting on an immediate exit from the tunnel. In 2009, Jose Martinez found himself in that position. With his wife by his side and his blood pressure rising, Martinez says he experienced dysreflexia, a life-threatening nervous-system response to overstimulation. Eventually, he got out, but a lawsuit filed two years later

"The Insider" has confirmed with the office of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that law enforcement officials are searching the Las Vegas home of Dr. Conrad Murray. Jose Martinez of the Los Angeles DEA told Et that the Los Angeles Police Department, DEA, Las Vegas police, Nevada Department of Public Safety and Henderson police are assisting in serving search warrants to both Dr. Murray's house and office. The doctor -- who was with Michael Jackson on the day he died and is the subject of a manslaughter investigation -- allegedly gave Jackson the anesthetic Propofol on the night before his death, the Associated Press reports, citing an unnamed official. A law enforcement official tells the AP that Jackson had come to rely on the drug for sleep, and that a doctor would administer it intravenously to help him fall asleep -- and later stop the IV drip when he wanted to wake up.
