- A&E special: "Role Reversal" featuring Shelly Mars as the "gender coach" in this documentary that follows the experiences of four people transformed into their opposite gender for a month and experience life in New York City walking in the other guy's/gal's shoes. Directed by Emmy-nominated director, Maro Chermeff. Aired in 2003.
- HBO special: "Drag King Special" documentary airing in 1998 that examines the avante garde world of drag king performers and featuring personal interviews and performances by Shelly Mars as her character, Martin, the chauvenistic Wall-Streeter with an obsession for lesbians.
- Kids in the Hall special on CBS - starred with Scott Thompson and Bruce McCulloh in a short film titled, "Intimate Circumstances" in an hour-long comedy special that aired on CBS in 1997.
- Sex on Mars: an original one-woman show created and performed by Mars, who explored the after-shocks of growing up in the mid-west in a dysfunctional Jewish family. After enjoying a five-month run in Province Town, MA, the show toured the U.S. and Europe in 2001.
- Whiplash (Tales of a Tomboy): a signature Mars one-woman coming-of-age tale of sexual idenitity, incest, and the Zen results in this provocative comedy. Off-Broadway run at the Grove Street Playhouse in Manhattan.
