The alien invasion comedy Hillbillies vs. Alien Chickens has taken home the top prize in this year’s Horror2Comic Contest.
The script from Nicholas Tana is described as a twist on the alien invasion genre, and centers on a vegan hillbilly who must team with a government agent to combat invading alien chickens.
Winning scripts in the Horror2Comic contest are made into comic books, and in turn are put into development as a feature or a TV show via Motor Content, the company whose credits include History’s Knightfall and the Michael Keaton feature The Founder. The contest has its origins as an offshoot of Script2Comic, which focuses on all genres, not just horror.
Scout Comics published last year’s Horror2Comic winner, She Bites, a story centering on a 134-year-old vampire trapped in the body of a 9-year-old girl.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, the director of “Me And Earl and the Dying Girl,” will next direct a filmed adaptation of “The Fortress of Solitude,” the acclaimed, best-selling novel by Jonathan Lethem, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
“The Fortress of Solitude” is set at Amazon Studios and will be adapted by playwright Dave Harris for the screen. Gomez-Rejon will also produce.
The film is based on Lethem’s semi-autobiographical novel from 2003 about two teenagers in 1970s Brooklyn, one white and one Black, who discover a magic ring with the directive to fight against evil. The book grapples with racial politics of the time, gentrification and music culture.
Lethem will also executive produce the film alongside Joshua Malkin. Celeste Holben will associate produce.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will mount a film adaptation of “The Fortress of Solitude” at Amazon Studios, continuing his creative relationship with the streaming giant.
Behind the festival hit “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” and Benedict Cumberbatch’s “The Current War,” Gomez-Rejon will direct the project based on Jonathan Lethem’s New York Times bestselling novel. Acclaimed playwright Dave Harris is writing the script.
“The Fortress of Solitude” tells the story of two friends, Dylan Ebdus and Mingus Rude, who come of age in 1970s Brooklyn. After receiving a magic ring with the directive to fight evil, Dylan and Mingus forge an indelible bond. But as the years pass, their experiences and opportunities grow increasingly disparate. There are things even a magic ring can’t solve: Dylan is white and Mingus is Black, and in America, that makes a world of difference.

Just in time for Halloween, The Coalition Group and writer Joshua Malkin are developing a film around the infamous Los Feliz Murder Mansion that will be based on a popular Medium.com article written by Jeff Maysh, TheWrap has learned. The true story centers around the infamous home on Glendower Place in Los Feliz, California where, according to legend, a man killed his wife and attempted to murder his small children before poisoning himself. Even more frightening is the fact that the home has not been lived in or touched for more than 50 years, and many relics from that fateful night.

Chicago – Horror fans heard the buzz surrounding “Cabin Fever” for months before it came out and the film launched Mr. Eli Roth to the “Hostel” films and even a role in the multiple Oscar nominee “Inglourious Basterds”. That film has now been released on Blu-ray to coincide with its straight-to-dvd sequel “Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever,” itself directed by an already-acclaimed new horror director, “House of the Devil“‘s Ti West.
“Cabin Fever 2” DVD Rating: 1.0/5.0
“Cabin Fever” Blu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0
“Cabin Fever” undeniably had a twisted, dark sense of humor but West’s “Cabin fever 2” takes it several steps further, practically pitching his sequel as a comedic spoof of ’80s teen horror flicks. He moves the action to a high school and keeps the flesh-eating action in place, but his tone is severely tongue-in-cheek from the animated opening credits to exaggerated faculty members to the appearances by over-the-top personalities like Mark Borchardt,...

When Ti West publicly disowned Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever I was desperate to see the finished film. If Lionsgate, a studio known for staying Out of their talents way, needed to re-cut it and change the ending then it must be a gong-show. Well, I don't know if I'm relieved or disappointed, but either Lionsgate fixed whatever was wrong with it, or Cabin Fever 2 was never the turkey West made out to be. Quite the opposite in fact.
Cabin Fever 2 is a fun and fast-paced, gross-out comedy with likable actors and an irresistible penchant for the juvenile. Easily as good as other recent films of its ilk (I'm thinking Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer and Dance of the Dead), the film is a deliriously goofy blend of...

On a perfect spring day, Fango drives down the tree-lined streets of Wilmington, North Carolina to the set of Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever. People are out enjoying the weather, completely unaware that a deadly killer is loose in their city. The attacker is quick, violent and leaves a bloody mess; worst of all, this merciless enemy is invisible to the naked eye. Yes, the flesheating virus from Cabin Fever is back, hungry for more hosts and getting a new lease on life in the Lionsgate sequel (hitting DVD February 16 after a lengthy delay).
Fango arrives—sans hazmat suit—at Williston Middle School in downtown Wilmington, ground zero for the virus and location for the sequel’s final days of shooting. A quick glimpse of movie trucks and shuffling extras around the parking lot confirms we’re in the right place. Inside the school’s auditorium, a group of about...

Cabin Fever 2 from director Ti West will hit DVD and Blu-Ray formats beginning February 16th, 2010. The film will have a gag real, director's commentary, and making of featurette. Not to be missed, Cabin Fever 2 will start right where the previous film ended. Unfortunately for some high school students "a killer virus" will ruin a prom or making it a lot more bloody interesting at the very least. A trailer is currently unavailable, but a synopsis is.
A synopsis for Cabin Fever 2 here:
"Cabin Fever delivered terror in the flesh but your flesh will crawl with Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, the bloodcurdling sequel to hit horror film. Days after a killer virus consumed his friends; Paul emerges from a ditch by a river. Though his body has been ravaged by the virus, he is determined to survive and to warn others of the danger. Note: This review does contain minor Spoilers
Cheerfully gory and revolting, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever is the fun sequel to Eli Roth's cult classic that recently made it's debut on the last night of Screamfest L.A.
Starting immediately after the events of the first film, Paul (top-billed Rider Strong in a two-minute cameo) climbs out of the creek with the virus eating away at him, and he's promptly mowed down by a schoolbus (hardly a 'spoiler', having been revealed in the film's marketing materials).
The bottled water company from the first film delivers drinks contaminated with the flesh-eating virus to a local high school, where likable John (Noah Segan) and his nerdy friend Alex (Rusty Kelley) attend class. John has an unrequited crush on Cassie (Alexi Wasser), but is afraid of her angry kickboxer boyfriend.
By the plot, you can see the sequel is a classic John Hughes movie set-up,...

Forget Swine Flu, the only illness you want to be innoculated against is the flesh-rotting sickness that spread through Cabin Fever!
When Cabin Fever opened in 2002, with it's audacious mix of horror, gore and comedy, it was a surprise hit. Introducing the world to Fango reader-turned-filmmaker Eli Roth and scream queens Cerina Vincent & Jordan Ladd, Cabin Fever got strong reviews and the cover of Fangoria. Even though it had an ending that left itself open for one in a genre that thrives on them, Cabin Fever never got a sequel... until now.
Seven years after the original, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever made it's world premiere at Screamfest Horror Film Festival at Hollywood's Mann Chinese 6 this past weekend. Directed by Ti West (House Of The Devil), it picks up where the original left off.

After a long wait, Ti West's Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever will be seen in 2009. The sequel to Eli Roth's 2003 indie debut, which grossed $30 million worldwide, is going to debut on DVD sometime in April. The story unleashes the flesh-eating virus that plagued the first film's cast once again, this time on a high school prom. Rider Strong, Noah Segan, Alexander Isaiah Thomas, Giuseppe Andrews and Alexi Wasser star. Joshua Malkin scripted the follow-up.
