Charlotte Rampling and Sally Hawkins have signed on to co-star in the Keira Knightley starrer Never Let Me Go for Fox Searchlight and Film4, which also stars the previously announced Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan. Alex Garland (28 Days Later) adapted the screenplay, which revolves around a trio (Knightley, Mulligan and Garfield) who grew up in a boarding school with no contact or knowledge of the outside world until they discover they are clones grown for the sole purpose of organ donation. Legendary music video director Mark Romanek is getting behind the helm this Tuesday in the UK. Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich are producing for DNA Films, where the project was developed. I can't tell you how much I wish a certain summer film had already been released so I could discuss the nature of Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go. However, to spoil a film I am sure many are looking forward to for the sake of a bit of casting announcement seems silly so I will remain mum as I report word out of Screen Daily that Romanek's next film has begun principal photography in the UK and a four new names have been added to the cast. We had previously known the film to star Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield as a trio who grew up in a boarding school with no contact or knowledge of the outside world until they discover the haunting truth about their existence. Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan are also set to set to star. Producing are Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich via their London-based DNA Films company. Screenplay by producer Alex Garland involves three people who were raised in a boarding school with no contact with the outside world who later realize they're clones and are being grown merely for organ donation purposes. Knightley was last seen in "The Duchess" and is up next in the John Maybury-helmed limited release "The Edge of Love" with Sienna Miller. Shooting begins in April in Norfolk, England. »

Keira Knightley has been tapped to star in the Fox Searchlight upcoming sci-fi thriller "Never Let Me Go." Director Mark Romanek will helm the cloning-themed project.
The plot, which sounds a dead ringer for the 2005 Michael Bay flick "The Island," revolves around a trio who grew up in a boarding school with no contact or knowledge of outside world until they discover that they're actually just clones grown in a lab for organ donation.
Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan join the cast.
As per Variety, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich will produce through their DNA Films banner with the film's screenplay scribe Alex Garland. Film 4 will also produce.
