- He did freelance work on several Charlie Brown specials, beginning with "A Boy Named Charlie Brown".
- Animator, with Disney from 1933, subsequently with Hanna-Barbera studio. His work at the latter included Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Smurfs and Tom and Jerry. Winner of a Winsor McCay Award.
- He animated Cleo the goldfish and Figaro the cat in "Pinocchio" and the "Nutcracker Suite" fish dance in "Fantasia".

- In 2015, Lusk was the recipient of the Winsor McCay lifetime achievement award at the Annies.
- Served with the U.S. Marines in its newly created Animation Unit during World War 2.
- Four children: James Allen (1944), Roberts Christine (1947-2000), Susan (1948-2009), and Marilyn Inez (1951).
- His son is Skip Lusk.
- Aside from animation, Lusk also directed multiple cartoon films and series, including the Peanuts TV specials and movies.
- In the early 1990s, Lusk retired after a career which spanned some 60 years.
