Will Packer Productions and Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Studios are teaming to develop an untitled project based on Evan Ratliff’s Bloomberg article, “The Fall of the Billionaire Gucci Master.”
The companies won the rights in a highly competitive situation and have set up the project at Universal Pictures.
Ratliff’s article digs into the story of Nigerian Instagram influencer Ramon Abbas. The figure otherwise known as Hushpuppi, or the Billionaire Gucci Master, is alleged to have perfected a simple internet scam that allowed him to launder millions of dollars.
Packer and Abu’s project is described as a globetrotting action thriller — a hybrid of Catch Me If You Can and The Usual Suspects.
Writer discussions are said to be progressing quickly.
Will Packer and James Lopez will produce through their Will Packer Productions, with Abudu producing for EbonyLife.

Universal has released the first official trailer for Little, the forthcoming body-swapping comedy starring Regina Hall, Black-ish star Marsai Martin, and Insecure‘s Issa Rae. Tina Gordon directed the Will Packer Productions (Girls Trip) pic, which can be compared to films like Tom Hanks’ Big or Jennifer Garner’s 13 Going On 30 — but in reverse.
Hall plays Jordan Sanders, a snarky tech mogul who, from the trailer, shows little regard for her seemingly ambitious and obsequious assistant, April (Rae). After a confrontation with a young girl, Hall wakes up to find that she is a tween (Martin) again and has to lean on her assistant, the only one in on the secret, to run the company, while she heads back to grade school.

Back when we first saw the IndieGoGo campaign on ComicMix for Hullabaloo we were freaking out. A Steampunk animated girl superhero in the hand-drawn 2D Disney style…sign us up! So, imagine our happiness when we happened to run into Hullabaloo creator James Lopez at Long Beach Comic Expo.
Well, first we had to buy all sorts of awesome art from his table, but then we got down to business asking all of our questions about the collection of 4 short animated films that will soon (but not soon enough) be on the festival circuit and on DVD.
What we didn’t know is that James Lopez has for a long time been one of our favorite Disney animators. He was the animator for Timon in The Lion King and the farm animals in Maddy’s favorite movie — Home On The Range (store that away for Tweeks trivia later on). He’s also worked on Pocahontas,...

Traditional 2D animation is virtually dead for film. The only place we see it now is on TV and in online web series. It's kind of sad because traditional animation is such a great and beautiful art form. I studied traditional animation in college, and watching its demise has been heartbreaking.
There's a team of Disney veteran animators though who have joined forces to try and breathe new life into the dying art form. They are looking to create an animated steampunk adventure called Hullabaloo. It will be a hand drawn animated short that they hope will turn into a web or TV series or a feature length animated movie, which would be amazing!
The story revolves around two incredibly smart female inventorsFrom what they show in the campaign video it looks like it has a lot of potential. Here's the synopsis:
