In physics, the three-body problem is ugly. When you have one or two objects exerting gravity on a body, it moves in a predictable pattern. Add a third and its chaos.
In 2024, the three-body problem in media is that every piece of art has a creator, a consumer and politics. So when Netflix’s sci-fi series 3 Body Problem debuted on March 21, anti-woke crusaders such as VCs Marc Andreessen and Andrew Chen only made it one scene in before posting that it was a cri de coeur to end the far-left agenda. Two days after the show dropped, Chen, a Vc at a16z, posted on X, “The opening scene just punches you in the face. Irl cancel culture driven by high school and college students. Science and academia becoming politicized. Tearing down the past. Etc.” A day later, his boss Andreessen posted similar thoughts.

"Cheers" is, by several measures, one of the most successful shows in the history of television. It ran for 11 seasons and 275 episodes — a number that is downright unthinkable in the modern age. It also remains beloved to this day, which is not something that can be said of many shows from that same era. So much of it can be boiled down to the lovable characters, and few were more lovable than Norm.
Played by George Wendt, Norm appeared on nearly every episode of the show and was always greeted with a warm welcome. Not just from the audience, but from the other patrons at the bar as well who would, in a running gag, yell "Norm!" in celebration every time he would enter, followed by a joke. It turns out that implementing this running gag all of the time ended up giving the writers a bit of a headache...

When you hear many actors talk, they often speak about wanting to play roles vastly different from who they are as people. Acting can be something of an escape that can challenge their everyday lives. However, when you usually hear about parts like this, they tend to exist in the extreme. Sometimes they involve playing a real-life person, or they're playing some fantastical creation in a genre piece. Rarely do you hear this kind of talk when they are just playing, like, a regular dude. Parts like those tend to go to people fairly similar to the characters they play who can imbue those regular folks with some kind of innate charisma within the actor.

Performers are making the most in industry history. If you’re following the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, this may sound shocking, but I’m not talking about mainstream Hollywood. I’m referring to the so-called “Other Hollywood” — the porn industry, which is in the midst of a financial renaissance thanks to big tech.
Yet, if you read (or listen to) mainstream media, you hear horror stories about how OnlyFans, Pornhub, and other firms are ripping off performances. Take the Ankler’s Martini Shot podcast — shockingly, not about porn...

Cheers to this one. Dan Aykroyd will tend bar for — or, rather, host — A History of the World in Six Glasses, a six-part comedic docuseries coming to Fox Nation early next year. The show also features fellow Saturday Night Live alums Jim Belushi, Jon Lovitz, and Kevin Nealon along with Cheers stalwart George Wendt.
Set to premiere in January 2024 on the streamer, the series will chronicle the history of beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, soda and their respective impact on the world. Its brewmaster is writer-director Rob Long, a former executive producer of NBC’s Cheers.
“I laughed out loud watching every episode and learned so much about the cultural impact of these iconic beverages,” Fox Nation President Jason Klarman said.
A History of the World in Six Glasses was developed by Play House Studios.

Fox Entertainment has brought on SideCar, its content development accelerator, and writer and executive producer Rob Long to develop the multi-camera comedy, “The Texanist.”
Variety exclusively learned in January that Fox was in the very early stages of developing the series, which is based on a long-running advice column from writer David Courtney. According to Texas Monthly, The Texanist — which “has taught many a well-intentioned Texan how to properly conduct him- or herself,” says the magazine — is its most-read feature.
The comedy will focus on Dave, an Austin-area radio show host who doles out advice to Texas natives and newcomers on “the true Texas way.” But as Texas evolves and changes, “it’s Dave’s job, with the help of his wife and family and co-workers, to figure out which changes to embrace and which to reject,” per Fox.

Fox has set Cheers alum Rob Long to write and the Gail Berman-run SideCar Content Accelerator to produce The Texanist, a multi-camera comedy inspired by David Courtney’s Texas Monthly column. The project had been on fast-track off-cycle development since the broadcast network in January acquired the IP and launched a search for a writer to adapt it.

In the cutthroat environment of the prime-time landscape, it’s not unheard of for a series to make its debut and receive its walking papers within the same week. For a sitcom to end its first season rated #74 out of 77 shows yet still survive to see a second season, that’s nothing short of miraculous. Yet that’s exactly what happened with “Cheers” — and look how things worked out: Not only did this conceptually simple show about a Boston bar owned and its stable of regulars find its way out of its ratings doldrums, it became the top-rated television series in America, carrying on for eleven seasons before anyone said, “Last call!”
When “Cheers” closed its doors on May 20, 1993, NBC pulled out all the stops, promoting the finale so vociferously that any series would’ve had trouble living up to the hype. Thankfully, the episode was every bit the ratings...

“Kevin Can Wait” has been canceled by CBS after two season, Variety has learned.
The CBS sitcom stars Kevin James, Leah Remini, Taylor Spreitler, Mary-Charles Jones, James Digiacomo, Ryan Cartwright, Lenny Venito, Gary Valentine, and Leonard Earl Howze. James, Rock Reuben, Rob Long, Jeff Sussman, Andy Fickman, Tony Sheehan, and Steve Mosko are executive producers for Sony Pictures TV and CBS Television Studios.
“Kevin Can Wait” underwent a creative overhaul between seasons one and two, with original co-star Erinn Hayes’ character written off the show and Remini joining the cast, reuniting James with his former “King of Queens” co-star.
But the show still saw a big ratings slide in its second season. The cancelation after investing in two seasons is a tough cut for Sony Pictures Television, which will shop the series to other buyers.

CBS has opted not to pick up a third season of its Kevin James comedy series Kevin Can Wait.
This is one of the biggest casualties at CBS this season. The network had set out to shake things up on Monday, where its ratings fortunes had fallen. It has now canceled Kevin Can Wait, Superior Donuts and Scorpion and only has renewed Man with a Plan.
Fueled by the popularity of its star Kevin James and boosted by The Bing Bang Theory as a lead, Kevin Can Wait got off to a blazing start in fall 2016 and went on to become a sturdy Monday 8 Pm anchor. The series ranked as the most watched and highest rated new comedy last season. But there was some ratings decline over the course of the season.
Additionally, midway through Season 1, the series parted ways with co-creator and showrunner Bruce Helford, who now steers ABC’s Roseanne revival.

Conservative pundit Ann Coulter provoked her customary amount of protest by appearing at a talk at Columbia University last night, though her message was a 180-degree shift from the one in her book In Trump We Trust.
President Donald Trump’s performance thus far “kind of breaks my heart,” Coulter said. “He’s not giving us what he promised at every single campaign stop.” She added, “I knew he was a shallow, lazy ignoramus, and I didn’t care. … What I’m disappointed in is he’s doing everything ‘Jeb-exclamation point’ and Marco Rubio said they were going to do.” Chief among the let-downs, she said, was immigration policy, where Trump has not fulfilled many of his campaign promises, including getting his famous border wall built.

Ever since Season 2 of Kevin Can Wait premiered in late September, fans have wondered one thing: How did the wife die? Turns out, we don't really know. And after many more episodes of the CBS series, we still have no clue. We're just hoping we get more insight on Donna Gable's untimely death at some point this season. In the season's second episode, we saw Kevin Gable (played by Kevin James) trying to be a super dad by packing his kids' lunches and making sure he had them prepared for all their after-school activities. After Jack and Sara told their older sister, Kendra, that Kevin was acting a little over-the-top, she had a talk with him where she mentioned her mom's passing but didn't give any information as to how she died. Vanessa (portrayed by Leah Remini) also mentioned to Kevin that he lost his wife, Donna (played by Erinn Hayes...

2017-10-17T07:34:32-07:00Here's the Real Reason 'Kevin Can Wait' Dumped Erinn Hayes
If you think the producers of Kevin Can Wait killed off Erinn Hayes' because of some kind of personal or professional problems with the actress, Kevin James says you're wrong. James says that the change was made because the show's writers and producers couldn't come up with any more story ideas for a sitcom about a two-parent family. The decision to ditch Hayes' character, James says, was made to ensure that the sitcom continued to be fresh and original. So they brought in Remini, James' co-star from his last sitcom, The King of Queens. Doesn't sound like a recipe for freshness to us, but we're not network TV producers.

It’s a question every Kevin Can Wait fan has been asking: Why did they kill off Donna?...

Kevin James is breaking his silence on why Kevin Can Wait shockingly killed off its female lead.
Over the summer, it was revealed that James’ TV wife, Donna (played by Erinn Hayes), would be dead when the CBS sitcom kicked off its sophomore season. Leah Remini, who starred as James’ onscreen wife for nearly a decade on King of Queens, replaced Hayes on a full-time basis.
News of Hayes’ abrupt departure was surprising to viewers. While Kevin Can Wait showrunner Rob Long said the decision to kill Donna off was done “out of respect for the character,” James had a slightly different take. (Remini, for her part, defended her place on the show, writing on premiere night that she’s “been having the time of my life being reunited with my favorite funny man.”)
"The plot of the show didn't have enough drive," James said in a new interview with the New York Daily News. "If we got through...

And that's that. It seems that Erinn Hayes won't make even the slightest appearance in Kevin Can Wait's season 2. In the premiere, which aired on Monday, September 25, it was revealed in the first scene that her character, Donna Gable, had died.
The CBS comedy briefly mentioned her absence when Kevin Gable (Kevin James) received a postcard for her gym saying they missed her.
At the beginning of its second season, Kevin Can Wait had to get rid of one of its main characters and significantly alter the role of another one. How would the series' writers explain the absence of Erinn Hayes' character, to whom Kevin James' character had been married for years and years? Pretty offhandedly, it turns out. Read on to find out how it went down.

Kevin Can Wait has made its highly-anticipated return following Erinn Hayes’ surprising exit.
The CBS sitcom parted ways with their female lead, who played Kevin’s wife, Donna, at the end of season one, citing creative and personal reasons and announcing their decision to kill the character off.
On Monday’s season two premiere, Donna’s sudden absence was felt immediately, as Kevin (Kevin James) struggled to pack lunch for his youngest kids, while elder daughter Kendra (Taylor Spreitler) tried to help her dad out. But things turned somber when the mail delivered a reminder of the family's late matriarch, in the form of a "We miss you" postcard from Donna's gym.
"Give me that, I will call them right now," Kendra insisted. "It's been over a year since she died, they shouldn't still be sending this."
The premiere culminates with Kendra's wedding, and before the ceremony, she and Kevin share an emotional moment, remembering...

If you watch Arrow, you no doubt came to know and love Nyssa al Ghul.
The Arrowverse is giving you another chance to know and love one of Ra's al Ghul's daughters with the introduction of Talia al Ghul.
Lexa Doig (Continuum) will take the role of Talia and will first be introduced on Arrow Season 5 Episode 10.
We were first made aware of her presence on an episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow when they visited the past, so we can assume she's been using the Lazarus Pit to stay young.
Talia, like her sister before her, is a fierce warrior, but she's not one to pick sides. Instead, she creates one for herself. Interesting!
If you're a baseball fan, you love the World Series. If you're a Cubs or Indians fan, nothing in the world will keep you from watching Game 7 of the World Series tonight on Fox.

The series, called Please Don't Go, has been ordered to script and will be written by Meaghan Oppenheimer (We Are Your Friends, Fear the Walking Dead) and follow a divorce attorney in Dallas whose life is unraveling (as is the premise of many an ABC drama).
