The Motley Fool announced today that Chris Hill, longtime host of the Motley Fool Money podcast and radio show, is leaving at the end of the month. One of The Motley Fool’s longest-tenured employees, Hill leaves the company after nearly 26 years.
“Getting the chance to create and host Motley Fool Money has been the highlight of my time at The Motley Fool,” said Hill, who has hosted the show since its first episode in February 2009. “One of the things I’ve always loved is the team approach we’ve taken to helping listeners understand what’s happening on Wall Street, bringing a long-term perspective to daily market news, and offering stock ideas and analysis. We have a deep bench, and that same team approach will continue after I’m gone. With the show in such a position of strength, the time is right for me to explore the next chapter in my professional life.

Marc Webb managed to make just one character-driven feature, the quirky rom-com “(500) Days of Summer,” before he turned his attentions to the studio world, with “Amazing Spider-Man” and its sequel. Webb’s foray into the superhero world yielded uneven results: While both films cracked over $700 million at the global box office and made an effective case for Andrew Garfield as the web-slinger, overall returns were not nearly as hefty as Sony had hoped (Webb’s “Amazing Spider-Man 2” is the lowest earner of the franchise) and critical reception was decidedly mixed.
Now Webb is back to his roots with “Gifted,” a good-hearted family drama that’s a bit like “Good Will Hunting” for the elementary school set — which is to say, solid and familiar, but not exactly a triumphant return to form.

This week’s Vulture cover story, on Adam McKay’s The Big Short, asks whether America is angry enough for a Hollywood version of Occupy Wall Street, and if McKay’s brand of dick jokes can actually teach us something about the financial crisis and what went wrong in 2008. The man who really knows what went wrong is Michael Lewis, the author of the book on which the movie is based and a few other masterworks of financial journalism. Here, he talks about the Hail Mary long shot of making of the movie, its chances to make audiences furious about bailouts, and why no one really got all that furious the first time around. What did you think of the movie? The hair. The hair is their hair. I was shocked by how close, especially the principals, captured the actual people. Christian Bale was so much like Michael Burry that...

Chicago – Fans who dreams of getting a role in the new “Twilight” movie traveled hundreds of miles to get to Canada this past weekend for an opening casting call for the highly anticipated “New Moon” but it was a dead end for most of the anxious teenagers.
The Chris Weitz-directed sequel will star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, and perhaps Lucy Hale, AnnaLynne McCord and Dakota Fanning, all of whom were the subject of casting rumors recently.
The Vancouver Sun reports that hundreds of teenagers were turned away from the “New Moon” casting call, including some people who had flown from as far away as Florida and lined up outside the Second Avenue Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
At around 12:30pm, casting assistants told the people lined up outside the studios that there would be no more people allowed in the building. Apparently, the...

Times Colonist has an insane and sort of funny article about the New Moon casting call that went on today in Vancouver and how hundreds of people showed up in hopes of being cast.Below is an excerpt from the articleHundreds of First Nations teenagers lined up in front of Vancouvers Second Avenue Studios Sunday morning at an open casting call rumoured to be for New Moon the sequel to last years vampiric blockbuster Twilight.Attendance was so strong in fact casting assistants had to cut off the line at 1230 p.m. sending hundreds of disappointed fans home without auditions. This is more than we expected said Bim Narine a casting assistant at Vancouvers AikinsCossey. Its definitely a good turnout. The crowd which ran all the way down second avenue and around the corner of Crowe Street saw fans and aspiring actors from as far as Florida who had been...
