I don't know exactly what I was expecting from the announcement of who would play the lead in Alice in Wonderland for Tim Burton. I do know exactly that I wouldn't have guessed Mia Wasikowska. Nope. Probably would've lost that wager.

But we've come to expect the unexpected from Burton, so it's shouldn't be unexpected that he went outside the normal channels, plucking an Australian teenager for one of the biggest roles imaginable. Though there have been plenty of TV movies and odd offshoots of this story over the years, a live action film version of Lewis Carroll's novel has never been realized before. And at that, it still won't entirely be now.

That's because Burton will adapt Alice in Wonderland in live action and performance capture, presenting the whole thing in 3-D, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter. An ambitious project to be sure, Alice in Wonderland begins filming in November.

Lindsay Lohan has revealed that she still has the occasional glass of champagne. The actress, who completed a two-month stint in rehab for alcohol addiction last year, made the admission in an interview with The Observer. She said: "These days I drink buckets of green tea and a glass or two of champagne at night." The 22-year-old also said that fries from McDonalds are her "guiltiest pleasure". (more)

Teen movies Clueless, Mean Girls and Pretty In Pink are set to hit the video game market.

Fans of Alicia Silverstone, Lindsay Lohan and Molly Ringwald will get the chance to become the actresses' characters onscreen, thanks to the games, which are being created by Hollywood studio Paramount.

Paramount bosses handpicked the titles to kick-off the studio's collaboration with gaming firm Legacy Interactive, reports Daily Variety.

The three films were chosen because of their appeal to female audiences. Paramount will roll out the trio - which will be low-cost 'casual video games' - before moving on to more expensive projects next year.

Lindsay Lohan's new range of leggings has been branded a success after the range sold out in stores across the U.S.

The Hollywood actress launched fashion accessories line 6126 - named after Marilyn Monroe's birthdate - earlier this month.

And the range has already sold out - with customers being placed on a waiting list until stores can order new stock.

Los Angeles boutique owner Jaye Hersh tells E! Online, "The collection is blowing out, we were so overwhelmed by the reaction. We have launched other celebrity collections here, and this one is just flying through the door.

"We launched Lauren Conrad's collection, we've had Mandy Moore, we've had various different celebrity lines, but this one really seems to be hitting home."

The actress expressed surprise when her arrival in the city alongside girlfriend Samantha Ronson went unnoticed. Lindsay Lohan's father Michael will have to wait a bit longer to find out if a 13-year-old girl is his love child - he cannot have the DNA results without a court order.

Lohan is contesting former mistress Kristi Kaufmann's claims and is awaiting the results of a DNA test, which will determine whether or not he really is her daughter Ashley's father.

But Lohan has been told he cannot proceed with the case until it has been approved by a judge.

He tells E! News: "I got a letter saying I need something from the court before they'll process anything. And I didn't get that before. So, now I have to go back to my attorney.

"But I'll do whatever it takes to find out. Everyone will know the truth soon."

Lindsay Lohan's father Michael signed 'Love Daddy' at the end of letters he sent to teenager Ashley Kaufmann from jail - because her mother had him believing the girl was his lovechild.

Lohan is now contesting former mistress Kristi Kaufmann's claims and is awaiting the results of a DNA test, which will determine whether or not he really is the 13-year-old's father.

Meanwhile, Kaufmann and her teary daughter have appeared on U.S. news show The Insider, slamming Lohan for breaking promises and showing off the paternal letters he sent to Ashley while he was serving time behind bars for a DUI and other charges in 2005.

And Lohan admits the letters are from him.

He says, "She actually had me believing I was her daddy and I actually put that in the letters. I said, 'Call me daddy.'

"But after what I've read and what I've heard and what I've found out, there's a chance I'm not."

Actress Mischa Barton is still coming to terms with her drink driving arrest last year - because the incident put her on a list she never wanted to be a part of.

The actress pleaded guilty to a DUI in April and was sentenced to three years probation.

And Barton, 22, is still beating herself up over her stupidity, admitting no one was more disappointed with her poor judgment than she was - and she accepts she's now considered no better than drink driving party girls like Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton.

Barton tells the August issue of Nylon magazine, "That was a low point for me. I never, ever would have thought I would be arrested. I was disappointed because it associated me with a group of girls that I would rather not be associated with."

Lindsay Lohan is making good progress in satisfying her probation requirements after pleading guilty to drink driving last year, according to her lawyer.

The Mean Girls star was arrested twice in 2007 on drink driving charges and was sentenced to one day in prison, a community service order and an 18-month alcohol education programme.

The actress also had to complete a three-day county coroner scheme in which she had to talk to victims of drink drivers and visit a morgue.

And as Lohan is still on probation she is required to give regular progress reports in court.

The star was not present at court in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday but her attorney, Blair Berk, told the judge that the actress is "completely on track with everything."

Lohan's next progress hearing has been set for January 2009.

TV talent show judge Piers Morgan has embarked on a mission to wipe out celebrities who complain about fame - and he's starting with Lindsay Lohan and fellow Brit Hugh Grant.

The newspaper editor-turned-America's Got Talent judge is sick of listening to overpaid and privileged stars whining about press intrusion, singling out Lohan and Grant for particular criticism.

Lindsay Lohan's alleged half-sister wants to meet her famous siblings, but is snubbing the man who could be her father.

Thirteen-year-old Ashley Kaufmann's mother Kristi claims the teenager was conceived during an affair she had with Michael Lohan in 1995 - while he was separated from ex-wife, Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina.

Michael Lohan has undergone tests to discover if he is the girl's father, but Ashley insists she wants nothing to do with him.
