I got my nose in around about 4th grade. Before then, I had more of a little button nose. Adorable. But from the time I was 10, the pointy chin I had pretty much since I could crawl was joined by what I think of as a prominent, somewhat regal, nose in the style of what is called a “Roman” nose. (I even saw what looked an awful lot like my exact nose on an ancient statue the first time I went to Rome as a teenager!)
I was an outgoing child who had trouble not talking to other kids during class or flirting with boys. I loved making other kids laugh with jokes and impressions. I didn’t think of myself as unattractive, but I also knew that most boys who I liked didn’t like loud, quirky girls like me who had calluses on their hands from too much time on the monkey bars.

In the previous episode of The Arrow in the Head Show, hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek were joined by Chris Margetis of The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre to discuss one of my all-time favorite films, the 1986 classic Trick or Treat. In the new episode, The Arrow and Lance are revisiting another ’80s classic, one of my favorite vampire movies, Near Dark (watch it Here)! To find out what they had to say about Near Dark, check out the video embedded above.
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow from a screenplay she wrote with Eric Red, Near Dark has the following synopsis:
Cowboy Caleb Colton meets gorgeous Mae at a bar, and the two have an immediate attraction. But when Mae turns out to be a vampire and bites Caleb on the neck, their relationship gets complicated. Wracked with a craving for human blood, Caleb is forced to leave...

Mayim Bialik shared a behind the scenes look of the iconic 1988 film Beaches — and revealed her mother had to light her “herbal” cigarettes.
The Big Bang Theory star, 41, shared the #tbt photo on Thursday of herself and costar Marcie Leeds while at Coney Island.
“Beaches #Tbt! Ready for another take under the boardwalk, the cigarettes were herbal and my mom had to light them for me lol,” Bialik wrote. “We filmed at Coney Island but made it look like Atlantic City!”
The two reunited in 2016 after nearly 20 years apart to recreate their iconic opening scene. Bialik and Leeds played the...

It’s been almost 30 years since Mayim Bialik played the younger version of Bette Midler’s C.C. Bloom in “Beaches”. Now, Bialik is re-creating the opening scenes of the tearjerker with former co-star Marcie Leeds, who played the 11-year-old version of Barbara Hershey’s Hillary Essex. Reunited for the first time since filming “Beaches”, Bialik and Leeds […]...

After nearly 20 years apart, Mayim Bialik has reunited with her childhood costar from Beaches - and it turns out the two still have a lot in common. Bialik and Marcie Leeds played the 11-year-old versions of Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey's characters, respectively, in the 1988 classic. Reuniting for the first time since the film, the now grownup ladies decided to reenact their iconic opening scene. Shortly after Beaches, Leeds decided to leave show business and is now a practicing surgeon (with a very interesting former patient). And while Bialik continued her acting career - appearing in numerous movies and...

When in discussion regarding the best vampire film of the 1980’s, it’s likely a slew of quality features will be mentioned. There’s a good reason for that: the 80’s saw the inception of quite a few impressive vampire pictures. Common titles to arise in this form of debate include To Die For, Fright Night, The Hunger, Lifeforce, Vampire’S Kiss and many, many others. In the end however, it always seems to come down to two seemingly clear-cut front-runners: The Lost Boys, and Near Dark. Attractive casts, and unique scenery clearly help to separate these two films from the majority of the pack, but the fanatic within me pushed me to really studythese two films, because after all: I too want to know what the best vampire film of the 1980’s truly was.
