Ma Dong-Seok, aka Don Lee, the actor who played the emotionally powerful character Sang-Hwa in Korea’s first zombie thriller ‘Train to Busan‘, is reportedly getting many offers from reputed Hollywood studios and directors.
Daydream Entertainment, Ma Dong-Seok’s agency, stated that it would require a bit of thinking on their part to pick and choose the right role for him.
‘Train to Busan’, which was released in July this year, has brokenseveral box office records in Korea. The movie has also received international acclaim, and Dong-Seok’s role has been appreciated by many. And since he spent a considerable part of his life in the Us, his English is also quite fluent. Thus, it was just a matter of time before Hollywood recognised this sensational actor’s versatile talents. It seems that his career is just about to take off!

CBS Radio Workshop Volume 4 The CBS Radio Workshop debuted at the end of the Age of Classic Radio, which was a time of innovation and experimentation, especially in terms of radio drama. The ten-hour Volume 4 includes “All Is Bright”, a history of the famous Christmas song; “1489 Words”, which featured the debut of later film composer Jerry Goldsmith’s “The Thunder of Imperial Names”, which was written for a concert band and was based on a text piece by Thomas Wolfe; a two-part adaptation of Frederick Pohl and Cyril M. Cornbluth’s The Space Merchants, which offers a satirical look at rampant consumerism from the viewpoint of an advertising executive; Archibald MacLeish’s “Air Raid”, the series’ only re-broadcast, which had first been written for the 1938 Columbia Workshop. Aired during the Cold War era, it took on a sinister new meaning; Henry Fritch’s “The Endless Road”, about a road...

One company that has been impressing me of late is Well Go USA. They’ve been delivering the goods when it comes to Asian cinema, with Ip Man 2 and The Man From Nowhere being fine examples.
Next on their agenda is The Stool Pigeon (aka Sin Yan) which will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack and DVD on September 27th. I’ve dug you all out a trailer and some artwork to check out, although when we get the new trailer and poster I will be sure to post them. I have to say though that this looks to be good brutal entertainment from what I have seen so far.
Plano, Texas. (August 1, 2011) – Director Dante Lam reunites Nicholas Tse (Shaolin, Bodyguards and Assassins) and Nick Cheung (Triad Election, Exiled) from the 2008 hit Beast Stalker in the action thriller The Stool Pigeon, debuting on Blu-ray™ + DVD Combo Pack and DVD September 27 from Well Go USA.

[The Asian Film Festival Festival of Dallas moves into its second day with Dante Lam's The Stool Pigeon. Here we revisit James Marsh's early review of Lam's latest work. The Stool Pigeon screens at 9Pm at Landmark's Magnolia Theater]Dante Lam returns to the mean streets of Kowloon once more for a gritty police thriller centred on a particularly troubled cop and his relationship with his latest informant. Det. Don Lee (Nick Cheung) is struggling with one hell of a guilty conscience. His last stool pigeon (Liu Kai Chi) barely escaped with his life after his cover was blown during a raid Lee called in. His informant was severely sliced and diced by a decidedly bloodthirsty gang of drug dealers and now lives on the streets,...

CBS News correspondent Lara Logan and her two-person crew have all been released from detention in Egypt. The CBS crew was taken into custody Thursday amid a roundup of journalists--some of whom were beaten and threatened with death. Logan, who serves as CBS News' chief foreign affairs correspondent, was covering the uprising in Cairo with CBS crewmembers Don Lee and Max McClellan when they were confronted and arrested.

Protesters treated President Hosni Mubarak's latest concession of reform as not enough and demonstrations continued for his resignation. Plus, our complete coverage.
Protesters treated Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's latest concession as a good sign, though maybe not in the way Mubarak hoped. State TV announced Saturday the resignation of the top leadership body of Egypt's ruling party, including Mubarak's son, Gamal, in yet another attempt to show the regime is serious about reform. They'll be replaced by younger political figures, including one party member who'd been sidelined for his criticism of administration policies. But protesters in Tahrir Square said anything short of Mubarak's resignation is not enough. One activist said it would only "reinforce their resolve and increase their confidence because it shows that they are winning, and the regime is retreating inch by inch."

You’d think being an informant for the police would be a fantastic career choice. Constantly playing both sides of the law, living the glamorous snitchy lifestyle in seedy locales, always wondering if your criminal friends are going to discover what you’re up to and silence your squealing ways… but you’d be wrong. And clearly not someone who’s ever watched a movie involving a police informant. (Starsky & Hutch‘s Huggy Bear notwithstanding.) Detective Don Lee (Nick Cheung) is working a case with the help of an informant whose safety he’s guaranteed, but when the sting goes bad the snitch is attacked and left clinging to life. Time moves on and new cases roll in, and soon Lee is looking for a new inside man. He finds that man in Ghost (Nicholas Tse), a recently paroled street racer desperate to free his sister from her life of forced prostitution. Ghost...

With the Hong Kong theatrical release of Dante Lam's Stool Pigeon - in which the director reunites with his Beast Stalker cast - arriving next week it comes as no surprise that a second theatrical trailer for the picture has just arrived on the scene. It also comes as no surprise that it looks very good, indeed.
Senior Inspector Don Lee relies heavily on the information provided by stool pigeons in his job.
Barbarian is a painstakingly meticulous armed robber. Don needs an informant to infiltrate his gang. He recruits street-racer Guy. Guy provides information on Barbarian's next job, but Don is unable to effectively act on them until the final moment. Since Barbarian has not left any evidence, Don is pressured to convince Guy to become a witness for the prosecution.

When it comes to Hong Kong action cinema, nobody does it better than Dante Lam these days. Currently riding a ridiculous hot streak that has taken him from Beast Stalker to Fire of Conscience, Lam will soon be hitting Hong Kong screens again with Stool Pigeon - a film that reunites his Beast Stalker cast - and it would appear that the streak is, if anything, only heating up.

Looks like Dante Lam doesn’t need much sleep in the last few months. Even before the theatrical opening of his latest Fire of Conscience, he already gives us a first look on his next film. In The Stool Pigeon the director unites with the cast from The Beast Stalker including Nicholas Tse and Nick Cheung.

Gotta hand it to Dante Lam. The man knows a good thing when he sees it and the man works fast.
Though I believe his Fire of Conscience is still awaiting its premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival - James? Can you confirm? - the first trailer for Lam's next picture is already upon us.
Titled The Stool Pigeon, this one reunites Lam with his Beast Stalker cast though it inverts their roles with Nick Cheung now the cop and Nicholas Tse the criminal. Details are still sketchy but here's the limited synopsis they have released:
Policeman Don Lee often works with informants but numerous too-close calls and failed missions cause him to see the world as one betrayal after another - then he meets Guy, and is given a new chance to change his views.
Lam is on a serious hot streak right now - he has...
