Ex-vaudevillian, who became a noted costumer on Broadway in 1921, working on top shows like the "Ziegfeld Follies", "[xxxxxxx]'s Scandals", "[xxxxx]'s Vanities", and others. Under contract to 20th Century-Fox (1943-49), as supervising costume designer and head of the wardrobe department. Assembled a very strong team of designers, but continued to work himself, designing for his favorite stars. Left Fox in 1949 to open his own salon. Retired in 1962.
