Netflix has canceled “Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love” and “The Big Show Show,” starring WWE Superstar The Big Show, and after one season apiece, TheWrap has learned.
The streaming service will release one more episode of both multi-cam sitcoms this December, as standalone Christmas specials for “Ashley Garcia” and “Big Show Show” had already been filmed ahead of the pandemic, an individual with knowledge of the situation tells TheWrap. These episodes do not continue storylines from the previous seasons.
All existing episodes of “The Big Show Show” and “Ashley Garcia: Genius In Love” will continue to be available for streaming on Netflix.

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to order second seasons of multi-camera family sitcoms Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love and The Big Show Show.
Fans will get one more original episode of each shows as the streamer had commissioned special Christmas episodes of both comedies to be released this December.
These are not series finales. The special stand-alone Christmas episodes were filmed before the pandemic and do not continue the storylines from the previous seasons.
The produced episodes of Ashley Garcia and The Big Show Show will continue to be available on Netflix. Multi-camera comedy is probably the genre most dependable on cast chemistry. That is something that can be tested in a pilot, something that does not fit into Netflix’s model, which is built on straight-to-series orders.

“Access Hollywood” host Mario Lopez walked back comments he made regarding parents of transgender children, where he said it’s “dangerous as a parent” to allow young children to choose their own gender.
“The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were,” Lopez said in a statement. “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the Lgbtq community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”
On Wednesday, a month-old appearance Lopez made on Candace Owens’ PragerU show surfaced on the internet. During the 40-minute interview on “The Candace Owens Show” on June 23, which you can view above, the right-wing host brought up the “weird” Hollywood trend of stars like Charlize Theron saying their children are “picking their gender.”

Tony Hand is the most bizarre concept for a web series I’ve seen yet: A severed hand that is a motivational speaker with a sordid past is being investigated by a slightly narcissistic documentary filmmaker named Newton Lowe who seems to be a cross between Geraldo Rivera and Nick Broomfield. Created by Seth Kurland, a writer-producer for such sitcoms as 8 Simple Rules and Friends, and showing on Strike.TV, this series is…not that great. Per his production notes, Kurland is new to the medium and recently learned how to use green screen, which is probably the most impressive thing about the show as the disembodied hand in its orange wool glove, dances, balances and pontificates to his audience from atop a stool on a stage. Other fine uses put Newton in Saudi Arabia, Riverside Park in New York and elsewhere.

Comedian Scott Henry has inked a talent holding deal with UPN to star in an untitled sitcom from writer-producer Scott Tomlinson. The show, about an electrician (Henry) who is unhappy with his prospects and decides to go back to college to get his degree, will be based on Henry's stand-up act about the clashes between his hip contemporary outlook on life and the very traditional views of his Midwestern family. While the focus is on the project with Tomlinson, if it doesn't go forward, UPN would cast Henry in another pilot targeted for fall 2004. In the past two years, Henry had talent deals with Touchstone TV and ABC, most recently working with writer-producer Seth Kurland and the Greenblatt Janollari Studio. Montreal Comedy Festival alumnus Henry, who was a featured performer on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, is repped by ICM and 3 Arts Entertainment. Tomlinson's credits include Fox's Cedric the Entertainer Presents and MTV's The Andy Dick Show. He is repped by ICM.
