As we recently revealed in an in-depth feature, the collapse of Nineties rock band Live was a very complex situation, and nobody can agree on the exact cause. What’s indisputable is that lead singer Ed Kowalczyk now tours with an entirely new version of Live. Original guitarist Chad Taylor and drummer Chad Gracey were best friends from childhood, but now they don’t even speak. Bassist Patrick Dahlheimer is caught in the middle.
“I don’t ever want to play with Chad Taylor again,” Gracey told Rolling Stone. “The...

On March 4, 2020, guitarist Chad Taylor stood on a beach outside of the Hard Rock Hotel in the Dominican Republic. He fired up a Cuban cigar and stared out at the vast ocean. After years of bitter infighting and nasty legal battles, his band Live — best remembered for their Nineties hits “Lightning Crashes” and “I Alone” — was finally reunited and back on the road. Live had just wrapped up a successful co-headlining tour with Bush, there was talk of cutting a new album, and they were in the Caribbean to play a lucrative private gig.

Live is back, with the 1990s hitmakers reuniting the band’s original lineup for a surprise New Year’s Eve show. Despite being estranged since 2009, the band’s founding members — Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Gracey and front man Ed Kowalczyk — reunited for a surprise concert on New Year’s Eve in their hometown of York, Pennsylvania, where […]...

Awful news, everyone. The long-awaited Mark McGrath & Friends Cruise has been cancelled. Pack up your bikinis and un-autographed copies of 14:59, no one’s going on vacation this year.
Billboard writes that McGrath was turned off by “recent events” relating to boats, aka the “Poop Cruise” which caused hundreds of passengers to be stranded on a Carnival without running water…thus, toilets. It’s all a damn shame, considering what was promised aboard the S.S. Fly:
How will we able to initiate a threesome with Steve Harwell and Ed Kowalczyk (formerly of Live) now?
Don’t worry, there’s always the Matchbox Twenty cruise:
I didn’t Photoshop that.

“It’s about Bob.”
It’s Bob’s birthday and it’s time for a party. Bob Benjamin was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at age 38. He had been an athletic guy who was in the music business for a long time. Refusing to give up when diagnosed, he started the Light of Day foundation which, on his birthday, puts on a rock show to raise money for Parkinson’s research.
Just Around the Corner (2011) features artists like Ed Kowalczyk (from Live), Bruce Springsteen, and John Rzeznik (from Goo Goo Dolls) from Light of Day (Lod) concerts past who occasionally take a seat across from the camera and share stories about Bob and the idea of the Lod foundation as well as Bob's family, friends, and doctors who give their own perspectives on Bob and his condition.

A happy birthday high five to Ed Kowalczyk today. The Live frontman and solo artist is now 39 years old. Ever since Live first scored a bit of attention with their 1991 album Mental Jewelry (and especially since they became mainstream superstars with 1994's Throwing Copper), Kowalczyk has inhabited an unusual place as one of the alt-rock generation's least likely frontmen. Identified by his signature shaved head and spastic on-stage dance moves (he's a lot like Michael Stipe in both those cases), Kowalczyk took his band from the garages of York, Pennsylvania to the top of the rock world.
Nobody quite knew what to do with Live when they first hit the rock scene (nor did anybody know how to properly pronounce their name — was the vowel long or short?). They were steeped in religious imagery and played a gritty but pop-savvy brand of indie rock that borrowed equally from '80s alternative (namely R.

HollywoodNews.com: After The Calling disbanded in 2005, the release of singer Alex Band’s solo album “We’ve All Been There” has been a long time coming. With his record actually completed in 2007, a restructuring of his label left the release in limbo. Since then, Alex has spent the last few years regaining control of the master recordings and establishing his own label, Amb Records, partnering with Emi for distribution.
“I’ve finally got creative control, which is the main reason I went through all of this,” he says. “So now I’m starting completely over as a solo artist and reintroducing myself to the world.” Today, he is proud to release his solo debut “We’ve All Been There,” featuring the hit single “Tonight.”
Alex says of his album – which charts the course of a relationship from start to finish – “It’s definitely about my own struggle, but I...

The Internet is abuzz with a 90 second piece of video. No, it isn't the drunk guy trying to get at his flip-flop at Coachella. Rather, it's the new trailer for "Eclipse," the third film in the much-beloved "Twilight" series. The trailer premiered today both on the broadcast of "Oprah" and on the talk show host's Web site. The film once again stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as a human, a vampire and a werewolf in the middle of a high school love triangle. This time around, they are beset by an oncoming vampire army and must band together to fight them off.
It's by far the most action-packed trailer in the history of the "Twilight" franchise, culminating in a great tease of the showdown between the vampire army and the werewolf/Cullen family tag team. It's intense and action-packed, and "Twilight" fans are on high alert for...

Since the death of singer Michael Hutchence in 1997, Australian hit-makers Inxs have been looking for a way to continue without the face and the voice of smashes like "Need You Tonight," "New Sensation," "Devil Inside" and "Suicide Blonde." Back in 2005, they were the subject of the first season of "Rock Star," a CBS reality show that sought to cast an amateur as their new vocalist (they released one album, 2005's Switch, with show winner J.D. Fortune).
Now they've got a new project in mind. The band is currently working on a new album that will re-imagine some of their biggest hits with new singers, including the Killers' Brandon Flowers, Pat Monahan of Train, Ben Harper and Rob Thomas. A band who replaces a lead singer — especially with one by committee — always puts itself on a slippery slope. Hopefully it turns out better than the disastrous No Talking Just Head, which...

On New Year's Day, Soundgarden put aside a decade-plus of acrimony (and Audioslave) and announced that they were re-uniting, for … well, they didn't exactly say why they were doing it, but we'll assume it had something to do with the promise of plum festival headlining slots, sold-out arena shows and, of course, boatloads of cash. Because, really, we can't see any other reason why they'd get back together.
Make no mistake about it: Though Soundgarden's 1997 split lacked the fireworks with which most mega-successful, multi-platinum rock acts tend to implode, it was by no means a friendly thing. Worn out by years on the road and weakened by the internal struggle between frontman Chris Cornell and guitarist Kim Thayil, Soundgarden played their final gig on February 9 in Honolulu, Hawaii, walked off stage and simply disbanded. Since then, nearly every member has said repeatedly that a reunion would never happen, and the...

Ah, forget Matt Damon. Sarah Silverman's still (bleeping) Jimmy Kimmel. "I'll be honest, we have it good," Silverman tells People of her five-year relationship with the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! But don't expect the couple to hit the altar anytime soon. "I don't want the government involved in our love," says Silverman, 37, who's headlining a show benefiting Project A.L.S. in Manhattan next Friday, May 9. "When my friends get married I think it's romantic, I cry, whatever," she says. "But it's not for me." When Silverman and Kimmel aren't making provocatively hilarious Internet-sensation videos – hers about f------ Damon,...
