The big news tonight on The Mentalist episode "Red Bulls" is that Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Agent Sam Bosco (Terry Kinney) work together on a case. The episode begins with a tense scene involving Bosco's team, busting into an abandoned house they believe houses a kidnap victim and her captors. Guns drawn, they rush into a crowded room–populated by Agent Teresa Lisbon's (Robin Tunney) Cbi team, including Jane. After a tense moment of adrenaline and demanding to know what the other is doing there, Jane finally gets them all to lower their guns.
Turns out Lisbon and her team were asked to investigate a report of a dead body in the abandoned house. The body turns out to be a young man who had been kidnapped years earlier. Cbi boss Minelli (Gregory Itzin) agrees with Jane that the coincidences are too great between the two kidnap cases, and »

Tonight on The Mentalist, "Black Gold and Red Blood", Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) once again defies people's expectations. After Agent Bosco (Terry Kinney) discovers the bug that Jane planted in his office, he has Jane arrested. As usual, Jane isn't remorseful in the least bit and doesn't seem to be all that fearful about jail time. Turning down Bosco's deal to quit the Cbi, Jane heads off to the penitentiary. Not considering himself a cop, Jane refuses protective custody and gets put in with the general population.
Once we get a look at Jane's murderer roommate, if we weren't already thinking it, we get the idea Jane may have made a serious error. After all, Jane is very pretty and not at all violent, which is not the best combination in prison. Though Jane makes friends with his cellmate with a little psychotherapy, he realizes he may have been a »

Next week on "The Mentalist", the Cbi team investigates the death of a wealthy man whom witnesses say was killed by a ghost haunting his mansion. "Red Scare" is slated to air on Thursday, October 29 with Terry Kinney and Gregory Itzin recurring as Sam Bosco and Virgil Minelli respectively.
Several suspects are quickly drawn to determine who or what killed Alan Foster. There is the old mansion's previous owner, Victoria Abner, who believes in anything spiritual. She is the granddaughter of the original owner of Greystone Mansion who was unable to pay her taxes on property and was forced to sell the mansion. Victoria got bitter from it, believing that she was robbed off a family legacy.
Then there's Victoria's adolescent son Drew who is also not pleased with the family legacy snatched away from him. The Cbi also questions a local resident by the name of Jeb Haas who »

My name is Alynda and I am an organ donor. There, now everybody knows and we don't have to go through any confusion or sticky sitches in the hospital, Three Rivers-style. What did you think of the Rivers debut, the few of you who watched it? (If you missed it, by the way, you can catch it here.) I'm still trying to decide if I'm giving it too much leeway because star Alex O'Loughlin is in my imaginary-boyfriend stable (and we're pretty serious, with his having met my mom and all). But I'll try to be objective. Let's start »

The season premiere episode of The Mentalist, "Redemption", begins with our favorite master of observation Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) up to his old tricks. The Cbi are called in to help out the homicide department on a department store murder. Detective Lisbon (Robin Tunney) warns Jane to take his theatrical antics down a notch (or three), but Jane's never been one to listen to authority.
Jane gathers together the witnesses (suspects), and in Agatha Christie style, narrows them down with random questions and observations of their behavior. Using a trick he pulled on Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) last season, he uses the guilty party's reactions to his movements to discover the murder weapon and the killer. All in a day's work.
Back at the office, Jane and Lisbon get called on the carpet for Jane's unorthodox and unprofessional crime solving methods. Minelli (Gregory Itzin) tells them they're too focused on »

Everyone on earth blacks out for two minutes and seventeen seconds and sees a glimpse of their future, but they must decide if they will accept their destiny or do anything they can to change it.
I was able to watch the entire pilot and I wasn’t exactly impressed with what I saw. Will I watch it? Yeah, but that doesn’t always mean I’ll like it. It does have a Lost vibe to it in that you’re intrigued about what’s going on, but you also know it’s going to take many »

Meanwhile, Miracle Laurie--who played November/Mellie in Season One of Dollhouse Will be returning for the sophomore season... in some form, anyway. "All I know for sure is that I'm coming back next season," Laurie told the Baltimore Sun. "I don't actually know in what form I'll be back. The writers are kind of teasing me…everybody knows but me." (Baltimore Sun, Twitter) io9 speaks to Syfy vice president of original programming Mark Stern about the channel's rebrand and its promise to find the next big space opera along the lines of Battlestar Galatica or Firefly. "The next thing that I really want to do is find the next great space opera; it's been a long time," said Stern. "And we have Stargate, but that's really not that show. »

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter Terry Kinney has been cast in a recurring role on CBS' The Mentalist.
The actor is set to be in seven episodes of the Warner Bros. TV-produced series' second season. He will play Agent Sam Bosco, a normal looking police officer with a hidden amount of shrewdness.
Bosco will run the California Bureau of Investigation's Serial Crimes Unit. He is brought in to help solve the case of the Red John serial killer. His victims include the wife and daughter of Cbi's Patrick Jane (Simon Baker). Bosco's by-the-book approach is something Jane finds hard to work with.
Further complicating things is the fact that Bosco was Teresa Lisbon's (Robin Tunney) boss at one point. Apparently, something from the past hangs over their current relationship.

ABC won't be making its official announcement until tomorrow but the axe has already fallen for midseason's The Unusuals.
The dramady revolves around a dysfunctional but effective group of New York City cops. The series features the talents of Amber Tamblyn, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Joshua Close, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Kai Lennox, Terry Kinney, Adam Goldberg, Ryan O'Nan, Ian Kahn, Kat Foster, Heather Burns, Robert Funaro, and George Aloi.
The ABC show debuted on April 8th to a disappointing 6.83 million viewers and a 2.1/6 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The following week, the numbers fell to 6.01 million and a 1.8/5. The network tried a different timeslot but the numbers were worse and subsequently fell to a terrible 4.74 million and a 1.4/4.
Though ABC really wanted to find a new cop drama, it became pretty clear that this one wasn't going to be it. The network has opted to cancel The Unusuals rather »

Cementing their reputation for scooping up beloved cancelled series, DirecTV has announced that they're going to be airing two more; Deadwood and Oz.
Deadwood is centered around an outlaw camp in the Old West. The HBO series was nominated for 22 Emmy Awards and won seven in its all too-brief 36 episode, three season run. The drama showcases the talents of thespians like Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Brad Dourif, W. Earl Brown, John Hawkes, Paula Malcomson, Dayton Callie, Leon Rippy, William Sanderson, Robin Weigert, Sean Bridgers, and Bree Seanna Wall. HBO committed to produce a pair of movies to wrap up the series but they never materialized.
Oz gives viewers a look into the harsh and often horrific world of the Oswald State Correctional Facility. The series ran for six seasons and 56 episodes on HBO. The large cast includes Kirk Acevedo, Ernie Hudson, Terry Kinney, Rita Moreno, Harold Perrineau, J.K. Simmons, »

Last night, ABC's The Unusuals debuted in the post-Lost timeslot. The network's had high hopes for the quirky crime drama but many critics have deemed it to be "usual" fare at best. What do viewers think?
The Unusuals revolves around a unique group NYPD detectives that all have secrets. They also have twisted senses of humor, which is helpful since every day could be their last. The series stars several TV show veterans like Amber Tamblyn (Joan Of Arcadia), Adam Goldberg (Head Cases), Harold Perrineau (Oz), and Terry Kinney (Thirtysomething), as well as Jeremy Renner, Kai Lennox, Josh Close, and Monique Gabriela Curnen.
Last night, the Unusuals premiere attracted 6.84 million viewers and a 2.2/ 6 rating/share in the 18-49 demographic. That's better than last week's Mars finale in overall viewers (5.86 million) but it's essentially the same rating/share in the demo. These aren't the numbers that ABC was hoping for. »

Television Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – After the failure of the underrated “Life on Mars,” ABC brings another bizarre cop show to the same timeslot called “The Unusuals”. Like the program it’s replacing, this is an intriguing premiere, a show with serious potential that just needs a bit of tinkering behind-the-scenes to become appointment television.
ABC has thrown several new shows up against the wall to see what sticks, including “Castle,” “Better Off Ted,” “In the Motherhood,” “Cupid,” “Surviving Suburbia,” and, now, “The Unusuals”. With “Castle” treading water and still needing improvement and the other new entries disappointing, “The Unusuals” is the clear frontrunner of the bunch.

Like a modern-day “M*A*S*H,” “The Unusuals” explores both the grounded drama and comic insanity of the world of New York City police detectives, where every cop has a secret. It also helps to have a twisted sense of humor, since every day could be your last.
Detective Casey Shraeger (Amber Tamblyn) has just been transferred to the NYPD’s Homicide unit from Vice and is instantly thrown into a setting of bullets and bodies. »
