Coachella is on hold for six months. Concert giants Live Nation and Aeg are pausing all tours. As festivals, shows, and other music events flounder due to the global coronavirus outbreak, many in the music business are scrambling for answers from tour insurance — only to find that insurers don’t want to be on the hook for payouts, either.
The Covid-19 outbreak, which the World Health Organization declared a pandemic on Wednesday, is not being covered by most major music insurance companies, according to agencies, attorneys, and artist business managers contacted by Rolling Stone.

Playing in limited release right now is the rather excellent documentary, "The Trials Of Muhammad Ali" (our review), which gives a fascinating, in depth look at the legal battles the fighter faced, including his highly publicized decision to claim conscientious objector status when drafted for the Vietnam War. It was a position that seriously threatened his livelihood, and made him an easy target from all sides; the true story itself is hugely dramatic and compelling. But if you'd rather see a movie with actors telling the tale, well, there's "Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight." The Stephen Frears film follows Ali’s trial following his arrest for anti-Vietnam sentiments, and the battle that ensued of his legal right (or not) to claim that he was a Co. At the time, one could decline from the war citing religious reasons — as Ali did — but there were many thorny ways to interpret that broad definition.

Those of us who watch The CW's "The Vampire Diaries" know that week in and week out its co-showrunners Kevin Williams and Julie Plec bust their asses to make sure the quality stays high. Obviously parent company Warner Bros. TV recognizes that fact also as it has signed a three-year deal with Williamson to not only continue in that capacity but also develop new projects for the studio.
As Deadline explains it, this marks Williamson's first TV overall deal in a decade. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he was under a deal at Miramax TV, an extension to the pact he had on the feature side with Miramax Films following the success of his first produced script, Scream, for Miramax' Dimension label. Wme-repped Williamson, who started off as an actor before switching to writing, has written the first two Scream movies as well as the upcoming Scream 4.
