- Kamilyn is a direct descendant of samurai (great-great-grandfather) as her paternal ancestral family descends from the aristocratic (Omi) Mononobe clan in the Nambu domain. He was among the last from the noble samurai class permitted to wear a sword until it was prohibited in 1876.
- Is a great-great grandniece of George Kaneko who studied theology and taught at Franklin and Marshall College ( Pennsylvania) in the late 1880's and is laid to rest at Lancaster Cemetery. His father was a samurai.
