The glut of shows being pulled from streaming services continues.
Starz has pulled a trio of titles – Dangerous Liaisons, Becoming Elizabeth and Step Up from its streaming service. All three titles have been canceled but it’s another example of a company taking finished shows off their own service.
It comes after HBO Max pulled series such as Westworld, The Nevers, Raised By Wolves, The Time Traveler’s Wife as well as a slew of reality shows including FBoy Island and a raft of animated titles from its service last year.
Over the weekend, HBO Max also pulled a number of episodes of the original Looney Tunes, including seasons 16 to 31, as well as three seasons of The Flintstones. These shows were removed after their licenses expired.
The strategy at Warner Bros. Discovery was in part formed by tax write offs that it could gain after the merger, as well as interest...

Starz has canceled the “Step Up’ series after just one season on the network, Variety has confirmed.
Produced by Lionsgate TV, the first two seasons of the show were released on YouTube. Starz revived the show in 2020 after it was left in limbo when YouTube took a step back from producing original scripted content. At the time, news of the move seemed a sensible transition considering that Lionsgate is Starz’ parent company.
According to the series description, the musical drama followed the students and faculty of High Water, “an incubator for new artistic talent where founder Sage Odom (Ne-yo) and his partner Collette Jones (Christina Milian) struggle to maintain their empire.”
In Season 3, viewers witnessed Sage, Colette and their relationship challenged as they faced criminal charges, financial ruin, and powerful political enemies who wanted to destroy Sage and High Water. The Season 3 finale, which will now serve as the series finale,...

Step Up will not be returning for a fourth season on Starz.
Per Deadline, the series has been canceled after three seasons.
The news comes just ahead of its season finale, which is set to premiere next week.
Given how late in the game the cancellation came, there's a good chance there will be plenty of loose ends.
The series first started its life on YouTube, airing as a YouTube premium original for two seasons.
Inspired by the Step Up Lionsgate film franchise that grossed over 600 million at the worldwide box office, the series centers on Sage Odom (Ne-Yo) as the legendary founder of Atlanta’s famed High Water Performing Art School.
"Welcome to High Water – a next level incubator for new artistic talent, where danger, corruption, suspicions, desires, resentments, and ambitions collide in and out of the halls," the logline for Season 3 reads.

It took a while, some creative changes, and a home change, but we're back!
Step Up: High Water Season 3 Episode 1 picks up a little after Sage Odom's bus is intercepted by the police, and he is taken into custody.
This effectively halts his anticipated tour, throwing everyone into chaos. Some changes happened when the series was on hiatus. There were some changes creatively and with the cast.
We will explore these changes, including new characters, the new Tal and Collette, the new opening theme, and the story.
The previous opening theme song was a bop. It sets the mood and the tone for the entire episode. The new theme is ... not bad. It takes a while to get into it, but when one hears it three-four times, it gets stuck in their head. I wish they recorded an extended version.
There were also some changes in the cast. British actor...

The franchise’s third season (which premieres Sunday, Oct. 16 at 10/9c on Starz) will continue unraveling the betrayals, romances and rivalries of High Water, the cutthroat and highly sought-after performing arts school that serves as an incubator for new talent. “As the label’s roster grows, High Water founder and megastar Sage Odom (Ne-Yo) faces murder charges, financial ruin and powerful political enemies,” reads the official description. “His partner in business and in love, Collette Jones...

Naya Rivera’s passing comes between Seasons 2 and 3 of the “Step Up” TV series, on which she starred, leaving many devastated fans wondering what will become of the show’s lead female character.
The production schedule for Season 3 “had not yet been determined prior to Covid,” a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap. Production for pretty much everything in Hollywood ceased when the coronavirus pandemic came stateside in March.
Rivera played Collette Jones on the television adaptation created by Holly Sorenson. Sorenson has been writing Season 3, the person told us, though we do not currently know how many episodes had completed scripts.
Representatives for Sorenson, Starz and Lionsgate did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for an update on preproduction.

The search for missing actress Naya Rivera continues, with no sign of the “Glee” star after she disappeared on Lake Piru almost 48 hours ago.
Captain Eric Buschow from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office held a media briefing on Friday, telling reporters that the search began at 6 a.m. on Friday and that investigators used sonar equipment to scan the bottom of the lake for anything that looks like a body. While they have found some promising objects, Rivera’s body has yet to be found.
Visibility remains very low in the reservoir lake and the bottom is filled with trees and weeds that could cause entanglements to the divers. The teams are continuing to search the north and eastern parts of the two-mile-long lake, which is, at its deepest, 130 feet deep. Cadaver dogs are searching the top of the water, and once they find something, a diver will check the location — however,...

Former “Glee” actress Naya Rivera, who has been missing after swimming in Lake Piru in Ventura County on Wednesday, had experience boating there, authorities said on Thursday. Investigators also said they believe Rivera “drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident.”
Rivera had rented a boat at Lake Piru, a reservoir near Santa Clarita in nearby Los Angeles county, which departed from the dock around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. She was swimming with her 4-year-old son when, for unknown reasons, she submerged and did not resurface.
In a press conference on Thursday, Kevin Donoghue, sergeant at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, said that Rivera’s 4-year-old son, who was found alone on the boat in the middle of the lake, told investigators enough information that made them “conclude that his mother never made it out of the water.”
