31 December 2009 3:40 PM, PST | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

As 2009 comes to a close, we take a look back at some of the people and events that made this the Best. Lesbian. Decade. Ever. in pop culture.

Luckily for all of us, there was far more information to have mentioned from the last ten years than we could have included in this brief survey. That's why our lists for each year are not intended to be exhaustive, but are instead snapshots of different memorable moments that included the representation of lesbians and bisexual women in film, television, music, literature, comics, sports and the Internet since the year 2000.

More Promo Photos – 24 Season 8

28 December 2009 8:05 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

About a month ago I posted promo photos for the upcoming season 8 premiere of 24 (which is set to air over two nights on January 17th and January 18th).  Fox has now released more, including shots with newcomer Freddie Prinze Jr.  I don't mind Freddie, but I rarely see him in any dramatic (sorry, I Know What You Did Last Summer doesn't count), so I'm interested to see how he fares in 24.

Series Returns with Two-Hour Premiere Event Sunday, January 17, on Fox

Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, Jennifer Westfeldt and Chris Diamantopoulos have joined the cast of 24 for the series’ eighth season. The Emmy Award-winning drama starring Kiefer Sutherland returns for its next astonishing day with a two-night, four-hour premiere beginning Sunday, Jan. 17 (9:00-11:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox.

Season Eight will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. »

24 Season 8 Promo Images

17 December 2009 9:38 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Fox released these promo images from the upcoming eighth season of their action-adventure show “24″ earlier this month, but you know that old mantra, better late than never. So, here are promo images from Season 8 of “24″, featuring Jack Bauer in the Big Apple trying to save that guy from “Slumdog Millionaire” from getting an RPG shot up his buttocks. Hey, it’s a thankless job, but someone’s gotta do it. Keifer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Elisha Cuthbert, Cherry Jones, and Annie Wersching return from Season 7. They are joined by new victims — er, I mean, castmembers — Anil Kapoor, Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Day 8 commences January 17, 2010 with a 2-hour premiere. »

Raekwon had an emotional moment last night during his Only Built for Cuban Linx 2 concert at New York's Irving Plaza. The Chef was rolling his classic tunes such as "C.R.E.A.M." (he performed both his and Inspectah Deck's verses) and "Ice Cream" (Cappadonna came out as a surprise guest) when he took time to acknowledge the presence of an extra-special VIP. The Wu-Tang Clan vet announced to the crowd that Ol' Dirty Bastard's mother, Cherry Jones, had braved the cold to come to the show.

In a heartwarming moment, Rae brought Ms. Jones onto the stage, and the pair hugged for a couple of minutes, likely reminiscing about their deceased loved one, who died in 2004 of an apparent drug overdose. Rae's DJ then played a »

Three Explosive and Kickass 24 Season 8 Promos

30 November 2009 6:39 PM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

If it’s December (or thereabouts), it must be one more month before Jack Bauer invades TV screens again. Yup, that’s right, ladies and gents, Bauer and company (and a newly resurrected CTU) returns to save the day January 2010. Check out three new promo spots for the upcoming Season 8. I gotta admit, after Season 7, I was a little down on the show, but it sure looks like transplanting the action from L.A. to New York has given the show a whole new vitality it hasn’t had in a while. Returning players include Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian, Annie Wersching as Renee Walker, and Cherry Jones as President Allison Taylor. Also back, Gregory Itzin as the scheming former Prez Charles Logan. They’re joined by Mykelti Williamson as the head of CTU New York, Katee Sackhoff as CTU agent Dana Walsh, »

New York — Ol' Dirty Bastard was a larger-than-life character. Now, the Wu-Tang Clan rapper has a eulogy that's as extravagant as he was with the documentary "Dirty: One Word Can Change the World."

The long-in-the-making project was finally released as a straight-to-dvd set Tuesday. To celebrate the project, ImageNation presented a screening at the National Black Theatre in Harlem last night. Odb's mother, Cherry Jones, and other family members attended the intimate affair.

"Dirty," directed by Odb's cousin Raison Allah, set out to answer the question: Who was Dirty? The charismatic and often-troubled rapper went by as many monikers as there were members of the Wu, from Big Baby Jesus to Osirus to Ason Unique. President Logan: Returning to 24!

If Tony Almeida can return, anything is possible...

A Fox press release has confirmed that Gregory Itzin will be reprising the role of villainous President Charles Logan on season eight of 24.

Late in the season, current commander-in-chief Alison Taylor (Cherry Jones) will reluctantly enlist her disgraced predecessor to help with a growing diplomatic crisis.

Logan played a major role in a terrorist scheme during season five of the drama. He was last seen getting stabbed by his mentally unstable ex-wife, Martha, on season six.

24 exec producer Howard Gordon told Entertainment Weekly the opportunity to watch Jones and Itzin go head-to-head “was simply too compelling to pass up.”

As for Tony, he's safely in custody, following the events of last year. At least we assume that's the case - but we'll be tuned in to the 24 season premiere on January 17 just to be sure. (And because Jack Bauer is our hero. »
