The first photo from the set of Let Me In (the U.S. redo of Let the Right One In ) was posted via the production's Twitter account. Admittedly, it's not much to look at. "Owen" and "Abbey" are the character names of stars Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Moretz, respectively. The young duo began work on Matt Reeves' film this week in New Mexico. Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas, Cara Buono and Sasha Barrese co-star. »

Three More Join ‘Let Me In’ Cast As Shooting Begins

4 November 2009 12:23 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Whether fans of the original Swedish language film Let The Right One In like it or not, the American remake, entitled Let Me In, is firmly going ahead, with filming already started a couple of days ago in New Mexico. But just as that news appeared, another piece surfaced that three more actors have joined the cast: Elias Koteas (playing a policeman), Cara Bruono (playing the main character’s mother) and Sasha Barrese (playing a character called “Virginia”). They join the previously announced Kodi-Smit McPhee, Chloe Moritz, and Richard Jenkins.

The basic synopsis for Let Me In is as follows: “In the haunting and provocative Let Me In, an alienated 12-year-old boy (Smit-McPhee) befriends a mysterious young newcomer (Moretz) in his small New Mexico town and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood.” It’s based on the original book “Lat den Ratte Komma In” by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, »

‘Let Me In’ Begins Production, New Cast Names

4 November 2009 12:10 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Production has officially begun on Matt ReevesLet Me In, an American remake of the Swedish horror hit Let the Right One In.  Principal photography started Monday, November 2 in New Mexico and will continue into January.

Kodi Smith-McPhee (The Road) is starring as Owen and Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) is Abby, the mysterious neighbor.  Richard Jenkins plays her guardian, the key adult role in the film.

They’re joined now by Elias Koteas as the policeman, Cara Buono as Owen’s mother, and Sasha Barrese as Virginia.

Reeves (Cloverfield) has assembled a decent cast, but I’m still skeptical.  The original is an excellent vampire film and one of my favorite horror movies of the decade, so I’m naturally resisting any “new” version of the story.

CEO of Hammer Films Simon Oakes said, “The brilliance of [the original] story deserves to be seen by audiences on a wide scale and we are »

'Paranormal Activity' Could Get A Sequel But 'District 9' Might Not In Today's Dailies -- 11/3/09

3 November 2009 4:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

--Paramount is actively working on plans for a "Paranormal Activity" sequel. While a sequel would clearly lose the surprise factor that's made the Oren Peli-directed horror film such a success, folks behind the film insist that they can "come up with the right creative and marketing approach." (THR)

--On the flip side, studio heads at Sony are hoping that Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp are up for a "District 9" sequel, but the producer-director pair is allegedly holding off until they "figure out what the story is and organize their respective schedules." Sony's hopes are hardly surprising as "District 9" has officially crossed the $200 million threshold, a fantastic result based on the movie's $30 million budget. (Deadline Hollywood Daily)

--Could Sandy Collora's "Hunter Prey" be the next "District 9" or "Paranormal Activity"? You can judge for yourself by checking out production images from the independently produced science fiction film, »

3 November 2009 10:40 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

In a press release, Overture Films announced the start of principal photography of Matt Reeves' Let Me In, the American adaptation of last year's acclaimed Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In. While we're not usually big on the announcements of the first day of production, this press release also revealed a new promotional poster (check it out after the jump) as well as adding Elias Koteas (Shutter Island), Cara Buono (of HBO's "The Sopranos") and Sasha Barrese (The Hangover) to a cast that already includes Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) and Chloe Moretz (500 Days of Summer). If you're unfamiliar with the Swedish film on which Let Me In is based, it may help to know that both films are based on a novel by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist. The story follows an alienated 12-year-old boy (Smit-McPhee) who befriends a mysterious young newcomer (Moretz »

'Let the Right One In' remake: Right? Or wrong?

3 November 2009 10:02 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The American remake of Let the Right One In started production this week, which I knew because I felt a great disturbance in the force. I'm still not convinced the movie needs an American remake -- especially one renamed Let Me In, which is not the same -- but Richard Jenkins' presence (as the Håkan character) gives me a sliver of hope. A tiny, tiny sliver. I was wild about the original film, but I'm skeptical that an American version will tolerate the same level of silence, particularly at the hands of Cloverfield director Matt Reeves. Part of what »

Let Me In Starts Production

3 November 2009 4:40 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Let Me In, the American remake of the Swedish vampire flick Let the Right One In, starts production today, transporting the coming-of-age tale from the cold and blustery Stockholm, Sweden to the dry and hot Albuquerque, New Mexico. Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is returning to the source material for Let the Right One In, the Swedish novel of the same name by author John Ajvide Lindqvist, to help inspire the story about a young boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Road) who befriends a mysterious new girl in town (Chloe Moretz from the upcoming Kick-Ass), who happens to be a vampire.

With Richard Jenkins already cast as Moretz's caretaker, the new cast additions announced are Elias Koteas as the policeman, Cara Buono (The Sopranos) as Smit McPhee's mother, and Sasha Barrese (The Hangover) as Virginia, the character who survives a vampire attack in the Swedish original.

Yet More Cast For Let Me In

2 November 2009 11:21 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Filming on Matt Reeves' Us remake of Let the Right One In - retitled Let Me In - is now underway and more cast details have just emerged. Joining Kodi Smit-McPhee as Owen (Oskar), Chloe Moretz as Abby (Eli) and Richard Jenkins as Abby's familiar (Hakan in the original), are Elias Koteas, Carla Buono and Sasha Barrese.Buono (who's had recurring TV roles on The Sopranos and The Dead Zone) plays Owen's mother. Barrese (Justin Bartha's wife in The Hangover) plays the latterly cat-averse Virginia, seemingly one of the few characters to keep their name from the original film. And the always reliably world-weary Koteas is "the policeman", which we're guessing is the Lacke role, Virginia's husband.Advance reaction to Let Me In has generally fallen into the "why is it necessary / leave the original alone" camp, given the quality and international success of its Swedish counterpart. It's not an unreasonable response either, »

Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, and Sasha Barrese Join Remake Let Me In; Principal Photography Begins

2 November 2009 8:21 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Principal Photography began today on Matt Reeves’ “Let Me In”, the remake of Tomas Alfredson’s acclaimed film, “Let the Right One In” which was an adaptation of the John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel of the same name.  It’s difficult to find a fan of Alfredson’s film who is excited for this remake since the Swedish landscape is such an integral part of the film’s tone and overarching themes.  Couple that with the tendency of American films to avoid ambiguity and relationships which may make audiences uncomfortable and you can see why the reception of its production is (appropriately) chilly.

But actors Elias Koteas (”Zodiac”), Cara Buono (”The Sopranos”), and Sasha Barrese (”The Hangover”) are giving the film a chance and joining stars Kodi-Smit McPhee (”The Road”), Chloe Moretz (”Kick-Ass”) and Richard Jenkins (”The Visitor”).  Hit the jump for more details.

The Week in Film: What will fly at the box office? And what won't?

23 October 2009 2:13 PM, PDT | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

Editor's note: This week we're welcoming Mike Wong on board to write our weekly movie column.

Another week, another set of movies. Hard to believe it’s already nearly November when the Oscar-bait starts being dangled, and unless you didn’t see any movies last week, I’m sorry to say it’s a good week to stay home or do something not movie related.

The first of the wide releases this week is Amelia starring the swanky Hilary Swank in a movie that almost no one was waiting for. This biopic about Amelia Earhart, the first female pilot to cross the Atlantic, seems to have flown out of the Hollywood machine with every cliché and formulaic fixture intact. Currently scoring a 22% on Rottentomatoes.com, I’ll wager that it’ll probably experience some serious turbulence in the box office.
