It's a good thing that "Sicario" is often cited as the best Denis Villeneuve movies, seeing as the director, cast, and crew apparently risked their lives to make it. Imagine putting yourself through life-threatening situations just to witness the poor reviews roll in and the almighty Tomatometer bestow an abject splat upon your film. Thankfully, "Sicario" currently stands at a muscular 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the third highest-rated of Villeneuve's films on the website, behind "Arrival" and "Dune: Part Two."
But without "Sicario," those other two blockbusters arguably wouldn't exist. This was the movie that established Villeneuve as a director capable of balancing human drama with large-scale action and set him on a course to shepherd the big-budget movies he's now known for. As "Dune: Part Two" crosses box office milestone after box office milestone, "Sicario" still stands as the movie that made it all possible.

Still, Monkey Man‘s most formidable opponent is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which reigns supreme with $485M+. The New Empire opened one week ahead of Monkey Man, gobbling up most of the action-oriented box office. With Monkey Man coming to digital,...

Actor/director Dev Patel opens this two-minute look behind the scenes of Monkey Man by quoting a quote from the film: “The pain will leave you once it’s finished teaching you.” Patel, who made his feature film directing debut with the action thriller, learned that lesson the hard way, breaking his foot and his hand during shooting.
“I poured all of myself into this. Every frame, every beat, every detail…and it’s been a ferocious process making this film,” explained the Oscar nominated actor.
Joining Patel in front of the camera are Sharlto Copley (District 9), Pitobash (Million Dollar Arm), Vipin Sharma (Hotel Mumbai), Sikandar Kher (Aarya), Adithi Kalkunte (Hotel Mumbai), and Sobhita Dhulipala (Made in Heaven). Ashwini Kalsekar (Ek Tha Hero), Makarand Deshpande (Rrr), Jatin Malik, and Zakir Hussain (Duranga) also star.

Boondock Saints III: Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanery Returning? ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Despite high expectations for a trilogy following the release of the second Boondock Saints film in 2009, the likelihood of its materializing decreased as difficulties arose. However, there is newfound hope with the confirmation of Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles for the third part.
The revival of the 1999 cult classic film is currently in progress. Known for its thrilling sequences and dynamic choreography, this American vigilante action film is set to return. Thunder Road, recognized for producing the John Wick saga, has joined forces with Dragonfly Films to produce the next installment – or installments – in the Saints saga.
According to Deadline, Basil Iwanyk from Thunder Road Films conveyed excitement about bringing the MacManus brothers back to the screen, intending to enrich the iconic mythology and characters for existing fans and a fresh audience. Finally, Norman...

Original Boondock Saints stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery will both return for a third installment of the franchise, as Deadline reports, reprising their roles as Murphy and Connor MacManus respectively. Despite the consistent casting decisions, however, Troy Duffy, who directed both the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondocks Saints: All Saints Day, will not return to helm the project.
The announcement both affirms and amends a similar report from 2021. That report revealed Reedus and Flanery’s involvement, though Duffy was still set to direct at the time.
Though little has been revealed about the new film’s plot or production timeline, John Wick production house Thunder Road has officially joined current rights holder Dragonfly Films to help bring the sequel to life.

A new take on “The Boondock Saints” is in the works with the 1999 cult film’s original stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles as the MacManus Brothers.
Thunder Road Pictures, which produces the “John Wick” franchise and the upcoming “Monkey Man” from Dev Patel, announced it is teaming with the rights holder Dragonfly Films to the original 1999 cult film “The Boondock Saints” to jointly produce what’s being described as a “reimagining” rather than a direct sequel. Dragonfly Films also confirmed the news on its Instagram.
Reedus and Flanery both portrayed the Irish Catholic killers rooting out Boston crime all in the name of the Lord in the original film, and they also returned for the 2009 follow-up film, “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.” However, Troy Duffy, the story’s original director and writer, will not direct the new film but will produce it. By the luck of the Irish, a new film in The Boondock Saints series is getting locked and loaded! Deadline says the project is reimagining the brotherly action setup, with Thunder Road, the producer behind John Wick, turning the duo loose on audiences. Thunder Road will partner with Dragonfly Films for the project, with Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles from the original films.
Deadline‘s report says Troy Duffy, who helmed the first two films in the series (The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day), will not direct the new movie. The Boondock Saints reimagining revolves around the fraternal twin Irish MacManus Brothers, Connor (Flanery) and Murphy (Reedus), finding new Saints to carry their torch. Although he’s relinquishing the director’s chair, Troy Duffy is still in the Boondock Saints business. Rather than shoot the next film in the series, he...

In the wake of 1999 cult favorite The Boondock Saints and 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, a third movie is on the way soon, Deadline reports today.
Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are both set to return in a brand new Boondock Saints movie from Thunder Road and Dragonfly Films, the report indicates.
The new movie is said to be “a reimagining of the action film franchise.” The report this morning continues, “The story will involve the indoctrination of new Saints.”
Troy Duffy, who directed both the 1999 original movie and its 2009 sequel, will not be returning to direct the third installment. However, Deadline notes in their report that “Duffy plans to write a series of books about the Saints, continuing their story that way.”
In the original Boondock Saints, “Two Irish Catholic brothers (Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanery) become vigilantes and wipe out Boston’s criminal underworld in the name of God.

Exclusive: The rebirth of the 1999 cult favorite film The Boondock Saints is upon us. Thunder Road, the producer behind the John Wick films, has stepped in and joined rights-holder Dragonfly Films to make what they are calling a universe expansion of the action film franchise about the fraternal twin Irish brothers who raise holy hell to rid their Boston hometown of all criminals.
In the current configuration, Troy Duffy will step aside as director after creating and helming the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day. Both films starred The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery as the MacManus brothers, with Billy Connolly playing their father.
Reedus and Flanery will reprise their roles, and the search is on for a new director. Duffy plans to write a series of books about the Saints, continuing their story that way.

Expanding their canvas with their John Wick filmmaker even further, Lionsgate has signed a second production deal with Chad Stahelski that will see the filmmaker and his 87Eleven Entertainment label producing original action fare for the studio. It’s a multi-year first look.
The announcement comes just weeks after Stahelski signed on to direct a reimagination of the Highlander franchise as his next feature film, while also taking on creative oversight of the Highlander and John Wick franchises across film, television, and all multimedia platforms. Recently, to jazz up John Wick spinoff Ballerina even more, the Ana de Aramas action movie was delayed a year to summer 2025, first weekend of June, so that additional action scenes could be shot and added.
“Chad and his team at 8711 Entertainment are profoundly talented filmmakers and creative collaborators,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Chair Adam Fogelson. “They raise the bar of excellence on every project they take on,...

John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski has signed a first look production deal with Lionsgate.
Stahelski and his 87Eleven Entertainment banner will bring the Hollywood studio original action movies to collaborate on, with an eye to establishing future movie franchises. The production agreement is separate from a recently announced deal with Lionsgate that gives Stahelski oversight of two franchises: Highlander and John Wick, the latter of which has spanned four films directed by Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves.
Those films, and Stahelksi’s stunt-focused 87Eleven Entertainment, have been praised for reinventing the action genre. In light of that success, the multi-year first-look production deal, unveiled by Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, extends and expands the pact between the studio and the John Wick director.

Exclusive: Lionsgate’s John Wick spinoff Ballerina starring Ana de Armas will be delayed a year from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025. The move comes as John Wick architect Chad Stahelski has inked a new deal with Lionsgate to oversee the franchise. He’s working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on additional action sequences for the movie, to amp it up even more than it is.
Advance tracking is already hot on Ballerina, Lionsgate just wants to make the feature, produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road even better. Currently, the Ballerina stands alone on her new summer 2025 date.
Now, there’s nothing for exhibition to fret, for the Rupert Sanders’ redux of The Crow will be taking over Ballerina‘s summer date of June 7 this year. Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of The Crow in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr.

Ballerina is departing 2024, with the John Wick spinoff now opening June 6, 2025. In a twinned move, The Crow will fly into Ballerina‘s previous date of June 7, 2024.
The year-long delay for Ballerina is sure to turn heads, but Lionsgate insiders say it is because the film will be filming additional action sequences under the guiding hand of director Chad Stahelski, the mastermind behind the John Wick franchise. He will be working closely with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on the sequences. The studio feels that because its upcoming The Crow film is ready for theaters, it does not need to rush Ballerina into cinemas if they can make it better.
Ballerina stars Ana de Armas star as an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma. The film also stars Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, the late Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, with Ian McShane and Wick lead Keanu Reeves also among the cast.

Lionsgate’s “John Wick” spinoff “Ballerina,” starring Ana de Armas, has been pushed to 2025. Rupert Sanders’ “The Crow” remake will take over its release date of June 7, 2024, while “Ballerina” will bow on June 6, 2025.
Studio insiders say Chad Stahelski, who oversees the “John Wick” franchise along with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee at Thunder Road, is working closely with “Ballerina” director Len Wiseman on additional action sequences for the film. With “The Crow” ready to go, Lionsgate sees no reason to rush “Ballerina” into theaters just yet, especially with strong advance tracking numbers.

Talks of a sequel have been going on for a while and Deadline now reports that Greenland: Migration is set to film this April with the cast returning along with Ric Roman Waugh and screenwriter Chris Sparling. The tea leaves have aligned, and industry insider Daniel Richtman sees another casting for Lionsgate‘s Highlander reboot emerging from the pattern.
