Jack Black is set to re-team with his "Nacho Libre" director Jared Hess on the comedy "Micronations" at Buffalo Film Company and Electric Dynamite.
The story follows a lovable oddball who finds a place to belong among the bizarre and ridiculous world of 'do-it-yourself countries' inhabited by a motley crew of eccentrics and visionaries who have declared their own backyards sovereign nations.
He soon finds himself recruited as head of defense for the tiny nation of Valoria (population: 12), and is thrust into an overblown battle with the neighboring Wayne County, Nevada.
"New Girl" writers Robert Snow and Christian Magalhaes are penning the script while Brandt Andersen, Damon Ross, Dave Hunter and Hess are producing.

David Hunter was voted off 'Superstar' yesterday (24.07.12). The former boyband star lost out in the semi final sing-off to Rory Taylor, after they had performed Boyzone's ballad 'No Matter What' together. He was the last to leave the show ahead of the final tonight (25.07.12). Giving his decision as to who to save, show boss Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber said: ''When the talent is as good as this, the old reality show cliche that it is tough to choose is true. ''However, I'm now thinking really about the rock arena tour so I'm going to save Rory.'' Rory will now...

David Hunter became the last Superstar contestant to be eliminated before tomorrow's final. After the public vote, David and Rory Taylor ended up in the sing-off, where they sang Ronan Keating's 'No Matter What'. Earlier in the evening, David had performed 'I Try', made famous by Macy Gray, while Rory sang 'In The Air Tonight' by Phil Collins. After the sing-off, Lord Webber said that the reality show clichés about the decision being 'tough' and that we would "see the loser again" were definitely true in this case, before choosing to (more)...

The Superstar final four contestants have defended Andrew Lloyd Webber following his row with rejected singer Nathan James on last night's live show. Lloyd Webber was criticised by some viewers for singling out James for criticism over things he had written on Twitter, and for encouraging tabloid allegations that the 23-year-old had been acting like a diva backstage. However, the final four singers hoping to land the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar said that Lloyd Webber had every right to pull James up for his behaviour behind-the-scenes. "It was a strange one really and it's difficult, but Lloyd Webber is the man in control," said David Hunter. "It's his show. At the end of the day the guy who wins this competition will be playing the lead role in an incredibly huge arena tour and he needs to be on his side I suppose." (more)...

Contestants on ITV's Superstar have reportedly been hit with an alcohol ban for the remainder of the show. The wannabe musical stars (with the exception of David Hunter, who is tee-total) had allegedly been over-indulging in after-show drinking, with some turning up to rehearsals the next day with hangovers. A source told The Sun: "For a show about finding the new Jesus Christ Superstar, some of the behaviour has been distinctly un-godly. "Some of them have been whingeing that they are being worked too hard on the nightly series and were hitting the bottle to relax, but this is not on." The behaviour has reportedly resulted in Lord Webber implementing new rules, with the source confirming: "Alcohol has been (more)...

Tim Prottey-Jones has become the latest contestant to be eliminated from ITV's Superstar. The 32-year-old had been in the bottom two in the public vote for the second night in a row, and was eliminated after much deliberation from Andrew Lloyd Webber. The creator of Cats found the decision between Tim and fellow contestant David Hunter so difficult that he insisted on seeing both men's planned performances later in the show after their sing-off - a break from Superstar's normal format. The two men sang a duet of The Beatles' 'The (more)...

A 'singing Billy Elliot' and a rock star reject are among the acts who stun the judges during the first episode of Andrew Lloyd Webber's new talent show Superstar. Lloyd Webber and his judging team - Mel C, Jason Donovan and Dawn French - are looking for a rock opera sensation to star in the first UK arena tour of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The judges are left speechless by an audition from former Reemer singer David Hunter. If you ever sat through a geography class in junior high or high school thinking to yourself “there’s no way on Earth this subject could ever be interesting,” teacher David Hunter is here to prove you wrong. Hunter, a public school teacher who shares the joys of English and Social Studies with his students, has come up with a way to make the study of geography more interesting – by framing it within the narrative confines of the zombie apocalypse. To this end, the teacher has launched a Kickstarter program to fund what he’s calling “Zombie-Based Learning.” Using the zombie apocalypse as a backdrop, Hunter will make the study of geography and various other cultures more interesting to students who aren’t entirely engaged by the...

Actor known for her roles in The Ipcress File and Crossroads
The actor Sue Lloyd, who has died aged 72, exuded glamour and sophistication on screen in the 1960s, before finding renewed fame two decades later as Barbara Hunter in 714 episodes of the TV soap opera Crossroads. But it took two attempts by the serial's producers to persuade her to join a programme that was roundly abused by the critics.
"My initial reaction was to be a bit sniffy about it," Lloyd recalled in her 1998 autobiography, It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time. "The soap was renowned for its wobbly scenery, bizarre storylines and regular slaughtering by the critics. Why would I, just back from filming [Revenge of] The Pink Panther with Peter Sellers in the south of France and about to embark on the comedy The Upchat Line with John Alderton, want to get involved in a project like that?...

On 14th April 1865, John Wilkes Booth walked up behind Abraham Lincoln in his box at Ford’s Theatre and shot him. As this film’s tagline testifies however, although one man shot Lincoln, more than one man killed him. Booth and his accomplices were pursued and for the most part found and arrested, though Booth himself was shot rather than being brought in to stand trial. Booth and many of his co-conspirators met on occasion before the assassination at a guest house owned and run by Mary Surratt (Robin Wright). Her son John is nowhere to be found and so she is tried by a military court as a conspirator in the assassination. Frederick Aiken (James McAvoy), a lawyer and soldier who fought for the Union in the Us Civil War is assigned to Mary’s defence and despite his initial reluctance to defend her, eventually comes to see the...

The Film:
On April 14, 1865 President Abraham Lincoln was watching a play with his wife when John Wilkes Booth assassinated him. Growing up, everyone is taught this in history class. What many don’t learn about is the trial of the people that were arrested for conspiring to assassinate him. One of those people was a mother of two, 42 year old Mary Surratt. She owned the home where the group, including her son, John, and Booth had met to conspire on the assassination, or going by what Mary says, the kidnapping of the President. Since John had run and was not caught, the lawyers had decided to arrest Mary and bring her up on charges. If found guilty, she would be the first woman ever to be executed in the United States. There was only one thing standing between freedom and death for Mary, her lawyer, Fredrick Aiken. Fredrick was a...
