Opens: 2010
Cast: Naomi Watts, Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington
Director: Rodrigo Garcia
Summary: A tale of a mother and daughter, separated at birth, who struggle with the damage done by the most important person missing in their lives while a young African-Americn woman deals with an unwanted pregnancy and the adoption process.
Analysis: Scoring rave reviews in Toronto, the $7 million latest effort of Rodrigo Garcia ("Nine Lives," "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her") once again shows off his skill at weaving multiple narratives together in clever and unexpected ways. At its heart it's an emotional family drama, but Garcia excels with his female characters which makes the involvement of Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington and especially Annette Benning thrilling.
The few criticisms levelled at the film were toward some pacing and credibility issues in the last act, but otherwise praised it for not »

Do The Right Thing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Spike Lee’s groundbreaking fable about race relations in an ethnically mixed Brooklyn neighborhood during a sweltering New York summer remains as potent, timely and prescient as it was in 1989. Lee is among the cast, which also includes John Turturro, Danny Aiello, Samuel L. Jackson, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, and Rosie Perez (to name a few), that provide the tableaux-like framework for this stunning work. Criminally ignored by Oscar (it wasn't even nominated for Best Picture, but did garner nods for Supporting Actor Danny Aiello and Lee’s screenplay), it endures as a timeless classic. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Lee, Ernest Dickerson, Wynn Thomas, Joie Lee; Documentary; Deleted and extended scenes; Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround.

Everyone is enjoying the holiday here at PlanetdoorQ. We might be back later this weekend. We might all get drunk, hook up with hotties while singing the Star Spangled Banner and dance in the streets wearing nothing but sparklers and a smile. Until next we meet, enjoy the Holiday, be safe, and take a moment to remember all of those who lived, fought and died, for the hope, for the dream, for the reality of America.--Tann Declaration of Independence

Taking the fight from one jungle to another, Predator 2 releases its grip on Dutch and begins a new hunt for Lieutenant Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) in the streets of a semi-futuristic Los Angeles. While the original got by on its barebones approach to hunter versus the hunted, Predator 2 receives a budgetary boost and takes out all the stops. Unfortunately, the ability to do more seems to have stripped the story of the cleverness and wit of the original. Gone are the brilliant days of Dutch slathering himself in mud to hide himself from the heat-seeking Predator; in their place is an over-produced series of explosions and special effects which take away from the rustic charm the series created with the first installment. However, while Predator 2 may deny its primitive origins, it does do its part to further the Predator mythology.

Arnold Schwarzenegger might not be part of the Robert Rodriguez-produced Predator reboot Predators after all. Or at very least, he hasn't yet been asked. A rumor started circulating last week that Rodriguez had reached out to Schwarzenegger to be part of the movie, but that the Governator had yet to respond. Rodriguez wrote in to AICN to clear the air, saying that he hasn't contacted Arnold and they haven't even finished a script yet. We're still writing a new script, and although I know Arnold personally and he's the coolest person on the planet, I have not contacted him about this at all at this time. Schwarzenegger turned down an offer to appear in Stephen Hopkins' Predator 2, and the cameo was rewritten and given to Gary Busey. So I somehow doubt he would be interested in being part of the reboot, and honestly I don't see the point. »

In a story from Moviehole, Robert Rodriguez is overtly courting Arnold Schwarzenegger for his Predators movie.
Apparently, the Governor of California is a little busy at the moment so he hasn't responded, yet. The biggest problem with this is that the shoot is coming up soon so Schwarzenegger needs to get in touch with Rodriguez if this is going to happen.
Moviehole's source goes on to say that a role has even been written for Arnold. Rodriguez does not see Predators as a remake but rather a sequel to the original film.
The early rumors have Schwarzenegger coming back as Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer, "the canon-armed Special Forces leader" who battled the original extraterrestrial beast in the first film. Arnold's character will not be the lead in the film but one whose role should take a couple of days to shoot.,
Initially, Schwarzenegger had been asked to come aboard as »

As you know, Robert Rodriguez is producing a reboot of the Predator movie franchise titled Predators for 20th Century Fox. Moviehole has learned that Rodriguez has reached out to Arnold Schwarzenegger to be part of the movie, but the Governator has yet to respond. But how could Arnold be involved if the film is a complete reboot? Well... apparently the movie might not be a complete reboot after all. One of the sources claims that Rodriguez has written Schwarzenegger's character Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer into the story in a way that the movie would reboot the franchise, but still function as a quasi-sequel. Think Star Trek. He wouldn't be the lead character, or even a huge role, but be part of the film's main storyline. But will Arnold come back, even if it was only for a few days on the set? Schwarzenegger turned down an offer to appear in »
