"What do you two really think of each other?" Trinity Creative has revealed the official US trailer for the dark comedy film Decrypted, a wacky crypto film made by filmmaker Tom Sands. After debuting last year in the UK, the film is now available to watch on VOD in the US if anyone is curious - "the feature film that is taking the crypto community by storm." An outrageous and provocative film about a mismatched Nsa team who kidnap Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, to get the info they need to destroy cryptocurrencies. The botched interrogation forces together a group of people who then get into all kinds of trouble. The cast includes Talisa Garcia, Sophia Myles, David Hoflin, Amanda Abbington, Kevin McNally, Clive Francis, Aki Kotabe, Don Gilet, and Sophie Barker. This looks too dumb and kooky to be any good. But I'm glad someone is willing to...

When an extremely mismatched team of National Security Agency operatives take on a covert mission to kidnap the creator of Bitcoin – Satoshi Nakamoto – to extract, by any means necessary, the information they need to destroy cryptocurrencies, things go wildly wayward in this raucous romp. The botched Nsa interrogation forces together a homophobic field agent, a feminist technical adviser, a transgender asylum seeker, a crypto-anarchist, a racist Brexiteer and an inclusionist MI5 agent. Of course sparks start to fly when their opposing beliefs clash in major way. But a truth drug reveals a newfound honesty with riotous consequences…

Amazon has cancelled Z: The Beginning Of Everything, starring Christina Ricci, after the series had previously been greenlit for a season 2.
The initial renewal was a bit of surprise, given the lack of buzz around the first season of the Zelda Fitzgerald series, but it's even more of a surprise when considering that the Z writers' room had already started meeting for season 2 and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a reported $7 million had already been spent on a second season.
As the THR article notes, the renewal came shortly after the publishing of a Vox article on the apparent "sexist loophole" in Amazon Studios straight-to-series practices, while the subsequent cancellation comes in the wake of Amazon's rumoured decision to scale back its spending on original series heading into...

There’s a problem with the first season of “Z: The Beginning of Everything” that is reminiscent of, of all the unexpected things in this world, “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” (Please, give this a chance.)
“Batman v. Superman” is a notable film for how, scene by scene, it is a movie that actively dislikes its characters — from little touches to big choices, its only source of joy seems to be found in tearing down beloved icons into unrecognizable shells of themselves.
“Z” does not have that problem. In fact, it has the opposite dilemma. The Amazon Prime series, created by Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich, is just a little bit too in love with its leading lady. And while “Bvsdoj’s” antipathy towards its leads sucked all the joy out of the picture, “Z’s” infatuation with Zelda Fitzgerald detracts from its depiction of one of literature’s most fascinating and complicated women.

(Cbr) "Crossbones" isn’t your traditional pirate adventure. Based on the book "The Republic of Pirates" by Colin Woodard, the NBC drama follows the presumed-dead Blackbeard (played by John Malkovich), who’s alive and reigning over a secluded island of scoundrels and misfits. It’s here that undercover British agent Tom Lowe (Robert Coyle) plans to kill the notorious buccaneer. Making her U.S. acting debut, Lebanon-born actress Yasmine Al Massri plays Selima El Sharad, Blackbeard’s enigmatic confidant and object of his affections. Currently living in Los Angeles, Al Massri spoke with Spinoff Online about "Crossbones"' modern take on pirate lore, Selima’s relationship with Blackbeard, breaking stereotypes, and working with Malkovich. Spinoff Online: Before "Crossbones," how immersed were you with pirate pop culture? Yasmine Al Massri: I am part of this generation with "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Peter Pan." I think we all grew up in this culture of pirates.

Lots going on in this first trailer for NBC‘s new pirate drama. Crossbones stars a white-goateed John Malkovich as Blackbeard — Genius. Madman. Legend., we’re told — who reigns over a rogues gallery of outlaws and miscreant sailors in 1715. He comes up against Tom Lowe (Richard Coyle), an assassin masquerading as a physician who is sent to the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, and tasked with taking out the ruthless and much-feared Blackbeard. Hopefully Fox picks up Alcatraz for a second season because the two-hour season finale left viewers with plenty of new questions — and one possible major death.
In the season ender, Rebecca (Sarah Jones) finally came face-to-face with her grandfather, Tommy (David Hoflin), who is apparently one of the lieutenants on the side of the '63s faction who work for the Warden (Jonny Coyne). The other side is lead by Harlan (Steven Grayhm), and possibly Matt Craven's mysterious man (whom we'll call Mm throughout the story since he has no name) behind the door. What are their ultimate goals? Still not completely clear, but we do have a new theory. Why were they divided? Somebody broke a promise. Let's first take a look at the season-long mysteries that were answered, then dive into the new questions that the finale raised:

When we think of "Alcatraz," romance tends to be the last thing on our minds -- we tune in mostly for the continued exploration of the '63 mythology and the ramifications in present-day. Still, when Zap2it checked in with executive producers Jennifer Johnson and Dan Pyne, we had to get the scoop on Hauser (Sam Neill) and Lucy (Parminder Nagra).
We've caught glimpses of their love story over the first part of the season as Hauser has kept a bedside vigil -- plus, flashbacks to their early encounters at Alcatraz have helped to fill in the blanks. Johnson tells us that Hauser and Lucy are in a love triangle -- but don't worry, the creepy Dr. Beauregard isn't the other object of Lucy's affection.
The third side of that triangle, Pyne explains, is the time-jump itself. "The other element of that triangle is the jump," he says. "We're getting...

We begin this week on "Alcatraz" with former guard Guy Hastings (Jim Parrack) in his former quarters on Alcatraz. He has opened a spot in the baseboard that contains a gun and old photographs. A park ranger, whom he beats to death, surprises Hastings. Hastings replaces the baseboard and leaves the island. Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) is sharing a meal with her uncle, Ray Archer (Robert Forster). She is asking him questions about her grandfather, Tommy Madsen (David Hoflin). Ray gives her a photograph of himself as Tommy as children. She gets a call and has to leave. Madsen, Diego (Jorge Garcia) and Hauser (Sam Neill) meet at the guard's quarters, and where they learn their latest returnee is a guard. Madsen notices blood by the baseboard, and opens it. She finds two gun clips, and they ...

Only a month in to its freshman season and Alcatraz has already raised many mysteries. We've been dissecting them each week in hopes of figuring out the answers.
To recap: San Francisco detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) and Alcatraz expert Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia) were enlisted by federal agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) to track down a group of Alcatraz prisoners and guards who mysteriously vanished into thin air in 1963. Dubbed the '63s, the men are returning to present day with missions to track down keys that apparently unlock a secret "downstairs" door at the prison where... well, we don't know that yet, but we do know the prison doctors were taking the prisoners' blood, and Tommy Madsen (David Hoflin) was begrudgingly at the center of it.
