Summer 2009 will be like an ultimate fighting championship for sci-fi nerds (yes, we count ourselves among you): this summer's biggest tentpole features are all science fiction films—all of them established franchises that pack potential box office wallops. But of the three, which will be victorious at the box office...understanding, of course, that they're all likely to do very, very well?
It's the three Ts squaring off against one another: 'Trek', 'Terminator' and 'Transformers'. Each has it's own mythology; each has its own loyal fan base. And it's likely that many of the fans of one franchise are fans of at least one of the other two...if not all three.
Certainly, Paramount Pictures will do well either way, since both Star Trek and Revenge of the Fallen fall under it's production purview.
But there can be only one winner. So which one will stand victorious? »

In case you may not be aware of it, but director Michael Bay likes to blow things up. As in, pretty much anything and everything he lays his eyes on. And for “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen”, The Bayster has been given the Okay to blow everything up. That’s what happens when you make movies that make a gazillion dollars worldwide. You get to blow stuff up with impunity. Here’s a pretty cool minute-long featurette from the set of “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen”, featuring interviews with the stars and plenty of exploding cars, buildings, and other assorted objects. Starring Shia Labeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Benjamin Hickey, Ramon Rodriguez, Isabel Lucas and John Turturro. “TF2″ opens June 24.
