It’s time for another update from our friends at Arrow Video, this time previewing their <ay 2012 releases which include the long-awaited Blu-ray release of the House By the Cemetary and the ArrowDrome release of The Exterminator.
The House by the Cemetery (Arrow Video) Limited Edition Blu-ray
You may have just mortgaged your life! Shock gore master Lucio Fulci’s The House by the Cemetery is one of the finest typically single-minded exercises in zombie terror. Its just a shame no-one told the Boyle family who move into a gothic style house (by a cemetery) with a bloody past and a guts spraying future, what is yet to come! You’d think they’d twig given the basement door is nailed shut that they should get the hell out. Instead they stay long enough to discover their zombified non rent-paying lodger, the cellar-dwelling, flesh-hungry Dr Freudstein and boy is he pissed!

The Exterminator
Stars: Robert Ginty, Steve James, Samantha Eggar, Christopher George | Written and Directed by James Glickenhaus
Arrow Video are back again with another fantastic new Blu-ray release. Getting the Arrow treatment this time round is the exploitation movie classic The Exterminator which stars Robert Ginty as John Eastland, a Vietnam vet pushed over the edge after his best friend MIchael (played by cinematic badass Steve James), the man who also saved his life in ‘Nam, is left crippled following a gang attack one day after work. Seeking revenge for the attack Eastland takes to the streets to not only take out the gang but clean up New York, earning him the nickname “The Exterminator”.
I have a confession to make. Despite my love of exploitation movies and films of the 80s, I had never seen The Exterminator until now. I had seen the seen the sequel many years ago on a cut VHS tape,...

Vigilantes in movies have always been a popular concept, from the D.W. Griffiths 1913 western A Misunderstood Boy to last year’s Kick-Ass audiences have enjoyed the idea of “Ordinary Joes” taking the law into their own hands to right society’s wrongs and ensure justice is done. While vigilantes have remained a regular theme throughout the years, the genre has never been more prolific than during the 1970s and early 80s. Films such as Taxi Driver, Death Wish and The Exterminator, which is released on Blu-ray for the first time this week, took vigilantism to new levels, pushing boundaries of acceptable violence on film and reflecting the changes in American values following the Vietnam War.

Our good friends at Arrow have sent us details on their November release schedule, which includes the eagerly awaited (at least by me) special features-filled release of Wes Craven’s Deadly Blessing and the Robert McGinty starring classic The Exterminator!
The Exterminator Blu-ray (Arrow Video)
Scorching the streets clean… Flamethrowers ready as the alleyways of skid row are set ablaze with the brutal vengeance of one man… The Exterminator! John Eastland has been to ‘Nam and he’s seen things… Things you wouldn’t believe. Surviving torture and witnessing the brutal deaths of his friends, John returns home to a tough neighbourhood in New York and his loving family. But when some local thugs take a crippling dislike to his best friend Mike, leaving him paralysed, something snaps in John. Did he fight the Vietcong for this? Taking the law into his own hands, Eastland sets out to clean the streets of every low life,...

Our friends across the pond will soon be seeing the release of Harpoon: The Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre, known here in the States just as The Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre, at least for now, and we've got a look at the full trailer for its release for ya!
From the Press Release
The Icelandic film industry’s first ever bona fide foray into in-your-face exploitation horror movie territory, Harpoon: The Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre is a blackly comic and supremely gory affair that has led David Hayles of The Times to claim, “It’s tourists versus deranged whalers in this fright flick that’ll make you scream and blubber.”
Having recently been given a rapturously reception by a rabid audience of appreciative horror fans attending a sold out screening at the Glasgow Film Festival’s Annual Frightfest, Harpoon: The Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre comes to DVD in May 2010 courtesy of...
