Last September, as protests spread across Iran following the death of 22-year-old activist Mahsa Amini, the musician Shervin Hajipour released a song in support of the movement, “Baraye.” The song instantly went viral and has since become an anthem for the demonstrations — which is why Hanson’s Taylor Hanson is encouraging as many people as possible to participate in a new recording of the song.
Hanson and a new non-profit, For Women Life Freedom, are organizing the massive project, which aims to gather 16,000 voices for a new recording of “Baraye.

After this week’s episode, four performers are left in The Masked Singer‘s current season… and I’m fairly certain all of them aresuccessful recording artists.
That hypothesis certainly proved correct at the end of Wednesday’s episode, the results of which we’ll get to in a moment. And while I don’t begrudge the competition from including some stellar voices in the mix each season, isn’t it more fun when the people underneath all the fur and feathers aren’t known for their vocal abilities?

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 5 Episode 11 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired May 12 on Fox.
Hanson has been mmm-bop’ed off “The Masked Singer.” The pop star brothers were unmasked on Wednesday’s episode as the Russian Dolls.
The trio became the first group to compete on the show; last season, the couple Clint Black and Lisa Hartman performed as a duo under the Snow Owls costume. But the Hanson brothers told Variety they were attracted to the idea of pulling off another “Masked Singer” first. Early on, the show’s panelists couldn’t even figure out how many performers were on stage.
“It was very clear from the beginning they loved the idea of playing the game,” Zac Hanson said. “It was, ‘Hey, let’s play with this idea of how many people are on stage.’ Whenever we could, we tried to keep playing that game.

After featuring its first-ever two-person costume, the Snow Owls, on Season 4, “The Masked Singer” stepped its multiple-celebs-competing-as-one-contestant game way up in the currently airing Season 5, which included the Russian Dolls costume. From the first day the nesting contestant was introduced until they were eliminated on Wednesday, the judges and viewers didn’t know exactly how many people were inside the dolls. But their unmasking confirmed three people were part of the costume — three siblings, in fact.
Yes, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson were the trio inside the Russian Dolls, and TheWrap spoke with them about how they pulled off that trickery until tonight’s quarterfinals. We also asked what they thought of all the judges’ incorrect guesses — including Ken Jeong’s theory that they were the Jonas Brothers.
TheWrap: When you signed on for the show, did you know you would be doing it in this crazy complicated, tricky costume?...

Put simply, Hanson is feeling grateful. Perennial, the latest album from the pop-rock trio—formed in 1992 by brothers Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zac Hanson—is a testament to that. "There's no way we can properly clarify how appreciative we are over these 20 years of [our fans] because life—there's a lot of ups and downs," Isaac explained on Friday, Nov. 2's Daily Pop. "2020 is a great example of that. There's a lot of curveballs thrown at you throughout your life, and music has the power to heal hearts and bring people together." "And that's what it's always done for us as artists," he continued. "And it certainly seems...

As someone who absolutely adores horror comedies in all forms, Abe Forsythe’s Little Monsters quickly won over my genre-loving heart and is my favorite movie that I’ve seen this year at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. A light-hearted tale of a kindergarten teacher who must protect her students against a horde of bloodthirsty zombies with the unlikely assistance of a professional slacker, there are numerous reasons why I absolutely adored Little Monsters, but I must admit, watching Lupita Nyong’o beheading zombies and playing Taylor Swift on her trusty ukulele made this gem of a film nearly impossible to resist.
Little Monsters begins with a montage of scenes featuring Dave (Alexander England) constantly bickering with his girlfriend over his need to grow up and her desire for a more fulfilling relationship that includes kids. The pair ultimately decide to call it quits, with Dave retreating to his older sister Sara’s (Nadia Townsend) home,...

Turns out "MMMBop" isn't just a silly sound in a catchy pop song. Brothers Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zac Hanson sat down with E! News to talk about how they've grown over the years and what it means to mark 25 years together as a band. When asked about how it feels to have been doing their thing for a quarter of a century, Taylor joked, "We're tired, we're very tired." Zach chimed in more seriously, "You know, 25 years is a big deal, and obviously it's been our life and so you experience it day by day...but being able to put that kind of landmark on what you've done, I think there's a sense of gratification, a sense of completion, that you've...

What do you get when you combine the power of the Force with the power of Hanson? One incredible mashup. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon gave fans the ultimate throwback on Monday by airing a video of Star Wars characters singing a rendition of "MMMBop." Hanson isn’t here to offer advice to the next generation of pop phenoms -- but if they were, the wisdom they’ve gained is priceless.
“Because we started young, we often get asked to give advice to other young artists,” says Zac Hanson, 32, the band’s youngest member, who was just six years old when they began making music together more than 25 years ago.
“Usually it’s sort of like, ‘Why do we need to give advice? I don’t even know that guy. He’ll be fine,’” he continues. “But I think probably the best advice anyone can have is to study the history, study the artists who came before you because that will make you a better writer, that will make you a better performer, that will give you a better understanding of the landscape you’re going into.”
Including, he says, the daunting, tempting and fleeting fame game.

The Olsen twins could solve any crime by dinnertime, women were asking their stylists for "The Rachel" and there was an infectious song called "MMMBop" topping charts and stealing hearts around the world. Most of these late-nineties fads fizzled out, but Zac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Isaac Hanson—the members of the logically named band Hanson—kept right on rocking and bopping-ba-duba-dopping long after our Tamagotchis died and flannel fell out of fashion. May 6 marks 20 years since the release of Hanson's debut studio album, Middle of Nowhere. This was the CD (or cassette—it was 1997, after...

The Hanson brothers aren't really amazed that they're all in their 30s—that's kind of how time works, you know?—but they understand the Internet's fascination with the fact that they are so much older now than when they first became famous. "I think we broke onto the pop culture scene as young kids and I think people make that connection and have that association. I think a lot of the 'Oh my god, I can't believe it's been this long since a song came out' is that people see themselves," Taylor Hanson, now 33, tells E! News on the set of ABC's new summer series Greatest Hits. "They go, 'Oh my gosh, has that much time passed?'" Adds Zac Hanson, now...

Our host for tonight is Elizabeth Banks, aka not Donald Trump Thank God. In addition to not being a racist overgrown oompa loompa, Banks’s other credits include being the director, producer, and co-star of last summer’s Pitch Perfect 2, a key supporting actress in The Hunger Games franchise, a beloved guest star on shows from Scrubs to 30 Rock, and a generally very funny actress/director/producer. And now she can add first-time SNL host to the list! Cold Open: Cecily Strong delivers a heartfelt message on behalf of New York City to the people of Paris. This was a really classy move on SNL’s part, reminiscent of the warm way they handled their first episodes post-9/11. All in all a well-handled and somber start to the night. Monologue: Elizabeth Banks uses the skills she picked up from Pitch Perfect 2 to direct her own musical monologue performance of What a Feeling.

So if One Direction is a 10 and 98 Degrees is a 1, where do 5 Seconds of Summer, whose full-length self-titled debut comes out today (22), fall on the Boy Band-ometer? Let’s look at a few factors and bring in a few more boy band metrics. *Harmonies: The pinnacle of Boy Band Harmony is Backstreet Boys on “As Long As You Love Me,” followed closely by Boyz II Men on “I’ll Make Love To You.” On each, their voices wrap around each other in a gorgeous blend of longing. Few boy groups seem to understand that singing in unison is not the same as harmonizing and warbling “Oh, oh” together a lot—on almost every song— doesn’t constitute harmony. The members of 5Sos tend to trade off on lines and then all four sing together. Bsb and B2M have nothing to worry about. Grade: C *Songs: Remember how other than “You Don't Know You're Beautiful,...

Zac Hanson, of boy band Hanson fame, is used to having female fans in his face — not a disgusting wad of spit!
It’s definitely not 1996 anymore! Hanson used to be one of the most popular bands around in the nineties, with girls screaming and crying every time they saw Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zac Hanson perform — but now, they sadly get spit on, too! Why would someone hock a loogie right in Zac’s face? Watch for yourself!
Zac Hanson’s Hair And Face Gets Spit On
Hanson was as popular in 1996 as One Direction is today — but it looks like some people might not love the boy band anymore — especially not the man that rudely spit right in Zac’s face!
Zac, the youngest Hanson brother and drummer of the still-together boy band, was boarding his tour bus in Seattle, Wash. on Sept. 30, kicking off Hanson’s Anthem World Tour.

MmCops / Busted a woman who wouldn't stop / Hanson says she still mmStalks / In Des Moines.
Yeah, yeah.
Alexandra Eileen Martin, 25, isn't allowed to go near the '90s pop trio "Hanson" because they have a no-contact order against her. But on Wednesday, cops say she revealed that her stalking hits -- unlike Hanson's -- keep on coming.
The band allegedly spotted Martin at a charity fundraiser preceding a show in Des Moines, according to the Des Moines Register. She was reportedly within arm's reach of the middle brother, Taylor Hanson, even though her court order forbids her from standing within 300 yards of the Hanson family.
The group apparently didn't want to make a scene, so they waited until their show that night to have police track her down in the audience and arrest her. She was located in the middle of the crowd at the Nightfall on the River concert series at Simon Estes Amphitheater.

It turns out they have been working on the beer for a while now, but were finally able to introduce it to the world at the recent premiere after party for The Hangover III.

The boys of Hanson -- who are not so much boys anymore, but full-grown men now -- confused onlookers when they hit the red carpet at "The Hangover Part III" premiere. While it's easy to still think of these three brothers as fresh-faced youngsters, bear in mind they are all well over the legal drinking age now -- in fact, two of them are past 30 -- and so it's perfectly fine that they told a reporter for Maximo their favorite drunken memories.

It's hard to write or even interview a member from Hanson without thinking of the still very catchy tune "MMMBop" that was released back on April 17 1997. So—because of the difficulty—it was included in part of the chat I recently had with Taylor Hanson, which just so happened to take place one day before the 16th anniversary of when the titled album was first released. During our chat, the 30-year-old gave me a behind-the-scenes look on what he always needs while out on tour, his favorite songs the group has created, and what he and his brothers Zac and Isaac like to do when they aren't in the studio or on the road.

It's great! We are just getting off the ground with a new album.
