Watchmen—The Ultimate Cut (Warner Bros.) Director Zack Snyder’s film of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ landmark graphic novel is as worthy an adaptation of a great book that has ever been filmed. In an alternative version of the year 1985, Richard Nixon is serving his third term as President and super heroes have been outlawed by a congressional act, in spite of the fact that two of the most high-profile “masks,” Dr. Manhattan (Billy Cruddup) and The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) helped the U.S. win the Vietnam War. When The Comedian is found murdered, many former heroes become concerned that a conspiracy is afoot to assassinate retired costumed crime fighters. Former masks Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson), Silk Spectre (Malin Akerman) and still-operating Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley, in an Oscar-worthy turn) launch an investigation of their own, all while the Pentagon’s “Doomsday »

Kellan Lutz may be pretty busy as Emmet Cullen in The Twlight Saga, but he still found time to play a role in the upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Lutz joked to About.com that he may take over a surprise role.
It's great. I kill Jackie Earle Haley and take away his glove and sweater — the sweater itches.
Lutz will actually play Dean, one of Freddy's potential victims, and while he didn't give out any spoilers, he did promise that the movie will be scary.
It's really cool to be a part of something that now, since all our minds are so corrupted with blood, guts and gore, that this generation, it takes something special to scare our generation now. It's revamped. And where 10 years ago, someone just knocking on the door, you're like "Oh, w-who is that?" You know, what Nightmare on Elm Street is gonna show, »

This past weekend there was a test screening for the highly anticipated Platinum Dunes re-imagining of the horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street. Lucky for us, someone going by the pseudonym “Skin Peeler” was in attendance and wrote up an extremely lengthy review of the film for the folks over at Ain’t It Cool News.
What did he think? While I’ve sampled some of the highlights from the review here, I can tell you right now that it appears much work needs to be done before the April 30, 2010, release date. Keep in mind that none of the effects, sound, editing (pretty much everything) are final at this moment.
In an attempt to save space and get right to the review, I shall save my musings and non-sequiturs until the end. I should also note that we tweaked some of the original text from the review – didn’t »

French actress Eva Green got all sorts of naked for U.K. magazine Tatler. The 29-year-old recreated a 1973 photo of screen-icon Charlotte Rampling.
Eva Green may be best known for playing Vesper Lynd in the James Bond reboot Casino Royale. She was also in the Bernardo Bertolucci film, The Dreamers, where the starlet was largely nekkid for the whole thing.
Rampling is a cinema legend who frequently appeared in risque films. The English actresses’ career has spanned over four decades in English, as well as French and Italian movies. “I generally don’t make films to entertain people. I choose the parts that challenge me to break through my own barriers,” the now 63-year-old said. “A need to devour, punish, humiliate, or surrender seems to be a primal part of human nature, and it’s certainly a big part of sex. To discover what normal means, you have to surf a tide of weirdness. »

Kellan Lutz ('Emmett Cullen') spent his downtime between Twilight films New Moon and Eclipse working on the new A Nightmare on Elm Street film. Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children) takes over the role of Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund portrayed the killer in all the previous films) and Lutz plays Dean, one of the people Freddy terrorizes, in this new, revamped take on the decades-old horror franchise.
Although the La press day for New Moon was focused 99.9% of the time on all things Twilight, A Nightmare on Elm Street came up during the press conference Lutz was a part of. When asked about the dream sequences and what audiences can expect from the 2010 film, Lutz joked that his character actually becomes the steel-gloved killer.
"It's great. I kill Jackie Earle Haley and take away his glove and sweater -- the sweater itches," said Lutz, laughing. "No. You know what? »

Horror fans will be slipping back into a new Nightmare on Elm Street on April 30th, 2010, but we're already being teased with new Freddy Krueger toys, thanks to Entertainment Earth and Mezco Toyz. You can buy a little Freddy of your own in plastic or vinyl next April just in time for Jackie Earle Haley's debut as the mutilated monster who haunts our dreams.
The first question I had when I saw the plastic toy was, why does he look like those little dolls with dried apple heads that are sold at craft fairs by sweet grandmas? But thanks to a wily blogger over at Albotas and the wonders of Photoshop, you can see that Earle Haley's Freddy definitely looks more like this toy than Robert Englund's Freddy.
I'm not sure which I prefer -- the menacing creep with a big smile or the flat-faced, expressionless killer. An »

It’s a bit late but to finally end my Halloween champion Slasher report on who is the king out of Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger, I have watched the entire back catalogue of their films and given a run down on each characters franchise story and best kills.
Part 1 was on Jason, Part 2 was Michael Myers and finally Part 3 is on the killing Dream Demon Freddy Krueger.
Set on Elm Street, Freddy is the reason I struggled to sleep through the late 80’s due to being terrified of him visiting me in my dreams.
Beware pictures of blood, a lot of gushing blood and other violent deaths.
And so a little rhyme to begin this story:
One, two, Freddy’s coming for you.
Three, Four, Better Lock your door.
Five, Six, grab your Crucifix.
Seven, Eight, Gonna stay up late.
Nine, Ten, Never sleep again.

Jackie Earle Haley recently spoke to MTV about the upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, where Haley will take over the iconic role of Freddy Krueger, and revealed that it will "be a little darker, and a little more serious" than the original. According to a review of Nightmare posted on AICN, the movie is full of dark imagery, but other than that is described as having "slick production value with little meat to sink your teeth into."
The review's few positive mentions mostly deal with Haley's performance, calling it "no nonsense, to the point, smarmy, ugly, repulsive and just plain vile," which we swear is a compliment. Pretty good praise for a role that Haley says he won after online fans said he'd be perfect for the part.

According to the actor, Willis plays the man who hires Stallone and his titular team for "a death-defying mission," but there's another operative that could take on the job — none other than Stallone's longtime rival, played by Schwarzenegger. "I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition," said Stallone. (PopWatch)

The first review for Platinum Dunes' A Nightmare on Elm Street redux is now alive and kicking. Good? Bad? It's both a little and a lot of both, if that makes any sense. Then again, in Krueger land ... does anything really make sense?
The Samuel Bayer directed remake stars Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, and Connie Britton and focuses on a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.
Check out the first review over at AICN, and let us know what you think or have to add below. Let the speculation begin! Something tells us we're going to be in for a very long ride.

Jackie Earle Haley has promised a "deeper" version of the reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street. The Watchmen star, who has signed up to play iconic villain Freddy Krueger in the remake to Wes Craven's 1984 classic, has said that the forthcoming movie will pay homage to the horror franchise. Haley told MTV: "I think the glove is pretty familiar. It's really important for us, I think, as we're re-imagining this, that there is a good, strong sense of new and fresh - yet there's some recognisability, you know? "A lot of what was in that first movie is also in this movie, as far as the structure of it and how it (more) »

When the new A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theaters on April 30, 2010, audiences will see a wholly re-imagined horror film arrive in theaters. Based on the original 1984 film by the same name, A Nightmare on Elm Street will showcase a new story, a new cast and most of all, a new villain.
“We are going to debut a new character into the Nightmare mythos. He is going to go by the name of ‘Freddy Krueger’ and he will have a glove with sharp metal appendages,” says Shannon Spogel, a spokeswoman for Platinum Dunes studios. “He is going to haunt the dreams of the children whose parents killed him. It’s going to be really spooky.”
This isn’t the first remake for Michael Bay-owned Platinum Dunes. The studio also released Friday the 13th earlier this year which departed from the original formula used by the pre-existing Friday the 13th »

Connie Britton is not known for horror movies. In fact, the Friday Night Lights actress told the NY Post that it took Rob Zombie and the casting of Jackie Early Haley to convince her to take a role in A Nightmare on Elm Street, the remake of Wes Craven's 1984 horror movie — a movie Britton admits she's only seen parts of.
I've known Rob Zombie for a long time and he's always been telling me, "Connie, you gotta make a horror movie!" But I was still too chicken. But when I heard Jackie Earle Haley was doing Freddy, I thought that this was the time. But in retrospect, now that I've seen a good part of the original, it made no difference because what we do in the new one is so substantially different.
Britton is playing the mother of heroine Nancy (Rooney Mara), but isn't sure that her role »

I'm a Mets fan, so these days I prefer to consume my baseball in fictional terms rather than deal with the reality that my boys are a bunch of overpaid, oft-injured embarrassments to the triumphant – if drug scandal-tinged – legacy of Strawberry, Hernandez and Gooden.
Confronted with the choice to root for the Yankees or the Phillies in this year's World Series – or even the option to watch the action – I plan to opt for nearly anything else. My girlfriend wants to take in the last couple episodes of "The Rachel Zoe Project" on TiVo? Sign me up! My elderly neighbor needs me to wash her hosiery? I'm there! And if I get the chance, I'm going to pop in a DVD and take in some of the great fictional baseball teams in movie history to forget about this season. Here are my picks:

Jackie Earle Haley has promised a "deeper" 'Nightmare on Elm Street' remake.
The actor is set to play Robert Englund's iconic character Freddy Krueger in the forthcoming movie and says filmmakers have done their best to pay homage to the horror franchise while still offering a fresh angle.
He said: "I think the glove is pretty familiar. It's really important for us, I think, as we're re-imagining this that there is a good, strong sense of new and fresh -- yet there's some recognisability, you know?
"A lot of what was in that first movie is also in this movie, as far as the structure of it and how it plays out. It's a little bit deeper; we dove into

For decades, Hollywood cast the person they thought would bring in the most money for a movie role, often resulting in some odd choices (Vince Vaughn in "Psycho," Kevin Costner in "Robin Hood," Keanu Reeves in virtually everything) that were largely rejected by audiences. But now, it's the 21st century, and the Internet has made film more of a conversation than a monologue. From Michael Chiklis as The Thing in "Fantastic Four" to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in "Wolverine," several high-profile castings of the last few years have begun online — and Jackie Earle Haley couldn't be happier.

Connie Britton, who plays Nancy's mom in Samuel Bayer's re-imagining of the Wes Craven classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, is never one to mince words, and she had some really interesting things to say about the new film. Curious? We know you are.
In a recent interview with The New York Post Britton had this to say:
"You are going to be shocked to hear this; I'd never seen 'Elm Street' before we started shooting. Isn't that funny?" adding that it was her intention to give her a fresh take on the character. "That was my intention, but also because I'm a scaredy cat," she tells the Post. "I've known Rob Zombie for a long time and he's always been telling me, 'Connie, you gotta make a horror movie!' But I was still too chicken. But when I heard Jackie Earle Haley was doing Freddy, I thought that this was the time. »

I don't know if you caught last night's 2009 Scream Awards on Spike TV last night. But if you didn't, then you missed out on one of the strangest parades of Hollywood back-patting ever staged. For those unfamiliar with this new heir to the Oscars and the Golden Globes, the Scream Awards are ostensibly all about celebrating the best in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror on both the big and the small screen. And just to show that the event is even cooler than the MTV Movie Awards, the categories honor such superlatives as Best Horror Movie, Best Villain, and my personal favorite, »
