- Played defensive tackle (under birth name Donald Stansauk) for the National Football League's Green Bay Packers, 1950-1951.
- Two-time AWA World Tag-Team champion, once teamed with Lenny Montana, who would later play "Luca Brasi:" in The Godfather (1972).
- Professional wrestler (as Hard Boiled Haggerty) in 1950s and 1960s.
- Played pro-ball with both the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions before competing as a wrestler in the late 40s.
- Haggerty was in a car accident on June 20, 2003 in Los Angeles. Haggerty's neck was broken and he had other severe injuries. He never fully recovered from the accident and on January 27, 2004, Haggerty died at his home in Malibu, California.
- Turned to acting after retiring form wrestling in the late 60s.
