First Official High Res Look at Joe Carnahan's The A-Team

23 October 2009 12:57 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Man this photo is contrasty! A few weeks back we brought you the very first spy shot of the four members of The A-Team shooting in in Canada (and the first photo of the van roaming around as well). Now we have the actual first official photo from Fox for Joe Carnahan's The A-Team for your viewing pleasure. It was sent over to us by the SalonDelMal blog, but it's popping up everywhere, so I'm sure you find it anywhere. I've gotta say, from the looks of it, they really did choose a perfect cast for this. They all look badass and they're all pretty damn talented too (except Quinton Jackson?). Anyway, take a look at the big full photo below! This Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces, Pride and Glory) directed and Michael Brandt / Derek Haas (Wanted) written adaptation of the 1980's TV show is about a group of ex-Army »

Producers cut ‘Beverly Hills Cop 2′ & ‘3′ from upcoming sequel

16 October 2009 2:04 PM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Beverly Hills Cop 4 will be a sequel to the original 1984 Martin Brest film and will toss aside Beverly Hills Cop 2 and 3.

Directed by Brett Ratner and written by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, Beverly Hills Cop 4 will bring back detectives Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton). Reinhold is reportedly on board for the project while Ashton is in final negotiations.

Haas and Brandt, who collaborated on 3:10 to Yuma and Wanted (both were adaptations from previous source material), will adapt their script for Dying Day, a film centered on a two FBI agents who discover that the entire office is on the take. The story will lean towards a dark comedy but provide ample opportunities for Eddie Murphy to provide some laughter.

The news is reminiscent of Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns which nixed the Superman III and Superman IV from super-history in order to bring the »

Beverly Hills Cop IV Getting Yet Another Writer

16 October 2009 10:10 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

There's a lot of news out there today about Beverly Hills Cop IV, and none of it seems to agree with each other. First Moviehole was reporting that the characters Rosewood and Taggart, played by Judge Reinhold and John Ashton respectively, would be returning for the fourth film, and that Derek Haas and Michael Brandt's script Dying Day would be the basis for the new film. Now Collider, having spoken to "a trusted source," is saying that's all wrong. Apparently Haas and Brandt's script is being tossed entirely, and new writers are being brought in, meaning that nobody knows who will even be writing the next film, much less who will wind up in it. Basically, despite script reviews and all kinds of information that's been leaking over the internet in the past few months, no one knows anything about this project yet, and it's not ready to film »

Exclusive Beverly Hills Cop 4 News

16 October 2009 9:29 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Last night, Moviehole reported Rosewood and Taggart (Judge Reinhold and John Ashton) would be returning to the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise in the upcoming 4th film. If you don’t remember, John Ashton wasn’t in the third film, and a new character (Hector Elizondo) was written in to take his place. Moviehole also reported screenwriters Derek Haas and Michael Brandt’s spec script “Dying Day” was being used for the story and it was being reworked with the Beverly Hills Cop characters.

Unfortunately, their news was a bit premature, as I just spoke to a very trusted source and they told me it’s not clear who will be back on “Beverly Hills Cop 4″ as the studio is hiring a new writer and they are starting over.

While I would love to see a reunion of the original cast in “Beverly Hills Cop 4″, with the studio hiring a new writer, »

'Beverly Hills Cop 4' to 'be direct sequel'

16 October 2009 6:56 AM, PDT | Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

The makers of Beverly Hills Cops 4 plan the movie as a direct sequel to the 1984 original, it has been reported. Lorenzo di Bonaventura was hired to produce the proposed project in 2006 by Paramount to work on the action-comedy. According to Moviehole, he is to completely discard any correlation to follow-ups released in 1987 and 1994, respectively. The latter instalment, directed by John Landis, was a failure with critics and audiences alike. Original cast members Judge Reinhold and John Ashton are said to reprise their roles as Det Billy Rosewood and Sgt John Taggart alongside star Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley. Ashton was unable to appear in the third film in the series, due to scheduling conflicts. Wanted writers Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (more) »

New Beverly Hills Cop 4 Updates

16 October 2009 5:55 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Two somewhat-conflicting reports have just surfaced on the status of an upcoming sequel. Moviehole reported that Derek Haas and Michael Brandt's spec script Dying Day was to be reworked into the story for Beverly Hills Cop 4, but that might not be the case.

Collider is now reporting that the studio is currently seeking a new writer for the film and is looking to start the sequel over from scratch.

Moviehole also reported that Judge Reinhold and John Ashton would reprise their roles as Rosewood and Taggart for the sequel, but Collider's source indicates that it isn't clear yet who would return for the sequel.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all Beverly Hills Cop 4 updates as soon as we have more information.

'Beverly Hills Cop 4' Planned as Dark Sequel to Original Film

15 October 2009 9:35 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

With a new 'Beverly Hills Cop' movie in the pipeline, many people who fondly remember the original film (which did stellar box office and made a star of Eddie Murphy) are understandably curious about what's being planned, given that the third film was about as enjoyable as a hot poker enema.

According to Moviehole, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura plans to detour directly around the second and third films and make Beverly Hills Cop 4 a direct sequel to the original film.

And that means doing his level best to bring back detectives Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton). Reinhold is apparently already onboard, and the studio is in negotiations to get Ashton to sign aboard as well.

Brett Ratner is slated to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4 from a script by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (3:10 to Yuma, Wanted). The plan is to retool a script »

Exclusive Interview: Derek Haas

5 October 2009 5:35 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

A while back FirstShowing.net posted this story about Jerry Bruckheimer acquiring the rights to a short story written by Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma scribe, Derek Haas. The story is titled Shake was one of many that Haas featured on his short story website PopcornFiction.com.

If you haven’t heard of PopcornFiction.com, it’s a website that Haas created so that he and other screenplay writers/writers could flex their genre short fiction muscles. As a subscriber to the site, I get updated each time a new story is published. I read Shake and actually emailed Haas to let him know how much I loved the story and that I hoped there would be a part two. Crafty devil that he is, he ended the story in a bit of a cliffhanger. The short story deals with an FBI agent who is on the hunt for a »

First Look: Joe Carnahan's The A-Team Actors in Action

1 October 2009 10:23 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

A few weeks back we featured the first photo of the infamous van from The A-Team. Now we finally have a photo showing all four lead actors that are part of the "team" shooting up in Vancouver. ComingSoon has the photo and it's not the greatest quality, but for some reason I'm just excited seeing this. From left to right there is: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson looking a bit upset, Liam Neeson with some short grey hair, Sharlto Copley looking pretty much the same, and Bradley Cooper looking a little more sleek. As I already said, it's just exciting (for me at least) to see the four of these guys standing together. Can't wait for more photos! Today we have a couple of first looks for you lucky Screen Rant readers: a first look at the new A-Team, and also our first look at the costume Seth Rogen will be donning to play the masked superhero, The Green Hornet.

The A-Team

We recently gave you the first look at the new A-Team van on the Vancouver set of the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic ’80s TV series. And today - thanks to ComingSoon.net - we have our very first look at Liam Neeson (as Hannibal), Bradley Cooper (as Faceman), Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (as B.A. Baracus) and District 9’s Sharlto Copley (as Murdock). It’s not the greatest of photos (I think we’re a few months away from official, high quality shots) but it nonetheless serves as our first look at the new Team.

Patrick Wilson Joins The A-Team

21 September 2009 12:45 PM, PDT | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

Patrick Wilson (Watchmen, Hard Candy) is set to join the cast of “The A-Team” as a CIA operative, according to Entertainment Weekly. Wilson will be possibly assigned to hunt down the war vets convicted of a crime they didn’t commit and are now on the run as fugitives while helping the oppressed seek justice. He is joining Liam Neeson (John “Hannibal” Smith), Bradley Cooper (Templeton “Face” Peck), Sharlto Copley (H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock), Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (B.A. Baracus) and Jessica Biel (Faceman’s ex-flame).

The story keeps the premise of the classic 80’s TV series but will take a more serious tone with the story of four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery escape from a military prison to become mercenaries helping the impoverished.

The film will be directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces), produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, with screenplay written by Derek Haas, »

The A-Team: First Look At The New Van & More Casting News

19 September 2009 1:54 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Today we have a double whammy of new items from the upcoming movie version of the classic 80s TV series, The A-Team. They are a new piece of casting news (don’t worry, none of the already announced actors have been replaced!) and our very first look at the famous A-Team black-with-red-stripe-van.

First up, let’s take a look at the new A-Team van, by way of a photo from the set (from SplashNews) where the movie is currently filming in Vancouver. Die hard fans of the original series will be pleased to know that the new van isn’t all that different from the original (I mean generally - I suspect die hards will nitpick…), which I don’t think is much a problem since that was one of the less cheesier things from the series. It can easily be transferred almost identically to the 21st century movie update and work just as well. »

First Look: The New A-Team Van Being Chased Around Canada

19 September 2009 1:00 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Yep, there it is, kickin' up dust and driving around the Canadian backcountry. Splash News has landed the first few photos of the iconic black van from The A-Team being chased around British Columbia, Canada. Yes, we already know who's in the cast, yes we already know that this is shooting, yes we already know that Joe Carnahan is directing, and yes, now we know the van is back. There's really nothing more to say about this. I mean, it's a van, and it's supposedly got the A-Team in the back of it, but they're probably not there in this shot. Splash ends this the best: "There's no catching this testosterone-fueled, four-wheeled hellcat." This Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces, Pride and Glory) directed and Michael Brandt / Derek Haas (Wanted) written adaptation of the 1980's TV show is about a group of ex-Army Special Forces who work as soldiers while being on »

Biel and Copley Join Carnahan’s Team

Jessica Biel and Sharlto Copley, star of Neill Blomkamp’s District 9, are in talks to join Fox's big screen version of the popular 80s television series The A-Team. The two would join Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper and Quinton “Rampage" Jackson. Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces) is directing with Ridley Scott producing with Jules Daly and series creator Stephen J. Cannell. The film keeps the TV series premise of four wrongly convicted vets escaping from prison to become do-gooder mercenaries but carries a more serious tone than the small-screen version. Copley will portray helicopter pilot Capt. "Howling Mad" Murdock, a role originated by Dwight Schultz in the original series. Biel's set to play the ex-love of Cooper's character Faceman, the general pursuing the team. Neeson's set to play John "Hannibal" Smith, the role originated by George Peppard, and Jackson's on board as Sgt. "B.A." Baracus, portrayed by Mr. T in the series. »

De Mornay Becomes A 'Mother' And Jamie Chung On 'Sucker Punch' In Today's Dailies -- 8/31/09

-- Rebecca De Mornay, who I'll always identify with the delightfully cheesy "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle," gets to roll out her sadistic mommy act again when she stars in the upcoming remake of the 1980 horror flick "Mother's Day." Latter-day "Saw" director Darren Lynn Bousman is directing, so expect plenty of greasy, grimy gore to keep you up at night when De Mornay and her band of twisted sociopaths terrorize a family living in their old home. (Variety)

-- Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the revenge flick "Driving Angry," which will be a 3-D release. Cage will play a man who sets out on a quest for bloody murder after his daughter is killed and her child is kidnapped. Patrick Lussier will direct a script that he co-wrote with Todd Farmer. Lussier previously directed "My Bloody Valentine 3D," so he's got plenty of experience in looking »

Bruck's big Shake

31 August 2009 3:48 PM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Superproducer Jerry Bruckheimer has plenty of (Disney's) cash, and he clearly knows how to spend it. Screenwriter Derek Haas (co-writer of Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma) is probably happy for Bruck's willingness to depart with currency, since he recently collected seven figures for a project called Shake. Even more remarkable than the wow-worthy wage is how the project started: Haas tapped it out as a short story on his site Popcorn Fiction, a haven for writers to post pulpy short fiction. Don't... »

Jerry Bruckheimer Buys Online Short Story ‘Shake’ For Seven Figures

31 August 2009 11:31 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Jerry Bruckheimer has purchased the rights to Shake, a short story by Wanted co-writer Derek Haas. The short tale first appeared on Popcorn Fiction, a website created by Haas for screenwriters to show off short bites of hard-boiled fiction. The deal is reportedly in the seven-figure range, so what the hell is in there that makes Bruckheimer think it is worth a million-plus? THR reports the deal, but the real place to check out is the actual story on Popcorn Fiction. It's a very short deal that would likely be expanded to a first-act setup. Essentially, FBI agent Tim Cooper and his partner are in La to track down a thin lead pointing towards Trevor Stacks, a brutal and elusive serial killer that has been their target for years. Two things come to pass, however. One is the revelation (to us) that Cooper is beginning to suffer the effects of »

Jerry Bruckheimer Picks Up Derek Haas' Short Story 'Shake'

30 August 2009 10:15 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Jerry Bruckheimer has just bought the rights to a short story written by screenwriter Derek Haas called Shake. Haas will now expand the story into a feature screenplay. The deal was made for more than seven figures (holy sh*t!), which is a huge pay day for Haas. This all came together because Haas launched a site called PopcornFiction.com, which Bruckheimer visited, loved the story Haas wrote about an FBI agent who, while chasing a killer, begins to lose control of his own body, then bought the idea for a potential Disney production. Now that's a success story. You can still read the short story on the website for the time being. Derek Haas (left above), who often writes with fellow screenwriter Michael Brandt (right above), previously wrote 2 Fast 2 Furious, Catch That Kid, 3:10 to Yuma, Wanted, and its sequel, Wanted 2. He still writes with Brandt, but since »
