Knife Edge (2008) Movie Review

24 October 2009 8:03 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Knife Edge” sees the return to the horror genre of director Anthony Hickox, who back in the late 1980s and early 1990s turned out a string of popular, offbeat favourites including “Waxwork”, its sequel “Lost in Time”, and “Sundown: the Vampire in Retreat”, the latter two featuring the legendary Bruce Campbell. Although Hickox did have a stab at the relatively big time with “Hellraiser: Hell on Earth”, since then he had stuck mainly to television affairs and standard action films, such as the Eddie Griffin vehicle “Blast” and Steven Segal’s “Submerged”. With his being one of the more creative genre directors, who always managed to bring a certain sense of ghoulish fun to his productions, fans should certainly be glad to see him coming back to the fold, and although “Knife Edge” is not a particularly great film by his standards, it is still a cut above the usual direct to DVD drudgery. »

Undercover Brother Snorts Nose Candy

4 September 2009 12:56 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

I re-watched a little Undercover Brother yesterday. Alright, it.s not as funny as I remembered. Still, I say Eddie Griffin might have something. If not comedic chops, then perhaps the ability to shove copious amounts of blow up his distinguished nose. Moviehole says he.s signed up to co-star with Anthony Anderson in a new comedy called Nose Candy. As the title suggests, it's about blow. Anderson and Griffin play two idiots who stumble across a buddies stash. One of them gets so high that he calls the cops, forcing them to engage in hilarious antics in order to escape jail. It.s written and directed by Joseph Neibich whose only previous writer/director credit is on an as of yet unreleased Ocean Property. You.ll probably never see it in theaters, but you might see Nose Candy. Update! Earlier today we heard from Ann Flagella, president of »

Eddie Griffin Is Being Sued!

7 May 2009 1:03 AM, PDT | The Humor Mill | See recent The Humor Mill news »

Famed gossip website TMZ.com is reporting that comedian and actor Eddie Griffin is embroiled in a lawsuit in which he is accused of swindling one of the recipients of a career-building program for college graduates. According to the site, it all started with a $150,000 gift Griffin presented to the "Jamaica 360" program -- which sends 100 African American college grads on a career building vacation to Jamaica. The lawsuit, filed by a man who went on the trip, claims the check bounced.

The man, Samir Sayegh, claims he was then duped into lending Griffin his credit card to cover a hotel bill while they were in Jamaica -- but according to the suit, Griffin took the card and secretly made a $150,000 charge to the main developer of J-360. Two weeks later, Samir got a bill from American Express with the six-figure charge.

AmEx is now suing Samir for the $150,000 charge, and »

Griffin Sued Over Bounced Cheque

6 May 2009 5:15 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Comedian Eddie Griffin is at the centre of a new court case accusing him of failing to pay the donation he pledged to a U.S. charity.

In 2007, the actor gave $150,000 (£99,500) to the Jamaica 360 initiative, which sends African-American university graduates to the Caribbean to help further their careers.

But now one of the men who went on the trip, Samir Sayegh, has filed suit against the star, alleging Griffin's cheque bounced.

In addition, Sayegh claims that during his time in Jamaica, he was tricked into lending Griffin his credit card to pay for a hotel bill, according to papers obtained by TMZ.com.

He accuses Griffin of using the American Express card to rack up a $150,000 charge to the main developer of Jamaica 360.

Sayegh subsequently found himself being sued by the credit card company for the overdue payment - but now he is demanding Griffin and Jamaica 360 organisers pay off the fees, reports TMZ.com. »

Trailer for History Channel’s doc ‘How Bruce Lee Changed the World’

30 April 2009 7:55 PM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

To mark the 35th anniversary of the death of martial artist and film icon Bruce Lee History Channel will be airing a 2 hour documentary How Bruce Lee Changed the World. The doc will combine archival footage and in-depth interviews with actor Jackie Chan, comedian Eddie Griffin, rappers LL Cool J and RZA, Marvel Comics’ Stan Lee, and renowned film directors John Woo and Brett Ratner. Yeah, I also chortled at some of those interviewees but who is that handsome devil at the end of the trailer? Why that’s our friend Grady Hendrix from the sadly defunct Kaiju Shakedown. We miss you, Grady. Full press release and trailer after the jump.

The documentary will air on May 10th and the DVD release will follow on July 28th.
