- Built Grauman's Chinese Theatre at 6925 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, California. Ground breaking was on 5 January 1926. Opened 18 May 1927. The King of Kings (1927) was the first feature shown. Francis X. Bushman owned a ranch on the site, 1913-1915. It is now one of the ten most-visited places in Southern California.

- Grauman was a notorious practical joker. He once gave director Ernst Lubitsch a mild heart attack, when during a flight, two stuntmen dressed as pilots parachuted in full view from the aircraft he was travelling on. On another occasion (arranged by Charlie Chaplin and Grauman), producer Samuel Goldwyn was enticed on a romantic date in Central Park with a beautiful, 'rich but shy girl', who turned out to be Grauman in drag.
