- John Grant was born on December 27, 1891 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd (1952), Here Come the Co-eds (1945) and The Naughty Nineties (1945). He died on November 19, 1955 in Palm Desert, California, USA.
- A former newspaper reporter who eventually became a gag writer for many vaudeville comics, well known for his almost encyclopedic knowledge of comedy routines. He hooked up with comedians Bud Abbott and Lou Costello and became their (often uncredited) writer on almost all of their pictures.
- His two daughters, Lillian and Sarah Jane, were members of Billy Rose's Aquacade at the New York World's Fair.
