Matt Lucas chats to us about Little Britain, Doctor Who, hair, fandom and his new memoir...
Matt Lucas was on his way to Yeovil when we caught up with him for a chat. He’s been promoting his excellent memoir Little Me, and he spared us half an hour for a natter that covered Doctor Who, Little Britain, his book, grief, mental health, hair, a Twix bar in the fridge and Les Mis.

The chat went like this…
It’s a really good book you’ve written, appreciating that sounds like insincere waffle, but it’s genuinely true. My question whenever anyone has written such a personal book is why, and why now?
Two things.

The Office star is resurrecting his greatest creation for a film outing where he lives out his rock star dreams. But has Slough’s finest stood the test of time?

Sit down in front of Ricky Gervais and it’s sometimes hard to tell where he ends and David Brent begins. The Hollywood comic and one-time Suede manager doesn’t make any catastrophic motivational speeches or aggressively insist I join him in a dance-off, but every now and again there’s a hint of Slough’s most obliviously offensive middle manager. Gervais spends our entire interview with his feet up on a desk, his fingers occasionally making their way into a thoughtful templing, and at one point he very sincerely repeats a Tommy Smothers saying about offence: “He said the only valid form of censorship is someone’s right not to listen.

Tom Daley (above, right), a British diver, came in fourth place in the men's Synchronized 10m Platform on Monday (July 30) along with his partner Pete Waterfield (above, left). And a British teenager apparently did not take the loss very well.
According to the BBC, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in the Weymouth area (a seaside town located about 120 miles southwest of London) on "suspicion of malicious communications" after he tweeted to Daley that Daley had "let down his father" by finishing out of the medal contention.
Daley's father Robert died from brain cancer in May 2011.
Dorset police tell the BBC they were contacted by a member of the public, but did not confirm whether the arrest was specifically about that tweet or if it was subsequent Twitter conversations with other users. His account has since been suspended.
The teen later apologized to Daley, tweeting, "I'm sorry mate i just wanted...

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Or shall I compare thee to something what the cat just dragged in?
Forsooth! It's celebrity historical time again! And following the visits to Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria, The Doctor decides to go further back in time to meet William Shakespeare, with an awestruck Martha in tow.
You know the drill by now. Somehow the famous face from the past gets embroiled in a fiendish alien plot to either kill lots of people off and/or take over the world. Maybe that's one of the reasons why The Shakespeare Code feels rather stale and lifeless. Doctor Who doesn't really work when it follows a set pattern, and yet in the 21st century stories, the order of the first few stories normally goes something like this: Present day action adventure; Historical romp; futuristic wonder (feel free to switch the order at any...
