On day two of Stagecoach 2023, Kane Brown delivered one of the most candid moments at this year’s festival, opening up about his struggle with depression before performing his new track “Memory,” which features Blackbear.
Brown took the stage flanked with pyrotechnics and played a range of high-energy hits from “Famous Friends” to “One Mississippi.” Halfway through his set, the tempo slowed, and he spoke directly to the audience. “How many of you go through depression?” he asked. “Don’t be scared. How many of you? I go through it.

There's a list of parties kilometers long of every rinky-dink film looking for global distribution, money, or some form of attention in Cannes, but after the sun sets (and it gets cold here when that happens), these are the invites generating the most buzz. Similar to Sundance's famed party list created by Christopher Ryan, Filmtrack's Andrew Goldstein has been curating a constantly updating grid several pages long. There is no animosity between the two scene-steerers. They are friends. The past year has seen collectors and auction houses creating their own art market. They’re essentially bypassing dealers, galleries, and critics, identifying artists on their own, buying works by those artists cheaply in great numbers, then flipping them at vastly higher prices to a network of other like-minded speculator-collectors. Thus, we’ve seen the rise of artists in their early 20s, male painters mainly, about whom the sole topic of conversation and interest is profit margins. This annoying trend has been discussed in fits and starts — until this weekend, when the Artspace blog published Andrew Goldstein’s very long interview with the self-described “great collector” Stefan Simchowitz. (I’m one of his targets, though I don’t really care about that.) In 5,000 words, he manages to embody everything that's gross about this new breed. Call it the New Cynicism.Simchowitz is a Hollywood producer and the co-founder of MediaVast,...

On July 10, 2012, former WWE writer Andrew Goldstein put the current state of professional wrestling (which we all know means WWE) in perspective by writing an article entitled “I Can Finally See John Cena” (which I highly recommend reading before proceeding with this post). To quickly summarize, Goldstein pointed out that John Cena was basically the modern-day Bob Backlund, the one from the Late 70′s, not the crazy guy from 1994, in that despite being the top draw for the WWE in the last 10 years or so, Cena’s era wasn’t so much an “era” as it was a transitional period.
As was the case during Bob Backlund’s five year reign as WWF Champion. Backlund’s era bridged the gap between the golden age of Bruno Sammartino to the Hulkamania/Rock N’ Wrestling craze. The most interesting part of that article was that, at the time, Goldstein assumed that we...
