Juliette Lewis will star in "The Days of Mary", Brad Michael Gilbert's "contemporary re-imagining" of Federico Fellini’s 1957 classic "Nights of Cabiria" says THR
The story follows a prostitute looking for love in Rome but finding only heartache. Gilbert and Meg McGarry's script shifts the action to Reno, Nevada.
To non-European audiences, 'Cabiria' is probably best known for the Bob Fosse and Neil Simon musical (and later film adaptation) which spawned from it - "Sweet Charity".

• Arnold Schwarzenegger continues his streak of gritty action films, signing on to star in the thriller Ten, Open Road Films announced today. David Ayer (Street Kings, End of Watch) will direct the script by Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, A Good Day to Die Hard), which follows a team of crooked DEA agents who start getting mysteriously executed after a dirty drug raid. Schwarzenegger’s role in the film is unclear, but we’re guessing it’s light on introspective soliloquies.

Yikes. We almost got away scot-free with no word for quite some time on Precious director Lee Daniels‘ planned remake of Federico Fellini‘s 1957 classic Nights of Cabiria. An update on the film is back to the frontburner, but from a different group of filmmakers.
Variety reports that Constellation Entertainment, the group behind Sabrina and Francis Ford Coppola‘s The Rainmaker, are now set to remake the film, and they have their star. Juliette Lewis will step into the shoes of Giulietta Masina‘s iconic character in the film titled The Days of Mary. She’ll be directed by producer Brad Michael Gilbert, who last worked on the Liam Neeson bomb After.Life and will be making his feature debut here.
If one switches out Rome for Reno, you still have the basic plot of the original, with a bright-eyed prostitue exploring the night life of the city. Gilbert stated, “he...

So, you might remember that a couple of years ago it was revealed that "Precious" director Lee Daniels was attached to direct a remake of Federico Fellini's classic "Nights Of Cabiria." Well, thankfully, that never came to pass, but guess what, this car crash of a bad idea is still happening.
Let's just run this down in the easiest way possible: instead of Giulietta Masina? We're going to get Juliette Lewis. Instead of Fellini? How about Brad Michael Gilbert, the producer behind "The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond" and uh, "After.Life" that movie with Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci. Making his feature debut, no less. And instead of Nino Rota's masterful score? God knows, who they'll get to score this thing.
What else can we say about this? Oh, it's now going to be called "The Days Of Mary" which might be the most bland title to ever...

Plus Ryan Murphy will helm a gay classic, Federbear is hot in pink, the history of same-sex marriage acceptance, and Andy Whitfield in Time Crisis!
"Yeah, I know I'm hot."
At last year's U.S. Open I called out former tennis bad-boy now TV commentator Brad Gilbert for his idiotic ramblings about "fruity-looking clothes." Today I was enjoying the Toronto tournament on Espn 2 when Brad again became verklempt, this time because Roger Federbear had the audacity to wear a ... pink shirt. I guess Brad just can't handle confident men. Below you can see Ryan Murphy finally confirm that he is going to be helming the long-overdue big-screen adaptation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart (starring Mark Ruffalo.) What about directing Wicked? He remains cagey.
Papermag writes about the new play Veritas, which is about Harvard's secret gay witch hunt of 1920, which led to 2 suicides and 14 expulsions. Queers4Gears informs us that Victor Gonzalez Jr.
