Lionsgate+, formerly known as Starzplay, has set March 3 as the premiere date of its darkly comic original series ‘Nacho’ across all Latin America.
The news comes as Atresplayer Premium in Spain has announced that “Nacho” will bow on its service on March 5 as an Atresplayer Premium Original, in other words an exclusive in Spain on the adventurous service whose recent Originals include “Cardo,” produced by Los Javis.
Bowing its international trailer exclusively on Variety, the eight-episode series stars Martiño Rivas (“Cable Girls”) who plays the legendary Nacho Vidal whose notable physique makes him a star in Spain’s incipient porn industry in the ‘90s.
“Proving his talents reach far beyond his most infamous 25 cm [9.8 inches], Nacho changed the rules of the game in the 1990s when he became an international superstar,” the synopsis goes.

It follows an inquisitive millennial investigative reporter Antonia (Veki Velilla) who stumbles on a decades-old conspiracy: the existence of a cryogenically frozen super-agent, García (Francisco Ortiz), created in a laboratory in the 1950s by General Franco’s fascist secret services. Set to launch in Europe later this year, HBO Max has bolstered its originals pipeline with the announcement of “García!” a new series to be produced in Spain based on the popular graphic novel of the same name by authors Santiago García and Luis Bustos.
Miguel Salvat, Steve Matthews and Antony Root, the trio behind HBO España’s fan-favorite horror thriller “30 Coins” from Spanish maestro Alex de la Iglesia, are teaming once again as executive producers on the six-hour series.
“’García!’ is a project with enormous narrative and epic visual ambition. The tiniest details combine to become an action-packed adventure series, sometimes honoring the great genre traditions, but sometimes blowing them up. In ‘García!’ whilst we see a Spain that has changed somewhat in the last few decades, some elements remain the same,” said Salvat.

One of the Spanish-speaking world’s biggest sales forces, Film Factory Entertainment has swooped on sales rights to thriller “Two” (“Duo”), directed by Mar Targarona and the latest production from top Spanish genre auteur producer Rodar y Rodar.
Producer of two milestone titles of Spain’s genre auteur scene – J.A Bayona’s “The Orphanage” and Guillem Morales’ “Julia’s Eyes,” Targarona has built her own directorial career on suspense thrillers that prove unexpected and unpredictable in tone and resolution, such as 2016’s “Boy Missing” and “The Photographer of Mauthausen” – part true-events inspired record, part edge-of-set entertainment – in particular drawing strong notices. “Two” looks no exception. Its singular premise sees two strangers, a man and a woman in their 30s, wake up in an unknown place, naked and glued to each other by their stomachs. They struggle to understand how and why they got there – becoming increasingly terrified as they discover clues and the truth emerges.

On the Road movie reedited for Toronto screening Based on Jack Kerouac's '50s novel, Walter Salles' Otr adaptation starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart (above photo) will be screened at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. We all knew that. What we didn't know is that Tiff 2012 will unveil a new cut of the film (via indieWIRE), which premiered last spring at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. The 2hr20m drama has been downsized to approximately 125 minutes. That's an interesting development, as Otr has already been screened in several countries, with varying degrees of box-office success. [Check out the On the Road trailer. Check out Kristen Stewart On the Road poster; Garrett Hedlund On the Road poster.] Otr movie reedit hardly unique On the other hand, different cuts shown in different countries is hardly something new. Whether as a result of poor critical/box-office reception, (perceived) local sensibilities, and/or censorship, the movie you watch in, say, Canada isn't necessarily the exact same movie watched by someone in Singapore,...

Fans may have gotten all in a tizzy over Kristen Stewart's recent real-life indiscretions, but Robert Pattinson hasn't exactly been the most faithful soul either, at least cinematically.
R.Pattz has more than a few notches on his belt on the big screen, including "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" and his new head trip "Cosmopolis," and we're going to count every single salacious piece of tail this sparkly vampire has sunk his teeth, among other things, into.
'Vanity Fair' (2004)
Character: Rawdy Crawley
Number of Conquests: 0
Although his scenes were deleted and only available as an alternate ending on the DVD, this film is notable for being Pattinson's first major appearance and his first role alongside Reese Witherspoon. He briefly plays the son of her literary heroine Becky Sharp, a pairing that would come back to haunt him later in his career.

Movies don’t get much cultier than Carlos Atanes‘ post-apocalyptic S&M musical. Filmed in a dirty warehouse filling in for the edge of the universe just as said universe is about to fall into a massive black hole, Maximum Shame plays out like an oblique chess match with a demented black leather clad Queen (the phenomenal Marina Gatell) forcing the other players to sit in barbed wire cardboard boxes and shovel pounds of spaghetti into their mouths. A trio of distinctly different films have been released on DVD:
Maximum Shame, dir. Carlos Atanes
Spain’s underground king of surrealism, Carlos Atanes, presents his densest, loopiest nightmare yet, Maximum Shame, a confounding puzzle of an enigma wrapped in video.
Atanes whisks viewers through a black hole that is swallowing the universe to a fetid cesspool ruled by a deranged, black leather clad queen who torments anyone unlucky enough to fall into her realm.
Maximum Shane is a cross between Alice in Wonderland and an S&M video, featuring a tour de force performance by Marina Gatell as the black queen.

Post-apocalyptic films are, of course, typically allegories for life in our modern world or specific historical eras. However, Spanish underground filmmaker Carlos Atanes has stuffed the allegorical envelope so full that very little in his down-the-rabbit-hole fantasy Maximum Shame remotely resembles anything that could be considered reality.
Atanes’ “wonderland” is a massive, garbage-strewn, sewer water-soaked abandoned warehouse that is presided over by a black leather-clad, roller skate-wearing Queen, played with total sadistic glee by Marina Gatell. The world, apparently, has fallen into a black hole and this hellish place is all that exists anymore.
The Queen humiliates her subjects by trussing them up in S&M gear. Although these devices are not used for sexual purposes. Instead, her subjects are simply robbed of the ability to speak or eat. Thus, they are rendered as mute imbeciles, forced to listen to her megalomaniacal ranting.

In the age of Jazz and surrealism, anyone visiting an elite university residence in Madrid, Spain would find the odd and competitive—both in art or otherwise—friendship between three young prodigies: painter Salvador Dali, filmmaker Luis Bunuel and dramatist/poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Their work proved to outlast the three friends by decades, but Little Ashes is more interested in the strokes of their hips than their pen or brush.
Made before Twilight but released theatrically only last year (and on DVD now), Little Ashes is not exactly the Robert Pattinson-as-Salvador Dali biopic his fans might like to see. He is, in fact, only one part of a love triangle, and not even the one in center. Javier Beltran, the only actual Spaniard of the three, plays the poet Garcia Lorca, who takes that honor.

Little Ashes, which has been met with heavy anticipation from fans of its star Robert Pattinson (also star of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and How To Be), opens in theatres across the United States today. The film, which is expected to fare quite nicely this weekend, highlights a specific time in the life of Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali (played by Pattinson) in which he meets and becomes conflicted over his love for Federico Garcia Lorca (played by Javier Beltran). The film also stars Matthew McNulty and Marina Gatell ... Says director Paul Morrison about Little Ashes, “the good thing about [it] is that it doesn’t attempt to be a biopic. It doesn’t try to tell the whole story, it just explores one seminal moment. Really, it’s a love story, and that’s what gives it power.” Says producer Carlo Dusi...

“We made it in the spirit of . . . just need[ing] to make this film, it’s crying out to be done, without expectations of what will happen to it,” says Paul Morrison, director of Little Ashes about his film. “But I’ve been around long enough to know it’s when you least expect it that good things can happen.” Little Ashes (which will be released this Friday, May 8, in the United States) has been met with great anticipation. Starring (The Twilight Saga: New Moon and How To Be star) Robert Pattinson, Javier Beltran, Matthew McNulty, and Marina Gatell, and produced by Carlo Dusi, the film will present an ephemeral biopic of the life of Salvador Dali – a Spanish artist whose art, some say, is impossibly well done.
