Days Gone is an underrated gem for the PlayStation platform and Sony is probably making a big mistake by walking away from it and mandating its developers to work on something else instead. Even the fans are upset but details about the new project will add fuel to the fire.
Jeff Ross, a co-director of the 2019 zombie video game revealed that the company has invested a significant amount of money on a new project that has less of a chance to be well-received compared to a highly-demanded sequel which can be a massive slap to the fans of the franchise.

The recent State of Play has kicked the hornet’s nest and there are still some optimistic fans out there hoping for a sequel. Ross has some strong words about the present leadership that would cast doubt on his vision to be fully realized and be left in the basement of Sony forever.

Days Gone is an underrated PlayStation first-party title developed by Bend Studio. The developers received unfair treatment from the publisher after the project was released at an unstable rate which affected review scores but the gaming community saw the potential.
It isn’t too late to give it a massive visual and performance boost. Sony may have pulled the plug on the highly-demanded sequel but there is always room for improvement even if it was ported to PC. Some fans gave the game a significant overhaul that could make Sony reconsider.

Days Gone was an ambitious zombie horror survival game from Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was initially released as a PlayStation exclusive until it got ported to PC. The scope and scale of the game were quite large by today’s standards, and director John Garvin’s work speaks for itself.
As part of the PlayStation Studios banner, other creatives from different studios can pitch in for an assist, but Garvin clarified that every narrative decision was made by him and him alone.
Days Gone Director Claims He Wrote the Entire Script Alone
Studio Bend had plans for a Days Gone sequel, but it was canceled by Sony in favor of a brand-new IP with a live-service structure.
John Garvin is back at it again, as he expressed his massive disappointment with how his game turned out to be and hinted at how he believed Sony viewed Days Gone in general.

Days Gone was an underrated PlayStation gem that was released in an underwhelming state back in 2019 but Bend Studio was able to bounce back and got the game to run smoothly on both PS4 and PS5 and eventually on PC.
However, initial reviews affected Sony’s judgment and canceled any future installments leaving fans with the ultimate cliffhanger.
John Garvin Strikes Back About The Canceled Days Gone Sequel
Bend Studio had plans for a Days Gone 2 but PlayStation isn’t interested at all.
In a recent post on X, director John Garvin dropped his two cents and shared his opinion of how he thinks Sony viewed his game. Truth be told, Days Gone had plenty of issues, especially on a technical aspect but was remedied with a series of patches and updates and can be easily forgiven thanks to its riveting storyline and entertaining gameplay.

Recently, developer Insomniac Games was targeted by a hacking group that stole over 1 TB of internal data from the company and reportedly demanded around $2 million dollars for that information’s return. When that demand was not met, the group released the stolen data (which consisted of over 1.3 million files) online.
This is one of the largest leaks in the history of the video game industry in terms of both the quantity of leaked data and what, exactly, was included in those files. The leaked information includes everything from Insomniac’s upcoming intended release schedule for the next several years to the complete story breakdown for their upcoming Wolverine project. Crucially, the leak also includes the personal information of numerous Insomniac employees. As this leak extends far beyond things like game development footage and story spoilers, we will not be sharing the full contents of the leak here.

The timeline for a successful video game franchise usually goes like this: The game comes out and soon becomes popular among players. Avid fans start creating content inspired by the game and their favorite characters, helping bring that IP into pop culture. There might be a movie or TV adaptation. And as more people are introduced to the game’s world, more fans are created, leading to more demand for derivative content. Et cetera, et cetera.
But the leaders at Liithos, a multimedia gaming studio led by former PlayStation executives, are about to do things a little differently with their first studio IP, Ashfall, which is set in a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest ravaged by climate change, civilian fighting and mutations caused by a dark energy. The series follows Ash Naranjo, a character who was born without arms and is given cyborg-like implants to help him save his family and homeland.

Director James Cameron and costume designer Deborah Lynn Scott first worked together 25 years ago on “Titanic,” which went on to win 11 Oscars including best picture, director and costume design. Since then, the two have collaborated on “Avatar” and its long-awaited sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water,” and will continue their partnership with the next films in the franchise.
Below, for Variety‘s latest Creative Collaborators, Cameron and Scott discuss their working relationship and pouring hundreds of hours into building the costumes for “Avatar 2.”
Take us back to that first collaboration on “Titanic.” What was that like?
Deborah Lynn Scott: James used that hat very well. That day on set, we had never checked if the hat could fit through the car door, so, we were a little nervous. And he did that wonderful dip down and reveal which is a costume designer’s dream.

Conveying somber inner struggles and the intense threat of zombie-esque creatures known as Freakers in the same score is no easy task, but composer Nathan Whitehead is up to the challenge with his emotional music for Days Gone. With the open-world post-apocalyptic video game out now for the PlayStation 4, we caught up with Whitehead for our latest Q&A feature to discuss the eclectic instruments he used for the Days Gone score, using music to enhance the internal struggles of the game's main character and the external threats in equal measure, and his work on The Purge films (including how his music for The Purge: Anarchy helped him get the composer gig for Days Gone).
Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us, Nathan, and congratulations on your score for Days Gone. How did you get involved as the composer for Days Gone?
Nathan Whitehead: Thanks very much!

The new 3D thriller 'Sanctum' has been gifted with a brand spanking new one-sheet for all to enjoy. The flick is executively produced by James Cameron and therefore 'must' splash his two previous blockbusting credits on the poster. 'Titanic' and sci-fi actioner 'Avatar', which did the incredible thing of making 'Titanic' suddenly seem bearable, are nicely highlighted to help entice unsuspecting audiences to mindlessly wander into their local multiplex expecting spectacle and little substance. But let's hope director Alister Grierson and scripters Andrew Wight and John Garvin (who also stars) can bring a little more to the underwater table. 'Fantastic Four' star Ioan Gruffudd appears alongside Richard Roxburgh ('Van Helsing'), Alice Parkinson (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Rhys Wakefield, Dan Wyllie, Allison Cratchley, Christopher Baker and John Garvin. Check out the poster below....
