The circus was back in town as the who's who of the Australian film industry gathered last night for the 2009 Kodak Inside Film Awards, returning to Sydney after a number of arguably unsuccessful years of staging the event on the Gold Coast. Competing against Balibo and Cedar Boys in the Best Film category, Samson And Delilah triumphed once again after also picking up the Best Director, Best Music, Best Script and the two Best Acting nods for Marissa Gibson and Rowan McNamara. Hosted by comedian Eddie Perfect, the 11th If Awards saw an impressive list of presenters this year, including Kirk Pengilly, Peter O'Brien, Jacqueline McKenzie, Megan Gale, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Filmink friends Sam Worthington and Scott Hicks. »

"Aussie actors take fifteen hours to get to America - we ain' t going to waste our fucking time and money. And that means we're not going to waste their time." He might be firing up big time overseas with leading roles in mega-budgeted films like Terminator Salvation, the highly anticipated Avatar and the upcoming Clash Of The Titans remake, but Sam Worthington obviously still has a hearty interest in the local film industry. The star of such Aussie flicks as Dirty Deeds, Somersault and Gettin' Square has just been announced as one of the presenters at this year's Inside Film Awards on November 18, alongside fellow thesps Emily Barclay, Aden Young, Gyton Grantley, Emma Booth, Justine Clarke and Megan Gale. »

A Warner Bros strategy for getting DC Comics heroes on to the big screen could finally be taking shape.
The news comes as The Times-Picayune revealed that production for the Green Lantern film is moving to New Orleans, which I reported on yesterday.
But the hidden gem was when the site added: "Green Lantern is expected to be the first in a trilogy of films focusing on DC's Justice League heroes - the others being The Flash and Wonder Woman - before uniting all three with fellow League members Batman, Superman and Aquaman for a Justice League movie."
Could it be that Warner Bros' new DC Entertainment unit, tasked with adapting comic book heroes into other media, is at last putting together a masterplan?
It's interesting to note that the previously-shelved Justice League: Mortal movie is now listed on Internet Movie Database as being in development and set for release »

When it comes to who they'd like to see as Wonder Woman, the fans have spoken. In one of the most voted-on, yet lop-sided weekly polls we've ever conducted here on Splash Page, "Legend of the Seeker" actress Bridget Regan was voted fans' favored lady to bring DC's iconic Amazon warrior, Wonder Woman, to the big screen.
Regan netted just over 62 percent of the total vote, while runner-up Megan Gale (who was previously cast as Wonder Woman in George Miller's stalled live-action "Justice League" movie) received 15 percent of the total votes. The rest of the pool of potential Wonder Women, which included Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Biel and Megan Fox, only garnered between 1-5 percent of the total votes each.
However, there was a massive level of support for a few ladies in our write-in section, with Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls and "Firefly" actress Morena Baccarin each »

Yesterday, Jennifer Love Hewitt made her case for playing Wonder Woman. In the time since that story hit the 'Net, it's been one of the most-discussed items to appear on Splash Page lately.
While readers here and elsewhere around the InterWebs have come out of the woodwork to support or condemn the "Ghost Whisperer" actress' plea to play DC's most popular heroine, many have pointed out that Hewitt is just one of many actresses whose names have been connected to the Wonder Woman role at one point or another, whether in rumors, passing mention or serious consideration.
Along with well-known celebrities like Jessica Biel and Beyonce Knowles taking a shine to the character, there have also been lesser-known actresses whose names have been thrown around, including Bridget Regan ("Legend of the Seeker") and Megan Gale, who was rumored to have the part in George Miller's now-stalled "Justice League" film. »

The Hollywood ladies all want to be Wonder Woman.
Even though a live-action take on the tiara-wearing, gold-bracelet-sporting, Amazonian superhero has been stuck in development hell for years, a wide swath of actresses has been itching to don that star-spangled suit and bring Wonder Woman back into the pop-culture mainstream.
Beyoncé has said she'd like a shot. Vanessa Hudgens wants a go. Keri Russell actually portrayed Wonder Woman, albeit in voice only for an animated DVD. Jessica Biel hasn't ruled out taking the part. Meanwhile, Megan Fox has been outspoken in her criticism of the character. And then there's talk of supermodel Megan Gale and "Legend of the Seeker" star Bridget Regan.

Jessica Biel is in talks to play the love interest in Kenneth Branagh's Thor movie, it's being claimed.
Biel, 27, whose film credits include co-starring with Edward Norton in 2006's The Illusionist, is to play a female character who is also in the Hulk vs Thor DVD movie, according to NukeTheFridge.
This would narrow the role down to Amora the Enchantress or Sif, both of which are in that animated feature.
Sif is a goddess who is the wife of Thor in the original Norse mythology and a warrior who is his lover in Marvel's Thor comic book.
Amora is an original creation of the Thor comics. She is a sorceress and femme fatale who wants to make Thor fall in love with her, often colluding with the trickster god Loki.
In the Hulk vs Thor animated film, Amora is angry at Thor for rejecting her for Sif and aids »

Could Bridget Regan be the next Wonder Woman in the proposed new movie from Warner Bros?
Hundreds of people already think so, according to an online campaign.
A petition, signed by 456 people so far, says Regan is the perfect choice and deserves an audition for the role of the Amazon princess.
The petition states: "We strongly believe Bridget Regan would be the ideal candidate to play Wonder Woman in an upcoming film adaptation.
"Bridget is a very talented and well-rounded actress best known for her role on the TV series Legend of the Seeker.
"We feel that she has all the right qualities to give justice to the character of Wonder Woman."
The petition concludes: "All we are asking is to at least give Bridget Regan a screen test to see if she fits the necessary requirements to fulfill the role of Wonder Woman. We hope that you consider our »

Actress Jessica Biel has said she would be interested in playing Wonder Woman in the new movie in development at Warner Bros.
Back in September, 2007, the 27-year-old turned down the chance to play the warrior princess in the George Miller-directed team-up movie Justice League Mortal.
Kate Beckinsale was also said to have passed on the role. Eventually, Australian supermodel Megan Gale was cast.
That film, now on ice, would have featured Wonder Woman in a league of superheroes alongside Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.
A solo movie is also in the pipeline - and has been for many years. Joss Whedon was at one point attached as writer and director.
Biel, who at 5ft 7½in has a suitable height for the Amazon role, told MTV she was still interested in playing the character: "If Wonder Woman had the right script and it was really powerful and emotional and interesting, »

It Wasn't that long ago that Megan Fox was featured on a website promoting herself for the role of Wonder Woman in the planned movie.
But now she has changed her tune over wanting the part. In an interview in FHM Magazine, she had this to say about Wonder Woman: "She's lame. She flies around in an invisible jet, but she's not invisible. I don't get it."
It may well be true that Wonder Woman would herself be perfectly visible when zooming across the sky in her unseen plane. But Fox's comments would kill off any hope she had of playing the role.
Aussie supermodel Megan Gale had been due to play the bullet-deflecting amazon princess in the shelved Justice League team-up movie, while Keri Russell voices the role in the animated movie released on DVD earlier this year.

Chuck ended its second season on NBC with a bang this Monday, with a big finale in which Chuck uttered the words "I know kung fu." Unfortunately low ratings means one of the most fun shows on television may not have a future, but it's good to know that if it's run ends hear, Chuck's stars won't be hitting the unemployment line. Moviehole reports that Yvonne Strahovski, the Australian actress who plays Sarah Walker on the show, has been cast as one of the leads in I Love You Too. Created by humorist Peter Helliar, the rom-com tells the story of two guys on a quest to win over the women they love. Brendan Cowell and the always underrated Peter Dinklage play the film's leads, with Yvonne and model Megan Gale filling out the rest of the cast. »
