Dana White was not always the CEO and president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He started running boxercise gyms in Boston with Golden Gloves champion Peter Welch. He moved to Las Vegas in the 1990s. In addition to running boxercise gyms, he also began training jiu-jitsu under the tutorship of John Lewis.
When White found out that the owner of the former parent company which owned UFC was interested in selling the company, he convinced Lorenzo Fertitta and his brother to invest in the company. In 2001, the former manager of mixed martial artists Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell became the president of UFC.
White started to build UFC from scratch and made it one of the highest-grossing businesses. Besides playing a major role in shaping the world of mixed martial arts, he is also known for his extravagant lifestyle.

In a case of mistaken identity, the world’s deadliest assassin, known as the Man from Toronto, and a New York City screw-up are forced to team up after being confused for each other at an Airbnb.
In one of the first scenes in Patrick Hughes‘ new film The Man From Toronto, we watch as Kevin Hart‘s character Teddy Jackson try his best to make some inspirational YouTube videos. He is shown to not succeed at helping anyone at all and is essentially seen as a loser in the film. He is the butt of the joke, quite literally, because the residents of his hometown of Yorktown, Virginia, coin the phrase “Teddyed,” which basically means that somebody messed up.

In Patrick Hughes’ “The Man from Toronto,” a throwback buddy action-comedy that offsets its run-of-the-mill sense of humor with a pair of appealing leads, everything about the lovable Teddy Jackson (Kevin Hart) screams screw-up from the get-go.
A soon-to-be-jobless salesperson at a modest Virginia gym, Teddy is introduced via a series of hysterically cringe-y online videos in which he stubbornly tries to launch the next big workout sensation. But his elastic resistance belt TeddyBand — one of his painfully inane inventions — does nothing other than slap him in the face. The dodgy pull-up bar he’s designed? It promptly collapses. In fact, this wannabe internet sensation is so famously a failure in his pursuits that his saintly wife Lori’s (Jasmine Matthews) law-firm colleagues have coined the saying “Teddy’ed it” after him, a phrase used whenever someone messes up at work.
What do you get when someone so inept gets...

The wrong AirBnB can make all the difference — especially when it leads to a deadly case of mistaken identity.
Kevin Hart stars as a bumbling sales consultant who checks into the wrong holiday rental cabin in Netflix’s comedy of errors “The Man from Toronto.” When Hart walks in on a torture chamber, he quickly has to pretend to be the eponymous assassin from Toronto to save his own life. Yet the CIA wants him to stay undercover to help them find the real Man from Toronto, who is none other than Woody Harrelson.
The buddy comedy continues as Harrelson trains Hart to be him, and Hart has to decide whether or not to turn the Man from Toronto in to the feds. “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” director Patrick Hughes helms the Netflix film, streaming June 24.
Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Lela Loren, Pierson Fodé, Jencarlos Canela, and Ellen Barkin also star in the action-comedy.

Netflix has picked up the worldwide rights, excluding China, to Sony’s action comedy “The Man From Toronto,” moving it from theatrical release to streaming as part of the first-look deal between the two studios.
The film stars Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson in a mix-up comedy in which a New York City screw-up is mistaken for the world’s deadliest assassin at an Airbnb rental apartment. It had previously been scheduled for theatrical release on August 12.
Patrick Hughes (“The Hitman’s Bodyguard”) directed the film from a screenplay by Robbie Fox and Chris Bremner. Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Lela Loren, Pierson Fode, Jencarlos Canela and Ellen Barkin also star with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch producing. Bill Bannerman, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth are executive producers.
As the sole major studio in Hollywood without an in-house streaming service, Sony signed a first-look deal in April 2021 making Netflix its main streaming partner.

Netflix has acquired worldwide rights to Sony Pictures’ action-comedy The Man from Toronto, starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, Deadline can confirm. The film previously scheduled for release in theaters on August 12 will now bow on the streamer in all territories apart from China (where Sony continues to control all rights) later this year. Sony will also retain home entertainment and linear TV windows.
The Man from Toronto watches as the world’s deadliest assassin (Harrelson) and New York’s biggest screw-up, Teddy (Hart), are mistaken for one another at an Airbnb rental. The acquisition stems from the deal Sony entered into with Netflix last year, which has given the streamer first-look at its direct-to-streaming movies. Also factoring into the calculus for the move was Netflix’s mega deal and relationship with Hart.
3000 Pictures’ Lady Chatterley’s Lover, starring Emma Corrin, Jack O’Connell and Matthew Duckett, was the first film announced under the Sony-Netflix first-look partnership,...

Disney and Lucasfilm have been adamant that everything in the Star Wars universe is directly connected to the Skywalker family in some fashion, even when J.J. Abrams’ Episode IX presented the perfect opportunity to leave the franchise’s premiere dynasty in the past and move forward.
For a while, it looked as though The Mandalorian would stand on its own merits as an adventure that took place in a familiar universe but told a brand new story, before “The Jedi” placed Baby Yoda at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant when Order 66 was executed, putting him in the orbit of the Skywalkers. The season 2 finale then doubled down in a big way as Luke made a shocking return, and walked away with Grogu in his arms.

William Blinn, the screenwriter for Prince’s Purple Rain and creator of Starsky & Hutch, has died at age 83. He passed Thursday of natural causes at an assisted living community in Burbank, according to his daughter, Anneliese Johnson.
“If you were an aspiring writer in the 70’s & 80’s, like I was, Bill’s work defined what it was to write powerful, impactful, game-changing drama,” said friend and fellow screenwriter Robbie Fox.
During a four-decade career as a writer, producer and drama specialist, Blinn wrote for Bonanza, developed Eight Is Enough, and created The Interns, The Rookies and Pensacola: Wings of Gold.
Blinn co-wrote Purple Rain with director Albert Magnoli. He was offered the 1984 film thanks to his work as a writer and executive producer on Fame, which extensively integrated music into the show.

In odd replacement news, Woody Harrelson has replaced Jason Statham on the upcoming action-comedy ‘The Man From Toronto’.
Harrelson joins Kevin Hart on the production which is due to start shooting in 6 weeks.
It’s reported Statham turned his back on the picture when Sony refused to make the feature an R-rated comedy which was part of his terms to sign on the dotted line. Sony would rather push for a more generic pic that could stretch over a number of sequels.
Statham who has a talent for turning his action chops into humour had previously starred with Hart in the Fast and Furious spin-off, ‘Hobbs and Shaw’.

Woody Harrelson is set to replace Jason Statham in Sony’s “The Man From Toronto,” joining Kevin Hart in the action-comedy, sources confirmed to Variety.
Statham was in talks to star opposite Hart, but abruptly backed out a week ago over creative differences, and Sony scrambled to find a new actor. Sony’s pairing with Harrelson makes sense, due to the actor’s long-standing relationship with the studio. Harrelson is not only the star of Sony’s “Zombieland” series, with the sequel bowing last October, but also recently wrapped his role as the villain Carnage in “Venom 2” opposite Tom Hardy.

Exclusive Update: Busy night for Jason Statham. He just parted company with Wme, the agency that signed him away from CAA early last year. Trying to get to the bottom of this, but it happened right on the heels of Statham exiting the Sony Pictures comedy The Man From Toronto, weeks before the film started production. Unclear if he will move quickly to another agency, but he will surely be courted after landing hits in Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and the prehistoric shark hit Meg.

Henry Cavill, core Justice League member and arguably one of the greatest on-screen superheroes to date, is ostensibly finished with Superman.
That’s the news that threatened to bring the Internet to a standstill earlier this morning, when The Hollywood Reporter dropped the bombshell that Cavill is no longer attached to the Man of Steel, leading Warner Bros. to fast-track its Supergirl origin movie all the while keeping a close eye on Michael B. Gabriele Muccino, known predominantly for his 2006 feature The Pursuit of Happyness, returns with Playing for Keeps, a picture that has that early 1990′s feel to it, but not in a good way.
Unsurprisingly, writer Robbie Fox last wrote a screenplay in 1993 with So I Married an Axe Murderer, and it really shows. Sometimes films don’t look too promising from the outset, but then proceed to pleasantly surprise you. Unfortunately on this occasion, this one is as bad as it looks.
Gerard Butler plays George Dryer, a former professional footballer who had once played for Liverpool, before moving to the Mls where he suffered a career ending injury. Now washed up and in need of some quick cash, he attempts to turn his life around and begins by reconnecting with his son Lewis (Noah Lomax), and ex-wife Stacie (Jessica Biel), who, much to George’s displeasure, is soon to remarry.

Chicago – When will the movie universe stop lionizing the upper middle class and their “problems” as a standard for storytelling? The idiotic crawl of “Playing for Keeps” is a prime example of that style, a sad exercise in contradictions that pass for narrative. Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Dennis Quaid and Catherine Zeta-Jones get punked by the script.

The four actors listed above have been stellar in other films, Jones even having an Oscar on her mantle. They are all getting a bit older, perhaps having issues with getting the right scripts in their agent’s hands. But man, there was nothing on the written page in this movie, unless it was radically changed during production, that would have a sensible and bankable actor give it a whirl. In what could have been the exploration of some current family issues involving divorce, custody and forgiveness, devolves into Gerard Butler getting...

Gerard Butler stars in Gabriele Muccino’s romantic comedy as a former international pro soccer player who retires and moves to Virginia to rekindle his relationship with his son and ex-wife, Stacie (starring Jessica Biel). Although he hopes to start a new career as a sportscaster, Butler finds himself coaching for his son’s soccer team instead. Unexpectedly, he experiences a slew of soccer moms, played by Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Judy Greer, who can’t keep their hands off him. The film, written by Robbie Fox, doesn’t quite make its goal as the weekend’s must-see flick as critics describe the

-- This is supposed to be the time of year when high-quality movies come out, whether they're potential Oscar contenders or crowd-pleasing family fare.
So the presence of flat, hacky, unfunny dreck like "Playing for Keeps" – the kind of film that ordinarily tries to fly under the radar in January or February but would be torture to sit through in any month – is a total mystery.
It is truly baffling that all the talented, acclaimed actors involved actually read this script and then agreed to devote their time to this movie, especially given its uncomfortably flagrant misogynistic streak. Judy Greer, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Uma Thurman couldn't possibly need work this badly. And yet, here they are as soccer moms shamelessly throwing themselves at Gerard Butler and his tousled, manly mane.

The upcoming romantic comedy Playing for Keeps may not look particularly enticing, but keep in mind that it’s written by Robbie Fox, who gave us the clever script for So I Married an Axe Murderer about 20 years ago. Of course, he followed that with a story credit on the Pauly Shore vehicle In the Army Now (which was rewritten) before disappearing for two decades — I’m only aware of one spec script he sold in 1999 for a time travel-based divorce comedy titled Twice Upon a Time, which has never been produced. He’s also done some uncredited work through his career, including rewrites on My Girl, but for the most part his output is unknown and inconsistent. Still, I thought it would be fun to go back to the beginning of his career and watch 25-year-old short film titled The Great O’Grady. Fox directed the 30-minute film in addition to scripting, and...
