Brainstorm Media has nabbed the U.S. rights to the comedy I’ll Be Right There, which reteams Edie Falco with Nurse Jackie helmer Brendan Walsh.
The indie also stars Jeannie Berlin, Charlie Tahan, Kayli Carter, Michael Rapaport, Michael Beach, Sepideh Moafi and Bradley Whitford. Brainstorm Media plans a fall 2024 theatrical release.
I’ll Be Right There, based on a script by Jim Beggarly, has Falco playing Wanda, who has to juggle her pregnant daughter’s wedding plans, her mother’s health concerns, a wayward son and her own romantic dilemmas. As she navigates those challenges, Wanda discovers taking care of everyone leaves little time for herself, even if she has little idea what she’d do if not tending to the needs of others.

A Nurse Jackie sequel series, originally set at Showtime, is now in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with Edie Falco set to star, Deadline has confirmed.
As we previously reported in 2023, the potential sequel series from Lionsgate Television, producer of the original series, was in development at Showtime. Showtime‘s linear network, which launched more than four decades ago during the early days of cable, was officially rebranded and relaunched in a package with Paramount+ in January.
Per the logline: “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”

Jamie-Lynn Sigler says she was told not to disclose her multiple sclerosis diagnosis on The Sopranos by the set physician.
While appearing on Sophia Bush’s podcast Work in Progress, the actress shared that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 20-years-old, a year after receiving a Lyme disease diagnosis.
Shortly after being told she had Ms, she had her cast physical and told the physician about her latest health update. “He’s like, ‘Uh yeah, I don’t think you should tell anybody about that and I’m not going to put this down [on your medical records],'” Sigler recalled.
“I just followed his advice because I also wasn’t that symptomatic at the time so it wasn’t something that I thought about, or that I had to think about all the time,” she explained. Sigler then confirmed she initially “told no one, absolutely no one” on the set about her Ms diagnosis.

James Gandolfini’s The Sopranos is often regarded as among the best TV shows ever made. The show chronicling the life and criminal career of Tony Soprano enthralled fans with its first few seasons. For six seasons, they were stuck to their TV every week waiting for new episodes to air. Gandolfini’s influential career-defining performance as Tony Soprano won him multiple Emmys.

Despite the high reputation of the series, the series finale that featured the infamous cut-to-black sequence at the end divided fans. Additionally, Edie Falco who played Carmela Soprano teased that she and Gandolfini shot a Soprano-themed ad to help lure LeBron James to join the New York Knicks. The long-rumored footage has now made its way online and it is interesting, to say the least.

The Sopranos had one of the most talked-about endings of all time when the series finale ended mid-scene and fans would form closure through their own theories. The show would go down as one of HBO’s best originals, and while the Emmy-winning series officially came to a close in 2007, it was revealed that there was lost footage of James Gandolfini and Edie Falco reprising their roles as Tony and Carmela Soprano as the couple would try to convince LeBron James to come to the New York Knicks in 2010. The existence of the private video was revealed a few years ago in the docu-series podcast Shattered: Hope, Heartbreak and the New York Knicks.

Michael Imperioli gained immense stardom after starring as Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos. He played the immature cousin and protégé to James Gandolfini’s lead Tony Soprano in the series and gained a massive fan following. Surprisingly, Imperioli was almost fired from the show after he hid a vital piece of information in his audition and caused an accident on set.

Besides being the hot-headed cousin to Tony Soprano, Moltisanti also occasionally acted as the driver to him. However, Michael Imperioli did not reveal at first that he could not drive and crashed a car with him and James Gandolfini inside. While Imperioli was sure he was going to get fired from the show, Gandolfini responded with a surprising response.

“The Sopranos” fans got thrown a curveball in 2021 when Edie Falco revealed for the first time on an Atlantic podcast that she once reunited with James Gandolfini to reprise Tony and Carmela Soprano for a bizarre clip set two years after the events of the series finale, which infamously ended with a cut-to-black that left Tony’s fate in the balance. The purpose of the clip was to help the New York Knicks basketball organization lure LeBron James to the team.
Gandolfini and Falco shot the “Sopranos” reunion in 2010 as James was becoming a free agent after his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers expired. All of the top teams in the NBA wanted James, and the Knicks came up with the idea to make a short film with “The Sopranos” stars to help sell James on the Big Apple. A long-rumored video of James Gandolfini reprising his Emmy-winning role of Tony Soprano has been unearthed.
The footage (below) has Gandolfini and his co-star Edie Falco back in their roles as The Sopranos power couple Tony and Carmela.
The clip was privately produced in 2010 — three years after the HBO drama’s finale — in an effort to lure LeBron James to the New York Knicks.
The scene takes place “Two Years Later,” following the end of the show. “Yeah, life’s good here Carm, even if we are in the witness protection program,” Tony says to his wife. Then, they discussed the possibility of James moving to New York and finding him the perfect home: Madison Square Garden. The video was obtained by former ESPN host Pablo Torre and aired on his Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast. The scene starts at the 9:30-minute mark.

Animal Planet’s classic hit Meerkat Manor is getting the animated treatment from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
In early development, the feature will be produced by Seth Green and Tracy Falco via the duo’s The Green Room production banner, the studio announced Tuesday.
The original producer of the show, Caroline Hawkins and Clare Birks of Oxford Scientific, will executive produce.
Airing on Warners-owned Animal Planet from 2005 to 2008, the show centered on the exploits of a family of meerkats dubbed The Whiskers living in South Africa’s Kalahari Desert. The show became a worldwide hit, garnering Emmy nominations and at one point was Animal Planet’s most watched show.
Warners plans to produce the feature using photoreal animation, in what it dubbed “in the spirit of Happy Feet,” the 2006 animated feature co-directed by George Miller that centered on penguins.

Seven years ago, Donald Glover won his first two Emmys, Best Comedy Actor and Best Comedy Directing for “Atlanta.” While he missed out on nominations last year for the final season of his FX series — he did receive a writing bid for “Swarm” — Glover is back in the hunt this cycle with “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” Inspired by the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie film of the same name, the spy series is competing in drama, which means Glover could become just the second man and third person to win lead Emmys in comedy and drama.

The late, great James Gandolfini began acting in the early 1980s, but it was "The Sopranos" that made him a star. And it was a stardom that seemingly always made the performer uncomfortable. Up until his big break on the HBO series, Gandolfini appeared as small supporting characters in films like "True Romance" and "Get Shorty." It was the role of Tony Soprano that launched him into a kind of superstardom. Gandolfini was so good as troubled mob boss Tony Soprano that it was almost scary; he fully embodied the character, and seemingly everything he did with the part — be it raising his voice or simply, and quietly, raising his eyebrows — became something to obsess over. We are worse off without him around, continuing to deliver memorable roles (Gandolfini died in 2013 at the far-too-young age of 51).

25 years ago, television changed forever. It was at the start of 1999 that HBO aired the first episode of The Sopranos – the groundbreaking gangster drama that took the cinematic tropes of The Godfather and Goodfellas and turned them longform. With its then-contemporary depiction of a crime family – both the underworld operation run by James Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano, and the domestic Soprano household – facing up to the realities of 21st Century life and a tidal shift in mobster generations, it was both a deconstruction of and gripping addition to the gangster canon. In the likes of Tony, and Lorraine Bracco’s therapist Dr. Melfi, and Steven Van Zandt’s hard-headed Silvio Dante, and Edie Falco’s long-suffering wife Carmela Soprano, it introduced some of the greatest characters to ever grace the small screen.

The Sopranos series finale is one of the most heavily-scrutinized bits of media ever produced. When Tony Soprano’s story abruptly cut to black mid-“Don’t Stop Believin'” viewers had no choice but to analyze what they just saw.
Did the Members Only jacket guy shoot Tony? Did he choke on a Holsten’s onion ring? Was this all a dream? Though creator David Chase has obliquely discussed the true nature of the final scene over the years, we’ll never know what actually happened by the finale’s own design. And that’s why people continue to watch it, consider it, and debate it even to this day.
And yet, even with all the ink already spilled trying to dissect The Sopranos finale, there’s one fascinating detail that everyone missed … everyone but one person at least. In a 2015 interview with fellow actor Alan Cumming for this Remember That Time series,...

After what seemed forever regarding the last part of the series, one of the foremost epics in the world of anime, “Attack on Titan” concluded its “trip”, which actually started back in 2013, in a way that is both impressive and somewhat disappointing. Let us take things from the beginning though.

As such, the Rumbling, directed by Eren, aims at destroying all humanity outside the Paradise Island, with the Colossal Titans killing countless people, including Ramzi and his brother and Grisha's parents, and destroying civilizations all over the world. The classic show “The Sopranos” began its life on HBO on January 10, 1999, single handedly launching the Golden Age of Cable Drama. It’s difficult to recall now, but when the show premiered, HBO was not yet HBO, and original programming outside of network primetime was still in its infancy. Creator David Chase crafted a series at once dark and comedic, violent and emotionally vibrant. It introduced the world to entertainment’s ultimate antihero in Italian-American mob boss Tony Soprano, played with power, pathos and perturbation by James Gandolfini. Beset by depression and panic attacks, he showed us what “The Godfather” never did: a gangster in therapy, regularly visiting the office of New Jersey psychotherapist Dr. Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco) to download his many troubles and come to terms with a toxic mother Livia (Nancy Marchand). Tony’s long-suffering wife Carmela (pitch-perfect work from Edie Falco) and precocious daughter Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) completed his female-surrounding quartet.

For a small island, Puerto Rico has an outsized musical footprint. From salsa to hip-hop to reggaeton, for decades the Caribbean nation and the diaspora have contributed to birthing genres that have gone on to sweep the globe. With that international success has also come certain formulas for repeating it. On his debut EP, "Road 2 Neverland," Pink Pablo eschews all of them in favor of a sound that breaks from the confines of the established mainstream. Instead, it favors something a little freer. And over the course of six tracks, he finds it.
The introductory track, "Neverland," opens with blaring synths before morphing into a futuristic, funky disco beat that underscores Pablo's light harmonizing. The beat changes up again whenever his rapping takes over, this time going rock with heavy cymbals and kick drums accentuating the artist's more exaggerated delivery. It's a fun track that raises the energy level right...

It’s been ten years since James Gandolfini died and his co-stars from The Sopranos are remembering the late actor.
Michael Imperioli starred on the HBO drama and shared the screen with Gandolfini as Tony Soprano’s protégé Christopher Moltisanti. In commemoration of his death anniversary, Imperioli took to Instagram to share his favorite photo of himself with Gandolfini.
“Batman and Robin…my favorite picture of us. And I can’t help thinking where we ended up that night and what you said. That was one for the books,” Imperioli captioned the Instagram post.
He continued, “It’s so very strange that it’s 10 years today since you left us. Would love to have shot one more scene or had another laugh or one more late-night chat. Forever grateful to have done so much work together, to have spent so much time in your company and for all the generosity and kindness.

Pilots for “The Hurt Unit,” “Public Defenders,” “Judgement” and “Keeping It Together” (which was formerly titled “Drop-Off”) are no longer moving forward at ABC.
The news comes amid the ongoing writers strike taking hold of Hollywood. The Writers Guild of America decided to strike on May 2 after failing to reach an agreement on issues like wages and protections against AI.
The medical procedural drama was ordered in December and starred Ben McKenzie. Per the official logline, the show is “a cutting-edge medical drama about a highly skilled team of trauma surgeons and nurses who race into the field to treat the patients who won’t make it to the hospital in time. When the sick and the injured can’t get to the ER, the Hurt Unit (Hospital Urgent Response Team) brings the ER to them.”
Matt Lopez and John Glenn co-wrote the pilot for “The Hurt Unit,” with both serving as executive producers.

Although Edie Falco’s Emmy Awards history began with a successful Best Drama Actress bid for “The Sopranos” in 1999, she has since racked up more comedy nominations than drama ones. After receiving a comedy guest notice for “30 Rock” in 2008, she earned half a dozen lead ones for “Nurse Jackie” between 2010 and 2015, the first of which led to a win. Now, as a Best Comedy Supporting Actress contender for Peacock’s “Bupkis,” she could become the eighth entrant on the list of women who have earned recognition in every possible comedy Emmy category.
After “Nurse Jackie,” “Bupkis” is only the second comedy series on which Falco has played a regular role. Her character, Amy Davidson, is a fictionalized version of series star Pete Davidson’s own mother, who raised him and his younger sister as a single parent after her husband died during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Bupkis — : Edie Falco as Amy Davidson — (Photo by: Heidi Gutman/Peacock) After making a semi-autobiographical movie in The King of Staten Island, comedian Pete Davidson has gone all the way by playing a fictionalized version of himself on the new show Bupkis. Four-time Emmy Award winner Edie Falco co-stars as Davidson’s mother, with the character also loosely based on his real-life mother. And while Falco loves working with Davidson on the show, she also admitted she thinks he might be a bit of a handful for his real-life mother. Shailene Woodley stars as Eleanor Falco, a young Baltimore beat cop who seems unhappy both at home and at work. Lammark believes he recognises a fellow profiling savant in Falco, so she’s fast-tracked into his unit, despite her lack of training. Could Lammark be mistaking portentous wildlife analogies for actual insight? He does seem overly impressed when she says stuff like,...

Joshua Petersen knew what he was getting into when he signed on to craft the production design for the new eight-episode Peacock streaming comedy series “Bupkis.” It’s described as former “Saturday Night Live” regular Pete Davidson’s “semi-autobiographical” comedy that presents “a heightened, fictionalized version of Pete’s real life” and combines “grounded storytelling with absurd elements.” So when Petersen read the pilot script and found that the opening scene featured Davidson masturbating to virtual reality porn and accidentally ejaculating onto the clothed chest of his mother Amy, he reasoned, “There’s some expectation of that.” Petersen quickly added, “But it’s also a show that earns its pathos and the deeper emotional things that you get in the first two episodes. It showed me what the show is capable of. That’s what really (interested) me.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Roadside Attractions has acquired the U.S. rights to “Camp Hideout” and will release the family comedy theatrically in the fall.
The film follows a troubled teen named Noah (Ethan Drew), who nearly gets caught stealing a top-secret gadget from some big city thugs. He then barely escapes by hiding in a summer camp run by the eccentric Falco (Christopher Lloyd) and counselors Jake (Corbin Bleu) and Selena (Amanda Leighton). While Noah tries to blend in with the rest of the rowdy campers, his crooked partners show up to steal the classified item from Noah. What follows is a series of wacky and zany events complete with home-made booby traps as Noah tries to escape the goons.
The movie was directed by Sean Olson (“F.R.E.D.I.”) and produced by Phillip Glasser (“The War With Grandpa“) and Jason Brown (“Noobz”). Bleu was one of the stars of “High School Musical.

Sequels, reboots, and revivals, oh my. Deadline has reported that Showtime is developing sequel series to Nurse Jackie and Weeds, which were once crown jewels of the network.
The sequels to Nurse Jackie and Weeds are still in the early stages of development, but Deadline hears that the prospective leads of each original series, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, are attached to star and executive produce the follow-ups. The original Weeds series starred Parker as a widowed mother who starts selling marijuana to support her family following the death of her husband. Nurse Jackie featured Falco as a pill-popping ER nurse and mother.
The Weeds sequel series would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, with the new story featuring Mary-Louise Parker’s character in Copenhagen. As for the Nurse Jackie sequel, it would be written and executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive, who worked on the original.

Exclusive Updated: Showtime is looking to bring back two of its signature comedy series, Nurse Jackie and Weeds. Both hail from Lionsgate Television and former Showtime chief Robert Greenblatt who has a deal at the indie studio.

Sources stress that the projects are still coming together and deals are being negotiated.
The Weeds revival would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, I hear.
Meanwhile, I hear the Nurse Jackie sequel would be written/executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive who were writers-producers on the original series. The concept is still being finalized.

Pete Davidson took a walk down memory lane for Mother’s Day this year. The former “Saturday Night Live” star and “Bupkis” creator joined his mom, Amy Davidson, for an interview with Good Housekeeping featuring the duo’s favorite ways Pete has honored his mother.
“Mother’s Day is an important holiday in my household,” Pete tells the magazine. Pete is famously close with his mom, who repeatedly appeared on the Mother’s Day episode of “SNL” during Pete’s tenure on the show. Pete Davidson knows a thing or two about reputation preceding reality.
Since his “Saturday Night Live” debut in 2014, Davidson has carved a niche playing extensions or exaggerated versions of himself, whether it’s “The King of Staten Island,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” or the rom-com “Meet Cute.” “Bupkis,” the Peacock comedy created by Davidson, Judah Miller, and Dave Sirus, dials Pete Davidson — the idea, not the actual person — up to 1000, accepting him as an entity unto himself.
As that heightened version of himself, Pete lives in Staten Island with his mother (Edie Falco) and hangs out with his mostly good-for-nothing friends. His cantankerous grandfather (Joe Pesci) gives him a rude awakening in the premiere, telling his grandson to stop being so selfish and do something for someone else once in a while — with disastrous results.

Edie Falco loves being a mom. The "Nurse Jackie" star has two kids - a son named Anderson and a daughter named Macy - whom she adopted in 2005 and 2008, respectively. While appearing on "Anderson" in April 2012, Falco said she felt an instant connection with her children when she first met them. "The second you are handed a newborn, it is yours," she said. "It doesn't matter what body it came out of. I've never felt more strongly about anything in my life."
In March 2018, she told Vulture that the urge to start a family came after being in a few serious relationships. "We were looking at marriage and then we were looking at kids, and then the relationship fell apart," she said. "If you're with someone you love and the idea of raising kids together feels fantastic, it starts to take root. So once the relationships ended, that was still alive in me.

Plot: A new comedy following Pete Davidson as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships.
Review: Love him or hate him, Pete Davidson is very popular these days. After his stint on Saturday Night Live, his semi-autobiographical Judd Apatow movie The King of Staten Island, as well as a string of high-profile relationships with everyone from Ariana Grande and Kate Beckinsale to Kim Kardashian and more, Davidson has used his fame and unique comedic style to develop a new Peacock series. Bupkis finds Pete Davidson playing the most challenging role of his career: himself. Taking a cue from Larry David’s HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bupkis is a showcase for Davidson’s sense of humor, and a huge cast of famous guest stars reenacting stories from his life exaggerated in such a way that you cannot tell what is true and what is fiction.
