Exclusive: Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), and Larry Joe Campbell (The Orville) have been set for guest star roles in the forthcoming second season of Fox’s popular workplace comedy Animal Control, starring Joel McHale.
Others set to appear in S2 guest roles, as previously announced, include Ken Jeong, Sarah Chalke, and Krystal Smith.
Premiering last February, the show created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. McHale plays Frank, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.

Iga Swiatek joined an illustrious list of former Wta World No. 1s who scored at least three-digit match wins during their reign at the top of the rankings.
The Pole is the ninth woman ranked as a World No. 1 to score 100 wins at tour level, following her comprehensive straight sets win over China's Qinwen Zheng at the United Cup. The victory propelled her country into the semifinal of the mixed-gender team tournament.
Poland, who entered this year's competition as the odds-on favorites thanks to the exploits of Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz, are two ties away from winning the tournament. They face France in the semis on Saturday at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney.
Swiatek, who has yet to lose a match in 2024, has now forged a 14-match winning streak in singles dating back to last year's China Open. She has expanded this exclusive centurion club, which includes Wta legends like Chris Evert,...

Simona Halep admits it would be a "disaster" if her doping ban is upheld for the entire four-year period, which many believe could jeopardize her professional career.
Halep was sanctioned by the Itia following conclusive evidence by an independent tribunal in September for two counts of anti-doping rule violations deemed "intentional" and was banned from competing on the tennis circuit for up to four years.
The Romanian star tested positive for the prohibited doping agent Roxadustat - known for increasing red blood cell production - at the 2022 US Open and was found to have irregularities on her athlete's biological passport after analysis of 51 blood samples.
A crestfallen Halep has continually pleaded her innocence from the confines of the court of law, on media houses, and even on her social media platform. Several of her fellow pros have backed her, and pundits like Chris Evert believe she is innocent.

Simona Halep's doping saga has been one of the major talking points in 2023, and it is set to dominate the tennis pages once again in the early part of next year.
The Romanian has received the backing of former Wta No. 1 Chris Evert, who was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of ovarian cancer and has announced her leave of absence from next month's Australian Open coverage on ESPN to focus on treatment.
But Evert didn't stop to show her allegiance and public support for Halep, who was banned from playing professional tennis for up to four years for doping. Halep's year-long verdict was determined in September when an independent tribunal concluded there was "illicit blood manipulation."
"Simona Halep appeal set for February. I, for one, believe she’s innocent. Yes, she had roxadustat in her system, but she handed her whole life over to her coach and his team,...

Iga Swiatek has joined an illustrious list of Wta legends who have previously won the Player of the Year award for at least two consecutive years.
The Polish player was recently crowned the 2023 Wta Player of the Year after another stellar season saw her reign supreme at the summit of women's tennis. It wasn't all plain sailing in 2023 as she fended off multiple challengers for the ultimate crown and briefly lost her No.1 ranking.
The Wta Player of the Year is an award reserved for the best-performing player on tour at the end of every season, and Swiatek deservedly checked this box once again. She won six titles, the most for any woman in singles last season, and finished year-end No. 1 for the second time.

Tennis legend Chris Evert is set to miss ESPN's coverage of the 2024 Australian Open after cancer recurrence.
In a statement published on ESPN's social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the 68-year-old stated that she had experienced a recurrence of ovarian cancer less than a year since she declared she was cancer-free. Based on a scan of the pelvic region, Evert noted that new cancer cells were discovered.
Evert was initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer after undergoing a preventive hysterectomy (a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the uterus) in December 2021, in which a malignant tumor was discovered in her fallopian tube, and she has publicly detailed her experience.
"Since I was first diagnosed with cancer two years ago, I've been very open about my experience. I wanted to give all of you an update. My cancer is back. While this is a diagnosis I never wanted to hear,...

World No. 5 Jessica Pegula and the defending champion Ons Jabeur have signed up to play the 2024 Charleston Open in South Carolina.
The Charleston Open is synonymous with being the oldest all-women's tennis tournament in the United States, having been a staple on the Wta calendar since its inception in 1973 (except 2020 due to Covid-19), the same year the women's governing body was formed.
A host of the world's greatest tennis players on the Wta tour have played and won this tournament in the past, such as Chris Evert (eight-time champion), Martina Navratilova, Tracy Austin, Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis, and Serena Williams.
In 2022, the tournament commemorated its 50th year of staging the event at Daniel Island by unveiling its renovated Credit One Stadium, which offered significant upgrades in seating options and enhanced hospitality experiences.

Iga Swiatek is racking up achievements by the day, and it's becoming increasingly clear that she's on a path to becoming one of the all-time greats.
Such terms have always been and always will be highly subjective, but you can't deny some of the things Swiatek has been doing. Eras are not comparable in tennis, but that shouldn't take away from any achievement a player has.
For example, Iga Swiatek did something that some other legendary players also did but at a younger age. Does that make it less impressive? Does that detract from his achievement? No, and it shouldn't because it's not something that's not easily done, at any point in tennis history.
By finishing the 2023 season as the highest-ranked player on the Wta Tour, she became the 6th youngest woman to finish back-to-back as year-end No. 1. It almost didn't happen as she needed a spectacular finish to the year to get it done,...

Coco Gauff can mount an assault at the World No. 1 ranking in 2024, and there is a feasible chance it could happen as early as the first half of next season.
Gauff finished the 2023 season at a career-best ranking of No. 3, replacing Jessica Pegula as USA's top-ranked woman in the process. Since she broke the world's Top 10 in the summer of 2022, Gauff has never looked back and is now aiming to climb to new heights next year.
The 19-year-old had a stunning campaign during the US swing, where she won three titles, including a maiden Grand Slam. Gauff joined a gaudy list of former American players who won a Grand Slam as teenagers in the Open Era. These included Chris Evert, Tracy Austin, and Serena Williams.

Coco Gauff did something earlier this year that was only done by the future world number one players on the Wta Tour in history, so will she follow that path?
Whether Gauff will end up as number one or not remains to be seen, but there are some things that point towards that being a very realistic scenario. The American was always described as a huge talent, and while she delivered consistently solid performances, she didn't really have many signature wins.
She wasn't winning big trophies, and some wondered whether she would ever get there. Obviously, those concerns were overblown as she had plenty of time, but the growing pains were also present this year.
The summer was dreadful, but she unlocked something new at the end of the summer with a couple of impressive showings in the United States on her home soil.

Jessica Pegula had a decent tournament at this year's Wta Finals but was outplayed by Iga Swiatek in Monday's championship match.
The American World No. 5 took to Instagram in the aftermath of her crushing defeat to share her hilarious reaction after falling victim to Swiatek's so-called "Iga's Bakery" after winning just a single game in just an hour of play.
Because Swiatek has regularly won 6-0 and 6-1 sets on tour, tennis fans instituted that name and tend to poke fun at players who fall prey. In fact, there is a famous tennis account on X going by the name "Did Iga Swiatek bagel or breadstick somebody?" to keep up with how many times she wins by the score.
In tennis informal glossary of terms, 6-0 sets are called bagels, while 6-1 sets are called breadsticks. On Monday, Pegula was on the wrong end of a brutal scoreline, being fed a bagel and a breadstick.

Iga Swiatek produced a perfect performance in the title match for this year's Wta Finals to win the tournament for the very first time.
On her inexorable march to the final, Swiatek equaled the record for the fewest games conceded. Among her victims were World No. 3 Coco Gauff and top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, who was dethroned from the World No. 1 ranking by the Pole at the end of the tournament.
Swiatek demolished Jessica Pegula 6-0, 6-1 in Monday's rescheduled final, in what has now become the most one-sided final match at the Wta Finals. Former Wta doubles No. 1 Pam Shriver opined that Stefanos Tsitsipas may have "hit the wall" in his battle to outperform fellow rivals Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner .
In an episode of the Inside-In podcast, Shriver evaluated the Greek's up-and-down 2023 season, which has yielded a few highs, but majorly modest results . Tsitsipas started the year in terrific form, reaching his second Grand Slam final at the Australian Open, and only losing to Novak Djokovic.

Former Wta player Pam Shriver thinks that Iga Swiatek will break Chris Evert 's Roland Garros record, which sits at seven trophies right now.
Chris Evert was an amazing tennis player who won a lot of trophies in her career. Among those trophies, she has won seven Roland Garros trophies which is the best mark in women's tennis.

Keith Giffen, the longtime comics author and artist who co-created popular characters such as DC’s Lobo and the Jamie Reyes version of the Blue Beetle as well as Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon, has died. He was 70.

Martina Navratilova made a public confession of the steadfast support she received from her old rival and good friend Chris Evert during her fight against cancer.
Navratilova, winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, was diagnosed with throat cancer in January . As she underwent tests on her throat, an unrelated early-stage breast cancer was discovered. The tennis icon, who works as a pundit, took time away from tennis-related commitments to focus on a rigorous treatment plan.
In late March, Navratilova announced that she was cancer-free in an emotional interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV. The 66-year-old has now opened up on the unwavering support she received from her former Wta rival, Chris Evert, during the challenging couple of months at the turn of the year.
Navratilova and Evert have shared the tennis stage 80 times - 60 of which were in finals. Their rivalry transcended women's tennis and is synonymously known as the most prolific rivalry in tennis.

Chris Evert came to the defence of recently-crowned US Open champion Novak Djokovic following some slight criticism from Rennae Stubbs on social media.
Novak Djokovic remains one of the more dominant forces in men's tennis and has added three Grand Slam titles to his name this season alone. He managed to equal the record for most major titles won when he claimed the US Open title merely weeks ago . He now has a huge 24 Grand Slam titles.
Most of the debate over the years has been whether Djokovic is held in as high regard as his two biggest rivals of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Rennae Stubbs touched upon this on social media as she attempted to delve into the Serbian's biggest motivations in the sport.
"I think Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal definitely personified wanting to win a lot but it is obsessive to Novak and you can see it.

She may have fallen short in her quest to win a second Grand Slam title, but Aryna Sabalenka left New York with two other prizes.
The Belarusian powerhouse cemented her lead in the Wta prize money charts for the 2023 season, banking a cool $1.5 million for her runner-up finish at the US Open last Saturday, taking her season's tally to $7,369,635 in addition to dethroning Iga Swiatek from the World No. 1 ranking .
Sabalenka is also the fourth-highest prize money earner in 2023 across both tours behind leading Atp players Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev. She is on course to become the first Wta player since 2019 to cross the $10 million mark in yearly prize money.
The Wta No. 1 rises a spot above retired player Jelena Jankovic in the career prize money list into 24th spot and within touching distance of the Top 20, having amassed $19,544,545 in her career. Sabalenka is almost $2 million ahead...

Wta legend Martina Navratilova was dismayed to find Maria Sharapova 's inclusion in a poll determining the best tennis female players of all time.
On Wednesday, a post by World of Statistics on X (formerly known as Twitter) asked users to name the best tennis female of all time in a four-woman shortlist including Serena Williams, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Maria Sharapova.
Navratilova reacted in shock and disdain and responded to the post, hinting Sharapova was unworthy to even be on the list in the first place. The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion asked fans not to bother voting. Although she didn't delve into detail, the list does look extremely skewed, with a handful of names with a more ostentatious tennis CV being left out.

Coco Gauff 's tennis career has gone from strength to strength since she broke onto the Wta at 15 and the teenager is still working towards the perfect 'balance' between tennis and life.
Despite being just 19 years old, Gauff has achieved plenty in her short career so far. In singles, the American player has reached three Grand Slam quarter-finals, one Roland Garros final and she won her first Wta 1000 event in Cincinnati this season.
Due to her fast progress, it is easy to forget how much more there is to come from Gauff on the court. However, when asked about other aspects of her life during an interview with Vogue , Gauff said she is thankful for her family support and she believes she is still figuring out aspects of 'adulting' alongside her tennis career.
"Long-term, I have good family support and a team around me to help guide me through those things.

Venus Williams has been far from reaching her top level in her first-round match at the 2023 US Open against Greet Minnen .
When it comes to legends competing on the Wta Tour, Venus Williams is certainly one of the first names that pops up. This year, the US Open is celebrating 50 years of equal prize money , and throughout the years, the 43-year-old American also helped to make sure the progress would be made.
Now, she could make progress by advancing from the first round to the second, but in her milestone 100th match at the US Open, Williams, who was initially set to play Paula Badosa , was far from her top level. Only four women played at least 100 matches at Flushing Meadows, and they are all American, with Serena Williams having 123 matches, Chris Evert 113, and Martina Navratilova 106.
Now, Venus Williams joined this club, but there probably won't be a party to celebrate this achievement.

Behind the scenes, Pat Riley started chain smoking to deal with the stress of working with Paul Westhead. Jim Chones gets traded off, and Buss offered Johnson a somewhat bogus contract that would pay him $25 million over 25 years.

Novak Djokovic came close to winning a record-tying eighth Wimbledon title but lost to Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz in five sets in Sunday's final.
It was a big opportunity missed for Djokovic, who ended up bagging the unwanted accolade of the most Grand Slams finals lost of any man in tennis with 12. However, it is pertinent to note that Djokovic has made more major finals in that regard and has won more Grand Slams by a male player and only trails Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 titles.
Djokovic was playing in his 35th Grand Slam final on Sunday - again another record, which is four more than Roger Federer in second place and five more than Rafael Nadal among the men. His victory over Jannik Sinner saw him overtake Chris Evert who jointly held the record of most Slam final appearances with Djokovic at 34.

Novak Djokovic has progressed to his 35th career Grand Slam final at Wimbledon , the most out of any other player in the Grand Slam era.
Djokovic continued his quest to retain the Wimbledon title with a straight-sets victory against Jannik Sinner in the semi-final . It will be the Serbian's third Grand Slam final of the season after he won the 2023 Australian Open and the Roland Garros.
In the process, Djokovic has made history and surpassed some of the greatest-ever players in the all-time Grand Slam finals list. Djokovic overtook Chris Evert (34 finals) to make the most-ever career finals out of any men's or women's players since the slam era started in 1968.
Before the 2023 season, Djokovic was already ahead of his former 'Big Three' competitor Roger Federer in terms of finals reached. Federer, who retired from professional tennis in 2022 at the Laver Cup, ended his career with 31 Grand Slam finals, winning...

London, July 14 (Ians) World No. 2 Novak Djokovic dismissed the big-hitting threat of Jannik Sinner to reach his fifth consecutive Wimbledon final, here on Friday.
Djokovic delivered a typically classy all-around semi-final performance to prevail 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) against the Italian and notch his 34th straight match win at the grass-court major.
His clean, deep returning was a constant menace to the Sinner serve and Djokovic was rock-solid under pressure as he saved all six break points he faced in his two-hour, 46-minute triumph.
“In the semi-finals, it was always going to be a very tense, very close match.Three very close sets, I think the scoreline maybe doesn’t give the reality of what was happening on the court. It was super close,” said Djokovic in his on-court interview.
“The third set could have gone his way. He had 5-4, 15/40 and a couple of second serves. He missed a few...

Wimbledon commentary may seem seamless but getting the names, nations and numbers correct 100% of the time can prove problematic at times.
Chris Evert proved during the first-round clash between Elena Rybakina and Shelby Rogers. Defending Wimbledon champion Rybakina was given a tough contest against Rogers on Centre Court and the Khazakstani player lost the first set 6-4.
However, the 25-year-old raced back into contention with a resounding 6-1 win in the second set before she wrapped up the victory with a 6-2 score in the final set .
It was certainly a game of ups and downs and co-commentator Evert had a tough time keeping up with the action at times. During her analysis during the match, Evert confused Rybakina's country of Kazakhstan with the name of fellow Wta player Daria Kasatkina .
"Rybakina is a Russian, played for Russia, moved to Kasatkina... Kazakhstan, excuse me."

The uncle of Andy Murray , Niall Erskine slammed Wimbledon for leaving Andy Murray off of their most recent promotional photo.
Wimbledon hasn't even started and we've already seen several controversies regarding the event. The event has been doing a very active promotional campaign ahead of it but they made a few choices that left fans angered. First, they published a teaser that didn't really feature Novak Djokovic angering his fans .
Then the Serbian was left off of the promotional poster leaving his fans even more angered. He was not the only player missing from that poster as Wta defending champion Elena Rybakina also wasn't on it. After public outcry, the event updated the poster adding both Djokovic and Rybakina.
Now they've been slammed by the uncle of Andy Murray for leaving him off of the latest promo material which highlights some of the more iconic rivalries the event saw over the years.

For the first time in 11 years, two American players will be in the Top 10 on the Atp Tour as Frances Tiafoe is set to join Taylor Fritz .
American tennis history is long as the country produced many legendary players, some born in the United States like the McEnroe brothers, Pete Sampras, Chris Evert, and many others while some that adopted the flag like Martina Navratilova and Monica Seles. In the past two decades though, US tennis hasn't been what it used to be, at least on the men's side.

Novak Djokovic keeps on winning and keeps on adding to his record books as he tied another one at the 2023 Roland Garros .
Novak Djokovic proved a resilient monster once more after outlasting Carlos Alcaraz in very tricky conditions seeing the younger player struggle with cramps as he kept going. The result of all of that was a 4-set win over the Spaniard , booking the final of the 2023 Roland Garros.
By doing that Djokovic tied Chris Evert for most Grand Slam finals ever with 34. It's an impressive list of players that were able to contest 30 grand slam finals and Djokovic now sits at the top tied with Evert. Considering his grass prowess there is a chance that Djokovic will emerge on the top of that list as the sole record holder which would be very impressive.

Paris, June 8 (Ians) Former French Open champion Chris Evert believes that defending champion and world No.1 Iga Swiatek “hasn’t been tested” in the Roland Garros this year and praised her for finding her ‘A-Game’ when it mattered.

Dominic Thiem has received backing from Chris Evert over making a resurgence leading up to the 2023 US Open.
2023 has generally been an inconsistent campaign so far for Thiem, who recently lost an epic three-set encounter against world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Madrid Open. Despite showing plenty of fight in the match, it followed first-round exits at the Australian Open, the Rio Open, the Chile Open, Indian Wells, and Miami this season for the 29-year-old.
However, despite the Austrian's recent struggles in Atp events, he continues to receive backing from high-profile tennis figures. The latest former great to support Thiem is 18-time Grand Slam winner Chris Evert, who told Punto de Break that the 2020 US champion is slowly showing signs of progression.
"I know we missed him a lot and that he is a very talented player, a great attraction for our sport and I am glad to see him back.

Iga Swiatek has been quite up and down this year with great moments and some surprising losses but Chris Evert believes her to be the favourite for Roland Garros.
Swiatek hasn't been playing tennis this year to the level she played last year. Other players have played better against her as well which created this mix of both good and bad results. She lost in the Madrid Open final to Sabalenka but she also beat her the week before in Stuttgart.
Roland Garros has been the big event where she dominated in the past quite easily. She's won it two times already and looked primed to win it again. There are very few players that can challenge her on clay and even Sabalenka doesn't play that well on clay despite recent success. Her only trophies on the surface came in Madrid.

Chris Evert believes Carlos Alcaraz is capable of winning the 2023 Roland Garros but it will depend on whether he stays healthy.
It's a very straightforward sentiment that many have expressed over the court of the past few weeks however there is more to it when broken down. Evert is fully aware of the talent and skill Alcaraz possesses and that's never going to be a question. His health, however, will be a question because history has proven him to struggle with it at times.
Leading up to Roland Garros, Alcaraz will have played several Atp events on clay so it will be interesting to see whether his body can endure two more weeks of hard tennis. His body has struggled to keep up with the high demand of playing a lot in consecutive weeks. That will be the case with Paris and health is something that Evert emphasized when talking to Puntodebreak.

Chris Evert hopes for a fully healthy Roland Garros lineup though doubts that Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will be at their best at the event.
Neither Djokovic nor Nadal took part in the Madrid Open due to the Serb pulling out before the event and Nadal being unable to play due to injuries. Djokovic will return in Rome and that will be a chance to see his play ahead of Roland Garros.
We'll have to wait for Paris for Nadal and although he is expected to play, nobody really knows whether he truly will. It's pretty clear that neither will be at their best when the event begins and Evert worries how that will impact their chances as she revealed to Puntodebreak.
I hope everyone is healthy, it seems like there are a lot of players injured lately. Novak and Rafa are the greatest ever, they have been the...

Former player Chris Evert spoke to Eurosport after Carlos Alcaraz continued his Madrid Open onslaught admitting that she's stunned by what he's producing on the court.
Alcaraz has been utterly impressive from the moment he stepped on a tennis court. He turned 20 yesterday and despite his young age, he's already one of the most accomplished tennis players on the Tour. Countless wins, a grand slam trophy, a number rank, finishing as number one at the end of the year - the list just keeps on going and it's likely to be legendary by the time he's done.
It's very hard to summarise how impressive he is at this stage of his career. Even experienced tennis minds like Evert have difficulty framing how impressed they are with what he's been able to do this year and generally in his career so far.
I don't know how he can improve anymore. The...

Iga Swiatek will be playing in the 2023 Madrid Open final after beating Veronika Kudermetova in a dominant style.
If the young Pole is on top of her game, she dominates in the majority of the matches that she plays and even her opponents feel it. Ahead of their meeting, Kudermetova said that Swiatek plays like men, describing her aggressive approach.
She surely felt like she was playing against some of her colleagues from the Atp Tour in their fourth meeting on the Wta Tour as Swiatek didn't allow it to be any more dramatic than the previous three. The last match was a 6-0, 6-1 win for the Pole and this time she achieved a very similar result.
